"id probably have to kill myself to get a real reaction" a way deeper statement on the alternative scene than he probably realized.

Tearful foreshadowing. :(

He's right though. The fact that he faded away instead of burned out in his prime like Cobain will always garner him less respect than Kurt. And that's fucked up and wrong.

Very much agree. I always seem to count Cobain as a "one hitter" all any talks about is Nevermind nothing else really.

"I'd really have to kill myself to really get a reaction, you know." Eerie words given what happened with Kurt Cobain.

I saw them play this song - around that time in Atlanta at a club called Pergatory. During the live performance of "Siva" Billy went off on a full tangent during the "tell me tell me what your after" drew it out for a long time, when the band came back in full on the "YOU!" the old wooden floor in this wharehouse-turned club/venue buckled from everyone jumping. Perhaps one of the best concerts I ever attended in the 90's - I got to walk up to and talk with Jimmy after the show, no one really knew who they were yet. A few years after this and they were the biggest rock band in the world. Gish is still an amazing and powerful album that I still listen to from start to finish.

Crazy to see how similar a position we're in now as we were in the late 80s. The way Billy talks in this is how most rock fans feel now... Let's just hope the next Pumpkins or Nirvana are getting ready to change it up again!

wtf? You do realize Kurt didn't kill himself to....."get a reaction", right? You also realize Kurt was by no means the first person to have committed suicide, right? And lastly, I hope you realize people who commit suicide do *_not_* do it for attention. I mean....they're DEAD. Dead people aren't aware of any attention that may come from it.......because they're dead. -____-

I don't get it. This was 1991, probably even before Courtney latched onto him. Actually, at this time Courtney was chasing Billy Corgan. It wasn't until Billy's GF chased her off that she hooked up with Kurt, then had him killed so she can take his money. If it wasn't for Billy's GF at the time, it could've happened to Billy Corgan. He got lucky, though he still wrote & worked on Courtney's albums.
@soysaucehairdye7869
@soysaucehairdye7869 9 лет назад
Knute Lindstrom I really doubt Courtney killed Kurt. He had some digestion problems which ate away at him for years as well as becoming very jaded by being a poster child for some movement he had reservations for. I have had some physical ailments/medical conditions which caused me to attempt suicide so I completely see why Kurt went through with it at a moment of mental fragility. Add on the heroin addiction and it makes sense more than some master conspiracy where Courtney wanted his fortune. Billy has always said that he was suicidal during the writing of Siamese. The fact that he was more straight edged and anti-drug is probably what prevented him from going through with it.
