I don’t see how this doorbell shows any video on my phone. All it does is take a photo, and the photo doesn’t show up immediately. Am I missing something here?

Almost every time my battery dies I have to do pairing system all over again.

I have spare set of batteries charged. When battery is low replace them one at a time so it doesn’t disconnect. Put back on wall and charge the low batteries.

Well you can only Power this door bell using standard 18 to 24 DC transformer, and that is it with in video i have just briefly shown the connection points, camera don't come in with feature like acting as a switch for old door bell i suppose i can't find such thing in it, but if you look into nest hello have have wireless chime switch avaiable to use your old door bell chime i hope i have answered your question
