Turned out to be a fuse in the footwell my son must have kicked it out

Fantastic, we can all see now where the solenoid is and how it works. I have searched for a video that shows this for quite a while. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for your video, as you described i drilled 1 x 10mm hole on the right inserted a piece of hooked piece of wire and hey presto - hatch open. In my case the solenoid has failed so currently awaiting a replacement.

You can also drill a small hole on the side if that shroud. Then you can insert a small allen key and just lever down on the release mechanism. It hardly shows and is a good fail safe even if you do fix the problem.

In the end it wasn't the solenoid it was a fuse CHECK fuses first. Turned out my son kicked under the footwell and popped a fuse out

My car has the problem twice and today is the 2nd time. The disfunction of the latch does it mean it needs replacing and I can't afford to have it happens all the time 😖
