I just wanted to bring closure to this issue and inform potential buyers of what to consider and look out for if contemplating this adapter.
And a subsequent email I received from SmallRig (I'm not sure that everyone at SmallRig is aware of my videos):

I use Makita Tool batteries to power my BMPCC4K camera. The Makita Battery adapter is available on eBay or Amazon. I connect the output from the adapter to a DC-DC buck converter 15-40v input / 12v 5Amp output. I have a huge collection of Makita cordless tools, so the batteries are dual purpose. I made a lexan belt clip for the adapter and wear the batteries on my belt to cut down on the camera weight on the gimbal. My next project is a DIY Arri Trinity type of gimbal.

Thanks for this. I have three of the units but not overly concerned about the issue.

It certainly won't affect everyone and in most cases wouldn't have affected me, but there were times when that extra 30 mins would have been very useful. It especially makes a difference if you don't constantly turn the camera on and off.

I have had a problem with a battery disconnection issue. If a battery is securely locked into position and it gets bumped or pushed in normal handed operation, the receiver plate will power down and shut anything connected to it. I have worked around this issue with having to use gaffers tape to take up some of the slack in the battery holder. I don't know if this is a battery manufacturing issue or a Smallrig issue. I have also noticed the poor performance issue with the batteries and now understand why they are not lasting as long as I would expect them to. Thank you for taking the time to research this issue.

I didn't have any issues with battery disconnection with the adapter, but I only use IDX SL-F50 batteries with the camera. I have experienced similar problems with some cheap batteries on other devices and it's clear that the quality of the battery manufacture often dictates performance, not just power but the mechanical aspects.

Hi there from your antipodes. Nice videos , I landed on your Small Rig NP-F Battery adapter videos as I am making the choice of wich one would be the best option. I agree with many of your assessments about the freedom and lightness of many "gurus" who just learned what it is to capture images two years ago. Experience is a degree. My question is that I see from the rigs that you have in your 4k, that you do not power the monitor from the battery and its corresponding plate, that is, the same battery that you power the camera with. I have read a lot about problems that cause the camera to be "fried" due to an overload that travels from that load to the monitor through the HDMI connected to the camera. I would like to know if it is possible ,and based on your experience ,if this happens regularly or to prevent it it is better to bring autonomous power supplies. In that case, I plan to use the battery plate to power the camera and the Nucleus Nano Follow Focus, which curiously, needs more power than 5V to be able to reach a higher torque and be able to move lenses with hard focuses (Vintage lenses).Best from Spain.
