When humans start to see monkeys as smart for the mere acts of climbing trees & plucking fruits, things that monkeys normally do in the wild, all hope for mankind is gone. It's no different to saying fish are smart because they can swim.

People who said its animal abuse is wrong. This job is fit to mongkey, the owner is smart that he able to train the mongkey like that. People have been using animal to help their work since beginning of human history, we use camel, horse for ride and carrying our belongings, cow and buffalow for helping in farm etc.

WOW! They are smart - it probably only took them about a month to figure out that if they did what this asshole wanted, they didn't get beat with a stick or whipped! And, they also figured out that no matter how hot it gets, they better keep climbing until the owner says stop - or they get whipped again! I, personally, have always wanted to train some of these tiny Asian folks to do my work for me, so they can see what it feels like to be bullied by someone twice their size and I get to kick their ass on a daily basis!
I agree. But what about oxen and water buffalo that are forced to pull the ploughs to grow staples like rice in many parts of asia. Or donkeys, horses and mules that bring crops from remote fields to market.
We should all not have leashes, but we do. We have to work or else we go hungry. That monkey is very lucky it was caught by monkey farmers and not experiment labs. How many people suffered to make that shirt you're wearing??? Go talk about that instead.

@Eatme Douche. They originally weren't. And don't wolves also have a complex social structure? Our ancestors had no qualms taking and training them. Coconut farmers have been using and training monkeys for over 400 years.
There is another video showing how they train the monkeys to unravel any knots in the rope so they do not get trapped in the tree. They are pretty good at it and it shows they have reasoning and are able to solve 3 dimensional problems...
I find it ironic the same people who complain about the monkey being used to pick coconuts are the same ones who use coconut based products and oils! How do you think they are picked with machines if that was the case every product based on coconut would be 10 times as much
I recommend you to watch videos about coconut picking with special tools. There are a lot of solutions if you want to find them. We managed to send people in space but we cannot find a resposible solution for the coconut industry in order to respect those monkey. Some people forgot the fact that animals are not here for us to abuse them, but to respect them. Imagine a world where animals would be our slaves for whatever stupid purposes. That is already happening in some cases( animal testing, races, fashion industry). It’s disgusting. I personally try my best to be a responsible consumer. And that’s what we should all do
"They help their masters" is a very mild way to put that these monkeys are actually exploited, taken from their mothers when babies in order to be trained, and usually kept in dreadful conditions. Not to mention that they should be living in the wild where they do climb trees and pick up fruits to feed themselves.
