Smart Drugs: Unlocking Your Brain's Potential - One Pill at a Time | ENDEVR Documentary
Opioid Tragedy - Inside the Fentanyl Crisis: • Opioid Tragedy: Inside...
If popping a pill could make you smarter, wittier and increase your memory would you take it? If you were a surgeon working 20 hour days and you could take a pill that kept you performing brilliantly, would you? We are on the verge of a new kind of over-the-counter drug that could change the fabric of our society, they’re called Nootropics, or ‘smart drugs,’ and they’re globally popular both at parties and in the workplace but we are only beginning to be aware of some of the side effects.

Also if you consider fasting, try intermittent fasting for 15-20hr periods 1-2 per week before doing an longer fast. It's so hard to go and fast even 24hr periods if you have never been fasting beforehand. After fasting try break it with juice, dates, fruits and nuts. The food will taste amazing. Here the waterfast was broke eating fried greasy food, and personally I can see zero whole foods. (not optimal if you're looking to get healthier)

I think so too, and having played around with nootropics since the 70s, I'm still not sure if some of them aren't active placebos. There's a range of qualities that are hard to pin down...the racetams (piracetam, noopept, etc) are at one end of the spectrum, and modafinil is closer to an amphetamine at the other end. I believe micro dosing is useful, but not every day - give your brain a rest once in awhile. Ideally we'd all have a physician like Molly in the video to actually monitor our physiological parameters - she has excellent advice!

I’m a medical student and most of people here are on Nootropics. I’ve personally tried a few and 200mg Modafinil with a couple of cups of coffee worked best for me. One of the major side effects I experienced was a diminishing sense of empathy. When neutral, I could easily empathise with people and give things time, be patient. On nootropics, it’s all about making progress and it’s impossible to just sit down in silence. Apart from that, I experienced a slightly elevated heart rate (exam fear probably contributed as well) and a super focus where I could easily pull off 4-5 hours of non-stop study sessions(at the peak I was studying for 15 hours a day). I liked the experience but it’s not something I’ll adopt as a lifestyle since empathy is important for me, especially in our profession. Would love to hear from medicos and their experience with Nootropics. Also, ENDEVR, great documentary as always!

I usually only take it on shift days. It's great for golf too. Lol. Have played my best rounds on Provigil. Only a half a pill for golf. Hyper focused. Keeps your emotions in check. I can bet you the pros take it. Also long tedious boring tasks you really don't want to do like painting a house. Cleaning out your garage. Moving and packing. The duality is strikingly awful. While fast typing tech bro has an entire pharmaceutical library of mystery drugs, we also have thousands of people jailed for a simple cannabis plant. There's an entire category of people who microdose LSD and party drugs. Meanwhile, the poorest amongst us die in record numbers to fentanyl and legal drugs. When was social change supposed to come, again?

Also, people who live with serious painful conditions that require opioids for pain relief can't get it either because the powers that be think they know better; they think that aspirin and Tylenol will take care of the pain. They're lying. How about they allow people with chronic pain have access to what's worked for them in the past? Few, if any, taking prescription opioids for legitimate, documented pain die from taking prescription opioids. It's all illicit dope causing the poisonings. Only addicts can get opioids (suboxone, methadone, buprenorphine) - as a "treatment" for their addiction. It's ridiculous. Those that want to do away with opioid for pain relief have no problem with putting all pain patients on these addiction drugs - even though they are even more addictive than Oxycodone, etc. Pretty sure they have a serious conflict of interest. They're not pain doctors - they're addiction specialists and they think all pain patients are addicts.
@chachi9126
@chachi9126 3 месяца назад
the duality is that most people will view this and simply loathe the enablers, rather than blame the victims. Drugs are not easy to get. You make the decision of which you want and why. The events that take place after, are not equal for every person who partakes. If it bothers you then support right wing anti drug reform. If it doesn't then continue to support left wing drug enablers. Either way people are still gonna find a way to get drugs because the problem isn't within the substance use, its within the system that failed them before they even had an understanding of what was going on.

