As bad as Luigi's disadvantage is, it is nowhere near as bad as Chrom. Chrom can literally die at 20% if the opponent knows what they are doing. Luigi will NEVER die at 20% unless you steal his double jump and even then, you have to try.
Yeah, I think he's been that way since Brawl. If he gets in close he's extremely dangerous, but his weak approach game really holds him back from being top tier.
When Luigi gets going, he feels like the best character in the game. When he gets juggled, or gimped off stage at 0%, he feels like the worst character in the game. A glass cannon.
Solomona Leiato I was playing against a Falco in melee once and he took my stock in two shines from 0. I think it was just shine into full hop maybe double jump shine.
@@curiosityman3704 shulk doesn't take enough hitstun for it to combo. I think you underestimate shield art. It may work at higher percents, but I doubt it.
Just wanted to say (and not because I'm biased as a Luigi main) you've become way more expressive in your videos - and that's a good thing. Your humor is well-placed and doesn't feel forced, and it flows well with the actual information, so that it keeps the viewer engaged. Very good production quality as well. Keep it up, Izaw.
I picked him up as a joke against my friend and he got so tilted that he refused to play me. I don’t even know Luigi at all. I can hardly do anything in this video. The main thing I did was Up-B out of shield or parry
ZeRo talked about a leak that suggests Gooigi as an echo fighter DLC thingy, if that happens I will instantly secondary him. Imagine losing to a Gooigi, it would be amazing :D
Ive been playing falco for over a year now and recently picked up luigi as a meme. turns out i love this character more than anything and am now spending all my time learning his setups and brutal combo strings. this video helped a ton
I'm just a casual smash player but I have to say I very much enjoy watching Luigi do ridiculous zero to deaths. His explosiveness is very entertaining and its funny to watch him pull off a zero to death only to get humiliated shortly after by having his bad recovery get exploited and get edge guarded at like 20%. And then misfires(either epic KOs instant failed recovery) are the cherry on top to the silliness.
Ahoy, SpongeBob! I just got grabbed by Luigi's plunger and I'm about to get KO'd because I made a small mistake at the beginning which costs a stock. Please have mercy. Please.
Miis are awesome. Each of them has terrible flaws, but against all the people that don't know how to play arround their gimmicks, they are amazing. The Gunner has ridiculous ledge-trapping abilities, the brawler has some sweet frame data and can combo heavies to oblivion, the swordie is... well we know that beast... I personally play all 3 Miis (maybe minus the swordfighter because tornado is a bit too lame to me and the alternatives are actually pretty bad). But more as a pocket. They are always helpful as a bit of unexpectedness, but time and time again I get to feel why I won't use them as primaries. The brawler is very gimmicky, has basically zero range and can't kill without risky kamikaze attempts or hard reads, the swordie and gunner have very few tools to defend themselves in neutral (try getting somebody off of you with their nairs, your opponent can probably react in time to shield them), and the gunner specifically is pretty slow in movement and most frame data, so if you don't get to keep your opponent at range you will probably just die. Still tho, Miis are very unique with their moveset gimmick and the possibility to use your custom miis and costumes makes them much more individual. I can live with them being underrepresented, because you can punish people for sleeping on them :>
a very genuine oh my god left my lips seeing this in my subs. I did not expect this and I really appreciate whomever stuffed your pockets flush enough to do this
Great video Izaw, one that I’ve been waiting for for quite some time. One thing worth adding or mentioning, Luigi’s N-air is just as good as cyclone for combo breaking in disadvantage. Not to mention that a quick N-air out of shield or while being juggled can lead to a tasty combo for yourself. Thanks for all you do Izaw. As a Luigi Main I’ve been asking for this regularly. Spa-ghetti
This channel is my go-to for Smash info and tips. Been playing since Melee. But good LORD, some of the clips you use are mind-breaking, shit you don't see anywhere else. The Link bombing himself into Luigi's downtaunt at 2:31 made me gasp. That shit is hype.
