Fuckin-A right about that!!! (Sorry I got internally excited because I feel what you’re sayin’) Plus I only said for a friend. He uses too many swear words when it’s about music and the 90’s in particular…
I'll give modern technology a point for the ease of finding new music... But there's no comparison to walking into a record store with headphones on the walls, walking up to a strange album whose artist you don't recognize, putting on the headphones and discovering a life changing song
yep after Siamese Dream I had to get GISH and it totally blew my mind.(seriously some of the best percussion ever recorded).....along with Pisces and Mellon Collie, those 4 albums were a big chunk of what I was spinnin' in the 90's.......gotta admit SP spoke to me like no other band in that decade!!
@@jjflix79 Jimmy chamberlain was such a distinct and unique drummer that he was well known in Chicago before SP even got their first record deal with Caroline Records. People would come just to watch Jimmy drum.
I’m only 40 but I miss the 90s too. Those were my adolescent days. Grunge, then the JNCO era, Green Day, smashing pumpkins, tool, primus, Pearl Jam, sound garden, Alice In Chains, silverchair. I grew up early and had to learn to fend for myself in the 90s. By 13 I was playing in bars and having to sneak out when I got through with the shows.
The 90's were great times for me! Great music, no cell phone leash, no constant internet BS! I try to unplug as much as possible these days as there is way too much BS! I come to RU-vid just to listen to music such as this and chill out.
Mid to late 90's. Driving my car alone at night. Park by the beach. Look at the ocean, the moon light dancing off the surf. Alone....2022, still...alone.
I remember watching them perform this song the fall of '93 in Portland Oregon at a super small venue called the Laluna. It was a pre tour for Siamese Dream. Me and my crew were higher than kites at this show diggin the vibes. Such a killer show!
They came through Salem,VA and there were less than four hundred people there. Few years later saw them at Lollapalooza with forty thousand or so people. They did the same set.
This is the first Smashing Pumpkins song I ever heard and blew me away. Immediately started looking for their music and found Gish. Stellar!🤩 The whole Singles album is really amazing, especially starting off with Would by Alice In Chains, but this song uniquely stood out, and later found out why. The Pumpkins were the only ones on the CD that wasn’t from Seattle. For those who don’t already know that.🤙🏻
SMASHING PUMKINS SIAMESE DREAMS ONE OF ALL TIME GREATEST CDS. FORTUNATE TO SEE THEM N ATX N 21. ALSO ALICE N CHAINS R A GREAT BAND JERRY CANTRELL IS MASTERMIND B HIND A N C . I WAS FORTUNATE TO SEE BLIND MELIN RIP SHANNON KOONTZ.. AND A N C RIP LAYNE STALEY AND OZZY N 1992 N THE ALAMO CITY.. ROCK ON ..
No matter where you are I can still hear you when you drown You traveled very far Just to see you I'll come around Wen I'm down All of those yesterdays Coming down No matter where you are I can still hear you when you dream You traveled very far You traveled far like a star And you are All of those yesterdays Coming down Is it something someone said? Was it something someone said? Yesterday the sky was you And I still feel the same Nothing left for me to do And I still feel the same I wish, I wish, I could fly I wish, I wish, I could lie I will, I will try I will, I will, goodbye
@@keysersoze6854 thanks Keyser. besides my age I was busy in the 90s. Just catching up on the scene 20/25 years later. wouldve loved to have seen them.
remember this like yesterday....playing this Soundtrack and getting to THIS TUNE....I had never heard of Smashing Pumpkins but THIS TUNE spoke personally to me and I thought...."this is going to be my band!"........the next day I went to my record store to find Smashing Pumpkins and I saw this weird looking album cover with these Siamese Twins ....the rest is history!
I remember being a little kid and my cousin from Georgia brought the cd with him to Ohio to visit us. I liked it a lot really kind of got me into music
I was newly married to my first wife and got to see them live in Athens Georgia for the first time! Still awesome to just chill and drink beer and listen to these guys after all these years 😊
Ok this is absolute peak Pumpkins. It’s like a painting. It kind of goes deKooning-Pollock-Rothko-deKooning again. Forgot how much I love this song. Thanks.
The start up at 4:15 till the end is theeee best part I miss my dad man 😢 just makes me think about the times we had when I was growing up in the 90s I’m thankful for all the good music my dad showed me I’m glad I’m apart of that generation I wouldn’t want it any other way
I bought mine at a record store in Napa. Amery worked there. I was stunned the first time I met her. Just stunned. She had a boyfriend. Many weeks later she showed up at my practice studio. Her boy friend was the new drummer in the band, Mitch. We all became great friends. I wish all those friends I had then well.
Bought Gish and the 'Singles' Soundtrack at Tower Records on Guadalupe "The Drag" in Austin, TX in '91 & '92, respectively. Still love the music. The extended version of this song takes me further into the memories, it seems, than does the album version on Siamese Dream.
Night shifts cleaning floors in the Loft Restaurant in Yosemite National Park, listening to the singles soundtrack left in the cassette CD player by the cooks from the nights shift...90's
Me too man. I’m 27 and I feel like I am always being let down by the new musical artists that keep surfacing. I’ll always be a “teenager of the 90s” in spirit.
@@gangGreenthumbDitto. I'll be turning 50 in 2 months. My birthday wish is to travel back in time to the 90s. Life was pretty sweet back then, I just didn't know it. 😊
I remember living in Seattle when this movie and music came out like it was yesterday..... great place and times then. Pioneer Square, U-district, Lower Queen Anne, Capitol Hill. Everywhere was great. Before the collapse into a cesspool.
I love how music takes u bak to certain times good or bad and bad memories can b good, good memories can b bad. For me the pumpkins take me bak to 98 wen I met a certain girl and we played them for the neighbors whether they wanted us to or not, but been a fan since siamese dream, not sure if that's how u spell siamese but don't care hehe
The end of this song, from 4:45 on sounds a hell of alot like "Stormy Clouds (Reprise)" off of the Verve's 1995 Northern Soul Album. Two great bands at their shoegazed best.
this must be the long version rather then the radio version, never heard this version with longer guitar solo at the end. They are rockers at their hearts, for sure
Courtney Love... what a piece of work? If only i had musical talent? I could write about a girl like her? Got the album cover in photograph the other day? Mom sent it to me?
Aside from the soundtrack or movie, the drug scenes of the 90s are quite possibly better than the 60s. An improvement, however they sadly became a psychological nightmare and revamping itself as the hashtag me movement later on so we could all flashback at all the chaotic drunken high nights and pay for our sins. Am I alone in that??!?😢
imagine the most picturesque moment during the 93 tour.. they play this.. You're crowd surfing during this song.. and that moment when you hear "I wish, I wish I Could fly!!!' everyone throws you at once and you land 12 feet ahead towards the stage, breaking your ribs and the dreams of those you befell upon... That is one of my greatest memories of fandom..
I closed my eyes and smelled the snow.....tried to remember what it qas like to be angry in the fall.....but i wasnt.able to....tried to remember how great the cold air felt against my skin when i walked outside.....sometimes im so numb....until i snap back to reality...and i thi k a out the present moment that i exist in....and i look forward to my future my sweet Melanie
Saer means drown in Old English. It's Alucard Hall's Book, Elves in Anglo Saxon England - it was a Doctoral Thesis, and got published. Read it immediately; don't waste my time.
