Control. They didn't mention what happens when insurance lapses, gets cancelled for whatever reason. Not to mention tickets, no show for court or no fine payment. Cali got yall by the balls every time you turn around.
@@edparrera4455 its also $600 for something that can be broken in about fifteen seconds with a baseball bat. Even if I could afford it, I would still think this is fucking stupid. A $50 piece of stamped metal versus a $600 hunk of plastic. A piece of metal which can be fixed with a hammer and a flat board if you get rearended, versus a $600 pile of plastic chips. I mean, you can't have a fucking plastic straw, but a plastic licence plate is totally kosher.... Gawd, you people are stupid....
@@edparrera4455 here's the problem: $600 and $7 a month. And for a state that's supposedly trying to go green, this is an awfully funny way to show it by producing millions of little television sets that will become e-waste when they go bad.
Of course he won't pull it off. THAT WOULD BLOW any sales they might get. And as long as you don't get caught. Think how much FUN one could get out of tearing it apart.
Forfeit your privacy even more and get tracked absolutely everywhere you go. Look at the bridges and you’ll see some have transponders to scan everyone going through.
I agree, thay fined me 284.00 for not passing smog test on my 1986 toy pu. 6 months it took to fix on my own. Last year I drove 3,500 miles,I live rual.Today I parked my truck so I don't get impounded. 2 amendment needs to be exercised hear in Commie CA.
@@InSaN3ViSioN it's still not sensible. It's a really stupid and unnecessary thing. And for a state that's supposedly trying to go green, pushing for the creation of millions of little televisions that become e-waste when they go bad doesn't make any sense. There are 10 reasons to not do this for every one reason to do it. Lame.
Saw one yesterday, 11-23-21, in Thousand Oaks and wondered what the heck it was. IMHO, any license plate that's hooked up to something other than two screws is more than simply suspect. If I have an old car, say a '65 Mustang, for-effing-get it. If I wanted a car with a black box, I'd have a nice, new car. George Orwell was remarkably prescient, technologically speaking. On more step on display, above. Am I an uneducated kook? Perhaps 30 years with the LA District Atty's Office made me a mite over-cautious. There's the signpost up ahead: You've just entered the absolute-lack-of-privacy zone.
I just hope that when this shit hits the dmv's of the rest of the country they still have the metal plate option ,I mean we can't put our ¢.10 cent an hour boys behind bars out of work .
Then with this, they should not charge for vanity plates, since they are just a background change. These would be hacked easily within 10 minutes if you let the hackers at em.
Oh HELL bet no-one will think of that. Until they ask for 1200.00 plus 170.00 all up front. Then as you start to pay ....would you like to buy an extended warranty...oh ok that is another 450.00 a year. Why so much ....NEW TECH. AND YOU WANT IT!!! OH BOY we get to go to HAWAII if this sales pitch keeps up.........idiots just have to buy their toys.
In my state we only have a rear plate. I returned to my former city of residence up north and the county cop pulled me over in a shipping center and cited me for having only one plate. I told him that Florida only issues one plate. He wouldn't listen. Guy was a total idiot. I tore the ticket up right in front of him and called the local PD precinct he was from the next morning. . Never paid the fine and never heard another word about it. I've renewed my tags in Florida for last four years so it didn't follow me.
Mike R good so your not going to get the smart license. Here a smart think I be coming over to steal your car and take it to a chop shop then how’s big brother now
I live in Okeechobee FLA. I have a six foot fence around My property. This is NOT Commiefornia! We have the stand Your ground law. I feel sorry for anybody dumb enough to try to seal anything from Me! Even the repo guys won't try to repossess a vehicle from private property in this Town!
Smart license plate doesn't solve the problem of theft it makes it easier for crooks. Remove that crap connect it to a temporary power supply and send it somewhere else while the car goes to chop shop. GPS tracker is way better option and harder to locate and disable, plus it doesn't cost 699$ plus 84$in monthly fees with total of 783$ plus tax which will be around 860$ of wasted money
More big brother and the nanny state. Amber alert on your licence plate. Please your plate gonna flash....like when NYC sent an cell phone amber alert at 3am......woke up every one. At 9am the most googled in NYC was "turn off amber alert"
This is so dumb what is to stop a vandal from taking an emergency glass breaker and wreck the thing and electronics can malfunction. I'll take steel plates any day.
If this was mandatory for all cars what would the migrants do. Maybe have a paper plate that could be renewed. The state will probably give them a pass saying it's racist to pick on them
That's one of the reason most middle class people are leaving the State. Insane registration prices and insurance. Moving to another State can save you big money on both.
Why does everybody assume that an angry spouse is going to attack the license plate? If she's mad enough to do that, she'll go after the whole car, not just the plate LOL
LOL This would never work in the EAST coast like NY. Crackheads will steal that shit in a heart beat or break the glass just for fun. Cost-wise it makes no sense either.
