Not defending their awful writing, but I've always seen Daenerys as an evil ambitious bitch, from the moment she smiled proudly while listening to Drogo's speech about how he would invade Westeros, rape women and burn houses to the ground. She helped the slaves only because she wanted their support as soldiers in her army. People who thought she would be a "savior" are the same ones who would be tricked by communist ditactors like Stalin with their "helping the poor" ideology.

Her storyline and end had sense. She lost 2 baby dragon, Missandy, Varys betrays her, wants to be loved but becomes auntzoned, wants to be loved but everyone loves John Snow, John becomes a threat by being a Targaryen, lost Sir Friendzone. It is clear in the books her bloodline was incestuous and it produces physical and mental stuff(like becoming crazy). It was also stated that everytime a Targaryen borns the gods toss a coin in the air. What made no sense was the short time.

Yeah it's not like she had a long family history, or that people were betraying her, or that she lost everyone she loved or her closest advisers constantly second guessed her. It's mostly the family history thing. It's in her blood but there's so many indicators that this could have happened and the fact not a single viewer saw it maybe comming is fucking baffling. like 4 IQ

And then do one of the best performances seen in television, and suddenly have all your scenes being in a sandbox without anything interesting happen and also lose all your fun, wit and cleverness. I think it was an attempt at Peter Dinklage's part to make the lines look more serious & sensible and convey the morbidity of the situation(s) that they were in because any attempt to do so through the words they had given him was lost. Like he knew that the dialogue itself didn't hold a lot of weight so everything rides on how it is delivered.

@Tim Evans 1) She knew to be quiet. That's not being smart, that's just not being as stupid as someone else might have been. You can see the difference between her and Margaery even in those seasons: it is night and day. Plus, her entire rescue was an example of blindly trusting someone after all she had been through, and could've easily went the other way. That's not very smart on her part. 2) once again, it is basic logic to not get riled up by your enemy. That wasn't an example of brains. That was an example of her not being a complete idiot. Two entirely different things. 3) she cost people their lives by pulling that stunt. If she had told ANYONE, then they would have waited for the Vale instead of being led to believe that that was all the forces that they would ever be able to muster. It would have been an entirely different matter if they had waited for the Vale because a) they wouldn't have been outnumbered so Ramsay couldn't have used that maneuver. It would have been utterly ineffective EVEN if things happened the way you say they would have happened and b) the Vale forces would have still been under different leadership, not under Jon. 4) She didn't outwit Littlefinger, she outwitted an OC who behaved nothing like Littlefinger. A character doesn't become smarter just because you tear down the characters around them to make them look better by comparison. 5) Once again, showing that they needed to make other characters utterly idiotic in order to make her look good. That doesn't make her smart, it makes everyone else look like children. 6) not trusting Cersei is something that ANYONE should have known by then 7) the Daenerys plot is one of the worst written in the entire show 8) That's like saying she knew how to play against Littlefinger: nerfing everyone else does not make her look smart. This is the Daenerys who "forgot" about Euron's fleet: I should hope anyone would be able to outsmart her by that point. 9) you left out the ONLY smart thing she actually did do and that was get Littlefinger in her debt while at the Vale.

Remember when Tyrion was able to craft a master plan using wildfire, a stationary and highly unstable liquid. You would think he would be able to cook up something genius with 3 flying fire breathing dragons against an army made of ice but apparently Tyrion respec-ed during season 6 and put all his points into luck, since he somehow lived and got everything even though he was a total noob.

@@robrick9361 There could actually be a reason for that tbh: His near-drowning when he was travelling with Mormont. Being suffocated in any way causes the brain to not get enough oxygen (obviously since you need to breathe to get oxygen) and that can damage the brain. It sucks that they never explained it in the show if that is what happened to Tyrion, but on the other hand we are talking about a medieval world. He's breathing, he's talking, so why check his brain? I mean, i doubt that D&D thought about that when writing so Tyrion being dumb most likely just is them being dumber. But there is a real life explanation for it as well.

