Smart Garage Door Opener (with Arduino) 

I'm pretty sure this is what you did, but it is important to mention for others: hook up any smart garage opener to an existing one (simulating a button press), not to the motor directly as the existing one will contain important safety mechanisms.

Funny I did a similar build but I used a cheap ultrasound sensor on top of the garage door to check if it is open