1:25 "I can't pull it off" well, maybe if you try you could. This would be a good idea if you didn't have to pay a fee for using them, or pay 699 to get them, they say it has kindle technology, a kindle tablet doesn't cost that much and can do more than display messages, also if you really try you can easily remove that with a lever, I'm not even stole things but i can tell how easy is to do it, and this is some amateur stuff. This could be better integrated into the car, and it could work with your house wifi to get "updates" or sync to your car/mobile hotspot for data. That could be a better security feature for your car, if the plate doesn't detect you phone or your house wifi in a certain amount of time it could send an alert or display a message on the screen. Even i can come with these easy ideas, if they can't they're not trying hard enough or trying to rip us off. Don't treat us like fools, come on.
As an auto mechanic I can't tell you how many people can't get stickers on their cars for inspection because of a tire pressure sensor light that is 100% unnecessary in many other lights that are 100% unnecessary to operate a vehicle is so concerned about safety but yet they still allow people to text and drive where is that technology just stop texting and driving through a really that worried about safety where is that technology
You are 100 percent right. Talking on your cellphone is safe because you will be looking where you going and while texting you look at the screen instead of the road but those idiots which make idiotic regulations prohibited talking on your cellphone first so other idiots started texting because for some time it wasn't mentioned as dangerous or illegal. Reality is those pigs creating new ways to get our money in total disregard for our safety and call this bullshit a law but law can be made by Congress only, while us constitution prohibited states from making laws because state is a corporation. If everyone knew about it we wouldn't be so deep in this crap. Read the holly book named it US constitution.
This is so dumb. There was nothing wrong with license plates in the first place. If anything, the metal license plates have numerous advantages over the digital ones. If you get in a fender-bender or accidentally back up into something, the digital plate will get destroyed. Also, I'm not sure if they mentioned how waterproof it is, but water and digital screens do not mix. Seals degrade, and all it takes is just a few drops to fog up the screen and render it useless if a person lives in a rainy or coastal area or even washes their car. Also, some places get really hot or really cold, screens couldn't handle that. And finally, the digital plates are a major liability because they would be far less visible than the metal plates which have reflective paint on them, making them easier to read especially at night. A MAJOR disadvantage of the digital plate being that they would be extremely difficult or nearly impossible to read from a distance, unless you view it from the right angle, or even be too dim to be read if it is bright outside, similar to other digital screens. And god forbid it ever breaks, shorts out or malfunctions This completely destroys the entire basis for this product. What's the point of having a license plate that tells you if a car is stolen etc. If you can't read any of it?! I know this was a long post, but i didn't even mention the obvious problems like it getting stolen, fees etc. Already mentioned in previous comments.
Note: screen changes from day (black screen / white letters) and night (lit white screen / black letters) usage. Not worth money until they make it mandatory.
All valid points. I've mentioned too, that these digital plates will never work. Some things just aren't meant to be and these computer plates is one of them.
No thanks... people can barely pay their registration fee. My went up From $70 bucks two years ago to $230 . This is them trying to make us ride a bike.
If not for the stolen and amber alert feature this would be useless. If not all vehicles have it its also useless - the thief would just remove it and replace with a regular plate and not stand out. That being said, tesla owners will prepay and be on the wait list for this
MrMundo3d , people can still steal your car even though your car keys have a micro chip , what does that say..... i seen brand new 2018 mercedes getting jacked with their so call top of the line hack features.... keyless features cars with the push button is the easiest to steal if u got the right program ....
Yeah because radio, phone, television, and road sign notices for Amber alerts are not enough, right? Now we need them popping up on a plate. So stupid.
What about when everything is so smart connected, that police won't even have to run plates anymore. The cop cars will automatically scan every car, say within a block radius, or maybe all cars will be linked to a network in real time, and any speeding, accidents, and everything about who you are of course, will constantly be monitored by the system. Awesome 😏
yeah lets pay a shit ton of money to get tracked around everywhere we go. if anything id only buy one to jailbreak it and never need to pay registration again, or have a plate number scramble feature. cant change the numbers my ass. its a display. ill connect it to a goddamn raspberry pi.
Yeah unless it's free no one is gonna use it...7 extra monthly fee!?? No ppl will steal shit out of that thing unless it is bolted to the metal frame...hmm this car has 600 dollars worth of tech in it....
It would be really dumb to steal this plate. As soon as you notice your plates been stolen, you report it, and it changes to STOLEN. Having said that: 1. There are some stupid criminals. 2. If the purpose is just to fuck you over and not get a usable plate they can.
Its actually bigger and clumsier than a metal lisence! How stupid do they think people are? Near $600 fee increase. You know theirs too much big money there now.
