I’m considering creating a course about web designing like in wix, Shopify, Wordpress, etc. a lot of people are starting boutiques and side businesses and can’t always hire someone so I want to show people how to design websites (from scratch or starting from a simple template) so it looks unique 🤗. I’m always updating my website monthly until I finally found the style I really like and will possibly keep for a few more months before redesigning again lol (need to do some updates tho for my upcycle brand).
You are really doing well Kim, I have been following you for sometime now and I love your work. The thing about me is that I love everything about fashion design, but maybe afraid or not too sure of myself to make it a string of income. And honestly it is something I so desire.

Question! How much of your income is from physical product? As a designer and reading into other brands, it’s very hard to make a good profit margin as a small designer. Inventory, materials, production is very expensive! Do you have your pieces manufactured in bulk? Do you sell enough for that? Do you make more from digital products? Do you find the time it takes to do workshops is worth the time you spend prepping and teaching live? I feel like there isn’t enough transparency in fashion about how much individuals are making from physical product sales but tech I can easily find on RU-vid

I loved this video! I totally agree that selling digital sewing patterns is honestly such a great way to start earning passive income! This year I started making my own pdf patterns and have been selling them on Etsy. I encourage anyone else that can pattern draft to do the same! It's great as well cos then you can make digital content promoting them xx

Great content!! 👍👍 I've always wanted to focus my RU-vid channel on sewing tutorials and fashion based content but I'm yet to get the equipments I need to make such videos. So for now I'm only limited to making styling videos of clothes I make but this video was quite inspiring and I think I will push further to achieve what I wanted for my brand & also tryout some of these tips that you gave. Have been learning how to sew for some time now, I think I can do little of what I have learnt so far, though not very good yet but I just have this fear in me that I could end up messing someones' clothes... I always get motivated whenever I see your video and I always wish to do better. I wish you could guard me through......
I've started taking commissions sewing costumes for people. Been wondering of other ways to diversify my income streams. So this video is really timely and helpful! Thank you :) Particularly interested to run online workshops, I would love if you could share about how you set up your camera and space for it. Also, how do you manage your time to do everything? While working on commissions I already find it difficult to make time for writing social media content 🙏
Recently what has helped me with my social media page is scheduling content. I schedule everything for about 5days using buffer scheduling app. It just posts on my behalf. So no need to stress myself. You can try that
Great information. I’m definitely looking too start my RU-vid channel. Just not quite sure how too start. I’m a chef, I teach. As well sew. I started off hand sewing / custom made bonnets. And that I’ve invested in a sewing machine I sew much more. Still learning all of these special buttons on my machine. I’d really love to. Teach cooking as well as sew “clothing” something new to my Customers and I. Any who I appreciate you and this video
Hello and thank you for this video. I am maily sewing for myself and my son, I have started creating patterns and making them pdf. It was a long journey as there is not much about this online, I also learned to grade on illustrator, but making videos is something that would really like to know. So if you are planing to do a video that would be veeery much appriciated. I would be even interested one to one of that would be am option.

I just open a fashion out fit with a very wide space I really do not known how to design or partition it for my fashion activities. Am still new but I have been following your tutorials. Who makes your digital patterns? Did you design and grade them yourself? How does the customer get the item? Is it a file and then they must go to a printer to have it printed out? Would love to know:). Thank you!

I really need a one on one time with you. I can sew, thanks to women of faith and youtubers and you. Now, I want to have an income doing it. Not a social media person, but want to step in. Have a craft show coming up and sewing some kids wear and other craft I made before now to take to the show. It's my first time and I am so tensed up. this video was very informative, but i nees to seriously learn how to make PDF patterns, i learned CAD at uni but because i didn't have the software on my laptop i forgot everything.

You're welcome. I create the digital pattern myself with Adobe illustrator. It is a time consuming as the pattern has to as accurate as possible. You can also work with a pattern maker who familiar with Adobe suite to create the digital patterns for you.

For my video I use a Panasonic G9 camera and 10-25mm zoom lens with a Fancier FC-03H tripod. But you can work with a phone and laptop camera for a zoom or live workshop online. This way you are able to share your work table for your guests to see with one camera angle and your face with the other camera
I can write stories and songs but I've never been able to monitize it..I don't even know how to, the talent is just there in me. Hello Kim, ama Nigeria fashion designer though with other skills, I want to have an online presence and also get very good fabrics for my customers like those in your videos. I don't have much capital as am just starting out again after a long break from fashion due to some God made circumstances. How do I go about them please?
With stretch fabric, you don’t add ease because of the fabric stretch. Instead you add negative ease of 1-2 inches depending on how stretchy the fabric is. For woven non stretchy fabrics, half an inch to 1 inch is a good place to start but this can vary depending on the style and client preference

Social media can ne tricky. I've found that it's balancing of sharing authentic content and following relevant trends to ride the wave. Also identifying something (technique, personality, video quality or editing style) that will make your videos (in the case of your RU-vid channel) stand out is essential. You also have to remember that every creator's journey is different because we are competition with no one but ourselves.
