Smike The Musical - 6 tracks 

I played Smike in our school performance of this and I remember the writer came to see it and I was SO excited. I went to talk to him after the show and he asked me who I played I was heartbroken 😂

Watched the musical on national TV as a boy... the songs stuck one off.

I can remember watching this with my family back in 1973 and again in 74 I was 9 @10 im 53 now and still have the original double album, now transfered on to cd love the music. Only wish it was put on the west end and the BBC would show it again.

Oof I played Smike in 91 and suddenly today "people think they see a mountain" came in to my head. This is the first time I've ever listened to any of the songs since then and wow they're like elevator music! Still brings back some strong memories...

My brother played the headmaster in their school production when I was about 8 years old and I spent the next year or so singing the songs over and over

I played Smike in our school play in 1978...scarey and fun at the same time. Great music💖

I played Smike back in 1980 in what was my first year of High School and my first role on stage. I remember in the rehearsals singing 'Parents (Better Off The Way I Am)' and getting lost in the character... then looking up to find 3 of the teachers at the school all sobbing. After the actual performances, I recall a couple of older girls at the school bringing food in for me as they couldn't separate me from the character. At the time I was living alone 5 nights a week... so now listening to the lyrics after all these years I understand just how much I related to the role.

my son paul stevenson was Smike in the play at hanley hight school bucknall stoke on trent ,he was brilliant , i will never forget him ,he sang brilliantly

The first musical I ever saw at the age of 4. I remember little else from around this time, must have made an impression! Does anyone know if i can get a recent version of Parent (better of the way I am?)