So in conclusion, you answered your own question in the first 60 seconds. You work too hard and depend on work too much to cover other parts of life which you feel less satisfied. Everything else is just attempting to brush this under the carpet. If I was undecided pre-viewing, 52 minutes later, deciding that I'd wouldn't touch these pills was easy to make. I *will* say, the real challenge with any heavy dopaminergic agents is *always* going to be the challenge of dose regulation while self medicating. tbh idk why we dont have people abusing Wellbutrin left and right. thats a "face eating cathinone" DRI like the Pyros, but I guess they lock it into XR enteric coated time release tablet technology well enough nobody can figure out how to freebase it out of a lightbulb 🤣
@KaosProject21
@KaosProject21 3 месяца назад
you could probably get a doctor to cut you lose with Modafinil, Wellbutrin, and Vyvanse in a neat little cocktail. that said, again, turning up dopamine will just make you into a fiend unless you crank up your ACH and tweek your NMDA chemistry as well. you've got to keep your brain *thinking* rather than just chasing more dopamine. that said, dopamine is responsible for most of your "enhanced performance" targets, as long as you can focus on anything outside of abusing the chase further...

A "Runner's High" often times won't happen on your first intense jog if you're not used to that sort of cardio. Instead, you're likely to feel exhaustion in exchange... When you first begin working out, or cardio intense exercise, you have to get past an initiation on your stamina before your body gains the stamina to overcome what would otherwise exhaust those who don't do so regularly, and from my experience, that's when a Runner's High is easier achieved.

Interestingly, afterwards I often found myself in situations where I had to overwork. However, I never managed to earn an adequate amount of money. The thing that makes me feel depressed is when I refused to overwork I would still find myself in situations where I had to overwork. I'm feeling much better now, though I had to pause the video and it took me two days to watch it to the end.

Besides that, haven't you ever seen the commercials about the MANY different drugs they took off the market after decades due to all the issues they've caused? Those were all FDA approved. Abstaining from drugs or alcohol will help. After that, you need a daily mental regimen of affirmation for your goals. That's all you have to do to maximize your life.

The optimal state is balanced. The brain and body have well established ways of working, and any artificial enhancement has a cost. Its as if the body requires you to earn your state, in ways it has defined, if you don't it will throw things out of balance. You can still use things but be sure theres a cost. I'm certain that if a person felt what it feels like when the body is functioning in an optimal way (through diet, exercise and lifestyle), they would never consider any other option. Because it wouldn't be as good. Maybe for a blip in some aspect, but then your optimal is no more.

Excellent and most interesting topic. Well done. I'm not sure where I've been (maybe under a rock lol) but I never heard of nootropics or smart drugs. I did love the movie Limitless though :) Maybe one day with AI or emerging technologies this idea may become a reality but not sure we are there yet. All our bodies are so unique it would be difficult for one size pill to work on everyone the same. As a person living with decades of chronic illness and trying everything out there to feel better I know it's much more complicated than any one thing fixing certain health issues. I'm looking forward to some answers from this new future tech based on precision medicine. Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us🌞😎🌴

All depends on who's standard you use to "measure". Now I don't know your art academy, but, it being an art academy and all, I bet it can be highly subjective what good art is. So, depending on your measuring stick, "being last in class", could actually be a goal for them and be a good thing. Rock and roll was seen as an abomination by some coming from a more classical era of music. Your good can be my bad and that's ok.

Tried Modafinil. Gave me constant headaches and insomnia. Also, the elevated heart rate and higher blood pressure doesn't help at all. Weird kind of focus when you do work but it's not exactly productive. Maybe it's just me. Taking taurine pills in combination with Arcalion(Sulbutiamine) is WAY better in terms of how I feel health-wise. Not as much focus as nootropics , but enough focus and energy for first part of your day. It's like taking red bull without the sugar. Heard it's good for heart health too.