An interesting thing to note is the fact that Mario is considered to be an All-Around/Jack of all Trades character while is brother is High Risk, High Reward.
Luigi is a polar opposite to Mario in everything. Mario is red. Luigi is green. Mario is a bit fat. Luigi is a bit thin. Mario is very well rounded in smash. Luigi is very polarizing in smash. Nintendo probably made a lot of Luigi's kit specifically to be an opposite to Mario's. This is truly great attention to detail. Ya'llve heard this infinite times but, SSBU truly is extremely detailed.
May we please get an Art of Greninja Video? I love all of your "Art of" videos and I would love to see one for my boi. You make incredibly in-depths guides for these characters. Keep up the great work Izaw.
This video helped my luigi game immensly. It wasn;t obvious to me that his down tilt was so good on shield, general pressure and at the ledge, and I hadn't been zairing at all! My neutral and ledge-trapping game jsut gained a couple levels by watching! Thanks!
Hi , You can grab, down throw, short jump, delay the down air , fast fall , up B. is't true 25-30 % for light character , 30-38% médium and 40-44% heavy. Care he can DI the down air. Enjoy :)
In my honest opinion, I think Luigi has really solid neutral as dair zair fireball zair and fair zair r good spacing options, shield conditioning tools and combo starters. They can help close the gap pretty much. Luigi has an explosive combo game, amazing ledge guarding and trapping, solid neutral and a ton of kill confirms. The list goes on but his disadvantage state is really bad and landing is pretty hard too. I’d say he is a mid high tier or a high high tier.
I honestly don’t know how you make these so good. Izaw you’ve done it again. Just so much better than any other guides I’ve seen. I wish there was one for Lucas as there is no guide anywhere near this standard for him.
I miss the old cyclone- Personally I think something that be cool would be to make Mr L as an echo fighter, giving him the invincible cyclone and smash 4's grab, while Luigi would have the mash rising cyclone and his new poltergust grab
His new grab is probably the best tether (it confirms into itself holy shit), but his old grab is still better. Getting punished for missed tethers is how I lose half my stocks, and having a safe grab that works out of shield would make Luigi's win condition more consistent.
@@michaelbodey2474 You are considering its ledgeguarding potential when you say that, right? Assuming yes, I'm curious why you believe that doesn't make up for it being a tether, if you don't mind explaining.
@@delta3244 Luigi's edgeguarding and ledgetrapping is unremarkable. The tether makes it better, and you can confirm into downair if you anticipate the plunger finding its mark. But for the most part its just annoying to deal with. However, Luigi's punish game off of grab is so strong that giving him a consistent, spammable grab that works out of shield would be be much scarier to deal with because it makes Luigi's high-damage combos and kill confirms even easier and more consistent, as well as makes Luigi's shield much safer. Losing z-air would definitely hurt, but I feel it would help much more than it would hurt.
@@michaelbodey2474 I think Luigis shield is still pretty hard to pressure. Up-b OOS (which kills earlier than rest) and his aireals OOS are still really good against unsafe aproaches. imagine if he had a good shield grab, he would be even scarier to approach. But as you said, losing zair would mean losing a safe, fast projectile and a ledgetrapping tool.
awesome content and very usefull; but the buffered fireball shorthop tipp with a+b =smash doesnt work for me at all. was it changed in a patch or am i missing something
You don't exactly have to set A+B, that was a bit misleading. Alternatively, you can buffer a short hop fireball, then at the last couple of frames before you land, press the grab button. Works just the same. It's precise, but it's not been removed.
*_GAAASSSP!_* _Yaaaaaaaaaaayyy~!!!_ After 5000 years of begging and the day _After_ my Birthday we've got an 'Art of Luigi'!!! Correction: I'm seeing this the day *after* my Birthday 😅
Not sure what I thought the most during this one, it was either "Oh god" or "Why does that work?" with a small bit in the back of my head hearing Alpharad go "lUIgi iS bAD"
