curious, what do you do for a living? do you do these for work, school, fun, or practicing for a job in the field? i am trying to get a solder tech job, but my experience was from highschool over 15 years ago. i have been a chef for most my life and now have a possibility to do what i was hoping to do as a kid. i have bought a few boards and came across your channel as a result of reteaching myself.

A lot of mistakes were made here. For one, you should never drag a soldering iron across like that. That's exactly how you fuck up the board and unglue the pads from the board. Always use the shotgun method whenever pads are so close to each other like that. That way you allow each solder joint enough time to cool down so you don't risk disconnecting the pad from the circuit. Secondly, half the leads were hanging over the pads like nails that haven't been cut for a month. All the leads should be centered on the pads. This is just shitty workmanship presented as if it's professional when it's not. Another problem is that most of the pads have too much solder on them. You can tell by looking at them that most of the pads have a convex solder joint instead of a concave joint. This is what happens when you try to just run through them with the soldering iron to get the job done as quickly as possible, instead of focusing on the quality of workmanship for each joint one at a time. You would have been better off using solder paste and a hot air jet using the staggered or shotgun method.
