8 factions produces 28 disctinct combinations of 2 factions. (7*8)/2. You divide by two so you don't count the same combos twice, otherwise Ninja Tricksters and Trickster Ninjas would be counted as 2 separate combinations.

Smash Up has my favorite name for an expansion of all time; The Obligatory Cthulhu Set. Even as a Lovecraft fan I respect the smarmyness.

Just to check your math, or "maths" as you say across the pond, but I think 8 decks is actually only 28 combinations. 64 would be 8x8, but that would include double decks, such as Ninja Ninjas, and repeats, such as Ninja Robots vs Robot Ninjas. Not to be rude. I just really like numbers. Still absolutely love this game and channel!

I am now a huge fan of the sheep faction... I went on a guy's weekend where we went to a bunch of OHL hockey games and we ended up playing it in the lobby of our hotel and a bunch of NHL superstars like Connor McDavid ended up coming in and played a different game right next to us.

3:58 Regarding the base decks: the rules state that you're supposed to use the bases from the SETS the factions in play come from. For example, you are playing a 3 player game featuring Ninja-Geeks, Cthulhu-Teddy Bears, and Alien-Zombies. Your base deck will include all of the bases from the base game (for Ninja, Aliens and Zombies), the Bigger Geekier Box (Geeks), the Obligatory Cthulhu Set (Cthulhu), and What Were We Thinking? (Teddy Bears). Also, if you want the exact number of possible faction combinations, it's n*(n-1)/2 with n being the number of factions available. Remember that you can't pair like factions, so you can't do Ninja-Ninja (as an example). At the time of this video, n is 83 (Goblins are now a thing). So, the number of possible combinations is 3,403.

That first smash up was amazing and resulted in a career Neesonce that's vast and varied (not just his Taken-esque films), the second one is pleasant and satisfying, and the third and final one is my favorite, resulting in the most successful solo career out of the Spice Girls. Great to see Laurie add a favorite of his in the Board Game Masterpieces line-up.

Wizard/time travelers, vampire/werewolves, and zombie/robots are a few I really like playing.

My son has this and several expansion decks. We play all the time.

Just got this for Father’s Day. 11 games later bought my first expansion. This game is the real deal!! As a former competitive TCG player, this scratches the itch and is more accessible to more people.

I have a similar experience in Smash Up in that it's one of the games that got me through the door into the hobby and yet I still come back to it all the time and I get every expansion. I've even helpes playtested 3 different expansions for them.

My old faithful was Pirates and Zombies, but ive mixed and matched so many of the expansions over the years now.

I get it now. As a former competitive Yu-Gi-Oh and MTG player we are itching for a new game. We play EDH now and have freezed our meta their so everything is equal and very fun (and fast ish… hour long games) but then that gets messed up when a new player comes in. They are too spikey so my wife and I wanna spend $200 to make our decks better. This seems perfect. We just wanna PLAY!! We love games

My go to faction combo is wizard mythic greeks. I love playing action after action after action

Using dice to keep track of the bases break point... THAT... blew my mind! Simple, smart, elegant... Oh... The game, yeah the game is amazing I got it in my colleciton, blast to play... but the dice though XD

So, the base game has 56 possible combinations, 82 would make 6642 combinations, as you don't multiply 8 by 8 you multiply 8 by 7 and 82 by 81

@norollsbarred Technically, there should be 56 different combinations in the starter kit. Not 64. You can't have one pack both times, so it can't be 8x8, but 8x7. EDIT: I have made an error. It is 28, not 56.

My friend showed me this game in its base for and it was a lot of fun! I used Ninjas with Dinosaurs and after playing I checked my decks cards. I'll be honest I was pleased. It wasn't till he mentioned there were expansions that I saw Dragons included.

I'd love to know a good faction to pair with Time Travellers. For the life of me, I've tried a TON of factions with those guys and nothing seems to click for me.

As someone who plays Wizard/Robots a lot, can I just say, dont let your friends play Wizard/robots, it is broken AF, and everyone will be judging every round as you play out your entire deck with next to no issues XD

I was actually convinced to try peanut butter and mustard as a teen, and found it.... not awful. I mean, I've not eaten it since, but I could not starve on it.

Less mustard, add a little horse radish, and you have something that leans into peanut sauce territory.

Picking two from 8 is not 8*8 because you can't combine with itself and order does not matter but " 8 (pick first) times 7 (pick one of the others) divided by 2 (eliminate duplicates of order)" or "8 over 2" = 8! / (2! * (8-2)!" or 28. With 82 it's 82! / (2! * 80!) = 3321.

Has anyone else tried peanut butter and cheeseburgers? They taste really good together if you also don't put on ketchup or mustard.

It's a good, fun silly game. Combination seems broken? Steal part of it away from the opponent(s). My favorite is Robot Zombies; they keep coming back, and keep powering each other up. So even when you kill some, they just return.

I've been playtesting this, overall I enjoy it.

If you lot are open to them, I'd love to hear thoughts on "Arkham Horror," both the boardgame and the card game. Love 'em both, but they're both VERY large time requirements with a lot of luck-based gameplay...but damned if I don't love them.

Actually, there are 28 combinations for 8 factions and 120 for 16.

Pro tip use 20 sided dice to keep track of how much you need to put on the base. Countdown dice specifically.

The mustard clearly wasnt that bad. #2: If there are 8 decks in the starter pack, you've got 56 combinations of decks, because you can't pick the same deck twice. #3: If there are 82 decks in total, there are 6642 combinations of decks. If, as someone says below, there are now 83, then there are 6806.

Ahem... allow me to be that guy.... there is not 64 combinations. It is technically 7+6+5+4+3+2+1... 28 Possible combinations. To go further, assigning every faction a letter, you have. AB, AC, AD, AE, AF, AG, AH, BC, BD, BE, BF, BG, BH, CD, CE, CF, CG, CH, DE, DF, DG, DH, EF, EG, EH, FG, FH, and GH. I'm a nerd... Don't hate me.

LOVE Smash Up! Unfortunately the German version is the worst port I've ever seen. Imagine the cards being waaaay smaller so you are barely able to read the smaller print and then imagine the cards have got a small white boarder so you can see even less of the art. Also you always have to pick up the bases, beause the print is so small that you are not able to read htem when they are on the table. This is so frustratingly bad

Superheroes and Zombies are just unfair. Same with Zombies and Robots. But theGeek faction has the tactical nuke of the game in the form of Felicia Day.

There are not enough "Prozd Card Game Skits" to accurately depict how much I didn't enjoy this game.

Robot Fairies is the one I enjoy the most Steampunk Dragons if in a control mood and I am tired of other people having fun. I also like Zombie Plants. But really anything robot is pretty strong and so are Zombies if you don't know what else to put in a deck start with those and branch out I say. Even Zombie Robots are rather decent.