I will never understand why did they have John Snow killed by the men of the Night Watch only after he let the wildling through the wall. It makes literally no sense...

it's even dumber than that. because it took him hours at the very least, if he even could have found it in the dark, in the freezing cold, as a city kid in the wilderness. Then he would have to convince someone to help him send a raven (he's illiterate), hope the castle even Had a raven for Dragonstone, which has previously been abandoned after Stannis left, then the bird has to fly hundreds of miles there, then Danaerys needs to notice and read the message (it was a plot point in book 3 that the Night's Watch's request for aid sat for WEEKS at Dragonstone before Davos read it and told Stannis about it), decide what she's going to do about it, then fly hundreds of miles back, then find them wherever the fuck they are. All in less than a day, and only that long because the literal army of undead just fucking sat there and stared at them all night.

That would have made sense if her plan was to weaken Jon and take over the North herself. Having intrigue between the Starks and have Sansa use what she learned to plot the removal of her bastard brother and put a trueborn Stark on Winterfell's throne would also be more true to the original theme of the show, instead of the "good vs. evil" disappointment it changed into.

They could have had Jon's army approach the field and find Rickon already dead on a cross, I suppose. Or have Ramsay put an arrow in him after he takes 10 steps. That way there'd be no reason for Jon to lose his mind and ride off, but they would also lose the "Hollywood moment" of Jon facing the charging cavalry alone and on foot (which I must admit was beautifully shot and scored) as an iconic way to start the battle.

They argued on purpose to trick little finger into thinking he turned them against each other. Remember sansas words when they executed him "that's what you do, that's what you've always done. They weren't at odds with each other at all, they were just playing the game so little finger would think he was safe.

When little finger was telling her to let sansa go she said "I lied for you I killed for you!" Lysa didn't have anything to do with catlyns death, but it's safe to assume that sansa connected the dots about her husband though. After little finger sold her to Ramsey, sansa begrudgingly let him stay at winterfell, because she needed his help, she clearly didn't trust him anymore. Even without bran, If arya said she found that letter sansa wrote in little fingers room, sansa would have known he was up to something. Because what reason could he have for keeping it? So while Bran was the reason little finger was executed so soon, I think sansa knew it wasn't safe to keep him alive regardless.

I agree. Sansa outsmarting Littlefinger and Arya getting revenge on Walder Frey were both good ideas that I wanted to see, but when they happened it made no sense, they had no build-up and just kinda happened. One day Arya is an assassin school dropout, the next she can infiltrate a castle, bake grown men into pies, kill every male Frey and just walk out. Same thing with Daenerys going mad. It's a logical conclusion to her story, but the execution was just terrible.

@Zak Snow is smart in military and morality matters but he has a certain ethical code as a warrior and being well-born (Even though everyone, including viewers, thought he was born out of wedlock: a basterd in those times were looked down up just like dwarfs (Tyrione))

@@TheLoozerDonkey Actually, i have read the books. And no, he is still not particularly smart. He was fine in "Storm of swords" when he had to command in battle. In "Dance of dragons", he constantly keeps doing stupid things, which gets him killed.

@@andrxsinho5626 not really. Even though Jaimie wouldve lost his life, Dany has no sucessor, so the war would've been finished if Jaimie succeeded.

@@andrxsinho5626 If he'd killed her, the war would be over and his sister would have won. It's also perfectly in character for Jaime to risk a charge at the enemy with no concern for his own health - see the Battle of the Whispering Wood.

Dothraki only follow strength and her being gone, why would they stick around. So yea he was aiming at Daenerys to end everything, Look how Jon killed her and everyone just went home and left lmfao

The show would have been much more interesting if Jaime had shockingly killed Dany there (before dying himself). It would have shown us that main characters still aren't invincible and could die if they land in an active battlefield to repair their dragon. Furthermore, the collapse and infighting within Daenerys' faction could have been glorious to witness. For example, I'd imagine some of her thousands of Bloodriders would go through with ritual suicide, while some would argue that they were never real Bloodriders and split into new Khalasars to terrorize the strange and foreign countryside of Westeros.

@@RaddSchmetterling Yeah, for all its talk about being the kind of show that kills off main characters, can you name anyone who could really be considered a MAIN, the audience were rooting for them character who dies in-between the red wedding and the last few episodes of season 8? They killed Jon and brought him back again! They definitely lost the nerve to kill off main characters because they didn't want to make fans angry or make people stop watching, and killing off either Dany or Jaime or both would have really infuriated some people, but it would have tilted the show on its axis and it could have been amazing.