I mean for those of us with ADHD we are already doing this with adderall and other medications xD it doesn’t necessarily make us smarter but does check the box on focus, energy stabilization and allowing us to complete our tasks with more ease. It does help with my memory too but not as much as I wish it did. If something could magically fix my brains short term memory I’d jump on that in a heartbeat.
@KittinPyro
@KittinPyro Месяц назад
23:13 okay but seriously if you’re actually considering bio-hacking please don’t use adderall or any other medication prescribed to people with ADHD to achieve it. Because of people like this guy using it for purposes it’s not meant for, me and others with ADHD struggle to get our prescriptions filled on time and are often treated like criminals and subjected to urine tests to make sure we’re actually taking it and not selling it. Urine tests can be inaccurate though and when false negatives occur, they will refuse to fill your prescription leaving you without medication to fend for yourself. It is a broken system. Blood tests are much more accurate but most insurances will not cover them. Please just choose to get your boost elsewhere, and take it from me, These drugs all have horrendous withdrawal symptoms if you miss a dose. Just 3 days is enough for withdrawal and it’s debilitating!

Stress will trump the meds. You also broke fast dangerously, besides being overweight (I am guessing 28% BMI). In addition, the visceral fat residing on your gut and poisoned microbiome are the main causes of your mental fog, energy and so on. Fix your gut liner, introduce fermented foods, practice healthy fasting and live from earth such as propolis, fungi, etc. Good luck with these magic pills, but personally I would stay away from synthetic meds. The bottom line, we have to fix our metabolism and reverse insulin resistance, while promoting your microbiota and mental fitness with fermented food, stress management and intermittent fasting.

There’s a difference in being productive and feeling productive. I think overall if you’re constantly taking nootropics it can give you the feeling of being productive but also lead to you relying on the feeling of the supplements over actually just being productive. Sometimes focusing can be uncomfortable but if you can work through that then you can really improve your work rate

