While it's true that Clark lies, it's not because he wants to or for personal gain. It's actually a sacrifice he's making for others at the expense of himself.

As i enjoy your reactions and rewatch smallville with you I really am starting to see how hypocritical Clark Kent was. That said Tom welling clark Kent was my childhood hero. Started watching smallville in 2001 when I was 6 so there’s a lot of shit that went over my head but rewatching it here is opening my eyes on Lex and Clark really were like and a lot of other stuff.I can’t help but feel super sympathetic to Lex, sheesh FFS
I don't feel sympathetic towards Lex at all. Clark is sometimes hypocritical but he's still a good person unlike Lex. Remember Lex just wanted to be Clark's friend to find out his secret. He was stalking a minor that's very creepy and not genuine friendship. Lex is not entitled to Clark's secret. The Kent's always told Clark to be careful with his secret and to choose wisely who to tell.
ashley perez dude lets put things into perspective. Lex has been mentally fucked with since he was born. I mean think about it in middle school he literally had to cover for his mom killing his brother or his dad would have MURDERED her. He had to grow up fast because his dad was a monster. Now growing up like that would fuck anyone up right? Ok now to the creepy thing. Yah their whole relationship is creepy BUT, From Lex’s perspective he met this kid by almost killing the him in a car accident only to find out there’s not a scratch on him. Remember, this is the first time Lex has been in smallville in his adult life. So, wouldn’t you be shocked, befuddle, bewildered at the fact that you hit a young 14 year old kid at 60 mph through a guardrail but kid you hit has not one SCRATCH on him. Forget broken bones, a SCRATCH. And If you can recall in season 1 he was really trying hard to be his friend and it was working out really well. I mean Lex was even telling his father(Lionel) to quit his obsession with Clark Kent with no hidden agendas. But as Lionel kept digging, what he kept finding was more interesting things and Lex being near Lionel, these thing couldn’t be hidden from him which sparked his curiosity in like season 2. That’s why he then started to stalk him. But if you watched the show closely, in the beginning Lex actually wanted a genuine friendship (weird as that seems). It may be weird but we also have to consider that Lex was a MAJOR loner as a kid, teen, and adult, who honestly Barely had any friends. That fucks someone’s head up hard, seeing as how human beings are social creatures and Clark’s welcoming, innocent, & sincere nature was different from anything he’s dealt with in his life. So even if we say it’s weird, if you really think about it kinda ain’t. THIS SHOW WAS FUCKING AMAZING!!!!
Actually I have watched closely. Lex is really well written and one of my favorite characters\villians. Let me clarify. What I meant by 'I have no sympathy' I was talking about Lex's actions as an adult. I do feel bad for the way Lex was raised but that doesn't excuse his actions it just makes you understand him. Lex can be a good friend at times but their friendship did start out with a motive of him wanting to find out his secret. If they never had the car accident the friendship wouldn't have existed. Lex initiated their friendship because of his curiosity. He wondered why Clark was unscathed from the accident. This curiosity is the catalyst of their friendship whether you like it or not and was implied in the first episode of season 1. Their friendship was tainted\doomed from the start just by that curiosity alone. Wanting to invade someone's privacy is not being a friend unless you're trying to protect them from something. Lex is not entitled to his friend's secrets unless they want him to know or if it involves him.
This is always one of the more forgettable S4 episodes for me. I always liked the jacket tornado vacuum save though. Lionel's shift in morality is not a ruse. The healed liver is meant to communicate that having Clark's "essence" inside of him did affect him physically, and Lionel wouldn't know to fake the change-of-heart since he doesn't know what actually happened. We'll see how long it lasts though! Still trying to squeeze another one in tonight? :)
Well yah...... kinda but it’s Lionel soo the doubt would always remains. It has not been 100% confirmed up to where he’s at. I mean no point now. Since he prolly reads the comment he already read it. Not a huge spoiler but I know gamer is infatuated with Lionel and just thought it would be cool to see the face he’d make once he realizes Lionel true Change but it’s whatever
@@7625e But there is no point where one "realizes" that. It's already happened. The show wants and needs you to know that this is what they're doing with Lionel, which is why they tell you over and over. When Smallville's narrative wants to leave something ambiguous or mysterious, they do that. But the show is by no means subtle. When it tells you it's doing something, it's doing it. When Lana gets trampled by a horse, she gets trampled by a horse. When Lionel has a moral paradigm shift because Clark was inside of him, he has a moral paradigm shift because Clark was inside of him. It's happened.
@@ds7000 right.. it just seemed like gamer didn't get to that realization yet and I just wanted to see him to eventually reach it naturally, that's all.
