As sad of a story this video was it teaches a few things: 1:Never EVER bottle up your emotions. It leads to you snapping at someone for no reason. 2: If something's wrong, talk to someone. They might be able to help you. And 3: Don't be sad that someone you cared for died, be glad they were there while they were.

This whole episode was Meggy going through the five stages of loss, and the first three were reprised and condensed into three sentences right before Meggy dropped her facade. Joseph in SML going through the five stages of grief in Joseph's Pet was this episode done better. Also, here's the stages: Denial: Joseph denies that his fish is dead. Anger: Joseph is angry at his friends. Bargain: Joseph tries to use a demonic ritual to get back his fish. Depression: When Joseph realizes his fish is dead, he gets sad. it has both comedic videos and emotional videos. It’s beautifully mastered in that way, I feel. Sure it’s evolved over the years but everything needs to move on. In the entertainment world it’s either adapt/evolve or die. Just look at COD. Been doing this since 2003 and it’s been in decline for a few years now. SMG4 needed to evolve as if a household video game franchise starts to decline from doing the same thing, how is a YT channel with less than 5 million subs going to survive? Y’know?

No, the moral is forced and hypocritical here. Desti was never her friend, yet SMG4(And the entire idiotic fanbase that is worse than the Sonic fanbase) keeps on making it look like they are best friends for 10 years. I don’t think this is going to start an arc, per se. It’s just exploring Meggy trying to overcome what happened in the Anime Arc. Though I do think the next Splatfest (Which won’t be until next year, most likely) will have an arc revolving around it. I can see Mario screwing things up again and angering Meggy, like in If Mario Was In... Splatoon 2 or Meggy’s Bootcamp, only requiring multiple episodes to reconcile with her this time.

I don't think this is an arc. But what I'm afraid of is once Meggy becomes the Splatfest Champion, what could they do with her after that? The only possible choice they'd have after that is put her in the same grave as Desti and kill her off. At least it'd partially be a happy ending because she managed to win Splatfest, and coincidentally the final one in both Splatoon and her life.