@JimmyCrackorn

I've started that intermittent fasting diet on three separate occasions. It *ALWAYS* sucks in the beginning, and it can take several weeks to fully adapt to it. You don't really do it to be more productive, you do it to lose weight. Once you hit your target, you stop entirely unless you have other health reasons to maintain it. I have IBD, so I'm usually on it for extended periods of time. This is to prevent dramatic and very enduring inflammation in my stomach and intestines, which results in me regurgitating everything I ate. I simply can't handle more than one meal per day. People with healthy digestive systems and without blood sugar issues shouldn't maintain it longer than six months at a time - and that's being generous. I usually advise to cycle off after three to four months. For greater focus and more energy, it's better to eat five to six small portions throughout the day. Small breakfast of protein and carbs around 7 AM. Knock down a glass of juice or a hot beverage, and follow that with a full glass of water. The carbs will expand in your stomach and make you feel more satisfied. By carbs, I don't mean granulated sugar, I mean fresh fruit and or bread. It's even better if you add a teaspoon of ceylon cinnamon because it just *rips* sugar through your system and into your bowels. It'll kick you in the teeth and have you begging for more. Beat the sugar crash by having a light snack halfway between breakfast and lunch. 10 AM is a good time. I would dodge pineapple at breakfast and instead knock that back with a tall glass of water at snack time. Now pineapple is acidic and is considered that fruit you eat that eats you too. That'll have you good and hungry a few hours later, but it's water soluble, so you can feel full with that combination. What's really good about pineapple is the bromelain. Bromelain fights inflammation, so it's good for mobility and comfort. Target 1 PM for lunch and have a small salad with a vinaigrette dressing and topped with seafood. If you're allergic to seafood, go for poultry. Take some tree nuts on the side. Prone to being cold? Make sure spinach is in the salad. Cholesterol problems? Pop a daily dose of zinc and olive leaf extract. Drink another glass of water. Halfway between lunch and dinner, something like 4 PM, have an even lighter snack than before. A Greek yogurt with chia or flax. Flax is rich in CBD, so it'll relax your body as you wrap up your day. Have another glass of water. Between 7 PM and 8 PM is just right for dinner. Don't skip your nicontinoids. Eggplant, tomatoes, and broccoli - that sort of stuff. This is your biggest meal of the day, but you can't put a lot down after eating all day. You can smother a baked potato [potatoes are richer in potassium than bananas are] in broccoli and melted low-fat cheese with minced onion and garlic [sulfates are good for skin and hair]. Have a side of eggplant topped with a little bit of meat and a sauce you like, or even eggplant parmesan. And have a veggie soup as the main attraction of the meal. Don't forget to knock back a water! Skip dessert. If you want energy and focus, a balanced and healthy diet is the way to go. Eat small and eat regularly. That's how our bodies evolved. The supplements are there to help, not to carry us through the day. High sugar diets bog you down, and avoiding food for extended periods of time will do the same. The machine needs *clean* fuel. Brown rice > white rice. All natural or organic > American conventional. Learn your fats. You don't want LDL and trans fats. You want HDL [olive oil, canola oil, avocado oil]. Dodge non-nutritional carbs, and avoid mixing them unnecessarily [you don't need pancakes *and* toast; pick one]. Whole grain breads > white bread, most pancakes, and most waffles. Vary your diet. Eating the same meals every day will make you fall off and isn't very satisfying. It's also not the most efficient way to achieve your health goals. Minimize caffeine and take your supplements with meals. I also can't stress this enough: regular daily exercise will balance testosterone in males and females. If you want an edge when it comes to intellectual tasks, *workout.* We *all* perform significantly better with a solid fitness routine. Hormone imbalances are destructive to cognition and mental health. Just as it's possible and unhealthy for a male to have too much testosterone and a female to have too much estrogen, it's also possible and unhealthy for a male to have too much estrogen and a female to have too much testosterone. Both bodies produce both. *Be active* and your body will naturally handle the rest. Furthermore, tap water is contaminated with estrogen. It's a serious modern environmental issue caused by medical pollution, unnecessarily high legume production, and over-prescribing birth control. *Purify your water* to the best of your ability. Finally, get enough sleep. It takes seven to eight hours per night. Long life, greater focus, and more energy are easy to figure out but difficult disciplines to master. There is no shortcut to date. To find that type of solution, we need to be heathy first. Eliminate distractions, leave toxic work environments, disengage interactions when fights are brewing, and make health the core of political action. That way, we'll be able to think and remain productive. And I can also confidently say that the next step will be to actually *cure diseases.* Diseases cause undue stress, and the general public shouldn't care about corporate profits in that regard. It's *their* job to serve the public and find ways to monetize according to the global market. It's *not* our job to keep them in business with inferior products and services. Diseases that cause destructive undue stress are: HSV-1, HSV-2, HIV, cancer, pneumonia, emphysema, autoimmune diseases, gum disease, glaucoma, endometriosis, fibromyalgia, heart disease, PKD, Parkinson's, PCOS, HPV, nail fungus, etc. If we actually do something about those afflictions, we'll be well on our way.

If you have IBD and IF worked for you, it means you still can fix your intestine (your 2nd brain BTW), try Broth during 1 month, it will totally fix your inflammation. (Your IBD root cause is your own defenses against molecules trespassing your affected gut layer).

None of these things are really sustainable in the long term though. I used to abuse things like Adderall, Provogil, Ritalin, Focalin, etc. and after a while, it really took a toll on my body and just burnt me out. They work great in small doses here and there, but that is really tough to do. I just think it’s bad news all around. If you want to have energy and be productive, the best thing you can do is simply to eat well, sleep well and get a good amount of exercise. There is no easy fix or pill for it. Just my opinion based on my own experience and research, but honestly, who thinks I’m wrong??? If there was an easy way to do things, people would do it and it would work, right???? There are no easy fixes in life- no miracle pills. That’s just how it is. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and Acupuncture are in my opinion a natural path to transcending one’s health to optimal levels. Health is a state of true and honest awareness and self assessment - the gentleman in this video was very aware of his negative health issues. Seeking the path to self realization and transcendence is not easy to achieve. For me, health is hard work and effort and consistency. I don’t just want to live long, I want to live fully functioning and cognitively. When man searches in vain to find heath and happiness, he inevitably looks within.

Apart from the over the top packaging and wasteful packaging to increase the brand perception and demand a good price, I like that it would help get the natural medicinal plants to the people. Synthetic extracts and isolated molecule products are sometimes more potent and don't have buffering cofactors as its natural counterparts.
