Smile Direct Club one year on and three rounds of treatment later 

Thank you so much for your review. I have an appointment in Sacramento, CA, with SDC, for the scanning. I saw my regular dentist yesterday and he can straighten my teeth in about 3-4 months with Inman Aligners. He also does Invisalign. Inman will cost about $3600.00. After watching your review, as well as a few others, I’m going to cancel my appointment with SDC. As you mentioned, you aren’t able to see an Orthodontist and I like having a REAL person helping me. Yesterday, he felt around my mouth, and several times, he had me open, then bite down. Much more comforting and professional, especially when dealing with my mouth. Afterwards, he will install, for lack of a better word, a permanent retainer. I had braces at the age of 14, again at 35, I am now 57 years old. I did not wear my retainers for long enough and my teeth continue to move forward. I have some twisted teeth at the bottom, and my top teeth are starting to become crooked as well. Sorry for the long comment but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your video. This definitely helped me to make up my mind. 👍🏼

Had normal braces and was told the treatment will take a minimum of a year. I was expecting up to year and a half as not too complex case… In reality it took 2,5 years where I saw crazy (good and bad) shift in my teeth alignment. Following the end of the treatment you have to use your retainer, few of my friends didn’t follow up on the is and had to restart the treatment again

I highly recommend to go and see an Orthodontist in person. I currently have traditional Braces with the one of the best orthodontist in London. He/she can advise on best possible treatment either with Invisalign or braces. I think it’s not about the high amount of money you pay to see an orthodontist , it’s about paying for the personal care and touch and years of experience that an Orthodontist can give you throughout your treatment journey. SDC can’t give you that, ever.

I'm 4 months into my 6 months plan and am really impressed so far

I’ve had the same experience with Smile Direct club. They told me my case was very mild and they could correct easily. After two separate treatment plans, I get my little crooked tooth on the front bottom actually was worse. The aligners cut into my gums and I had to literally clip away pieces that had been molded incorrectly. I finally gave up!

to save yourself time and frustration.. look at the last aligner set they send. see if you like the results.. if not say something ahead of time.

im no expert on this, but i think it might just be a limitation of SDC.. with invisalign they will add buttons to the teeth for the aligners to grab onto and create movement where SDC cannot.. i wish you all the best

I thought about SDC because the price was cheaper then invisalign but then I researched and found out that SDC only focuses on straighting teeth and doesn't fix anything with tour bite and with teeth movement it can change your bite so your teeth don't fix together which can cause more problems. And there is no control on the pressure that are put on some of the teeth so that can then cause more issues where people teeth were breaking and falling out. So I choice invisalign it's controlled by and orthodontist and it can fix and make sure your bite is aligned right. The cost of invisalign is more but your get what you pay for in these situations

Feeling bad for all the naive people who fell for this scam and now the company filed for bankruptcy and left all its customers hanging. I know professional dentistry is not cheap, but it's the only responsible thing to do. You would not cheap out on a medical treatment would you? Why do people do that with their teeth? Like all scams, they offered something that was too good to be true, and took advantage of people's greed. Once the US Justice Department looks into this company, I am certain they will find it was not just bad management, but a proper criminal conspiracy to defraud the public.

Should of went with Invisaling in Turkey if you in Europe with fraction of a cost! Just need to look for good and cheap clinic there. I am having great experience one month in with invisaling!

Thanks for the update! I must say I admire your patience.. I've sent off the impression kit for my second set a couple of days ago but need to wait 4-5 weeks. My teeth have barely moved so far!! If this doesn't work I'm going to ask about getting some sort of refund.

I asked them if they would damage a crown and veneers they sent me a non answer by saying we may or may not please order an impression kit so I didn't bother

I did SDC it worked reasonably well and delivered what it said. It take take much longer than the advertised four months though took about a year. Should’ve went with Invisalign prob would’ve been quicker and been able to fix issues SDC couldn’t. That being said SDC didn’t scam me and I think they reasonably provided what they said they would.

Not an expert but I’m on invisilign and My lower tooth is similar to yours. What my orthodontist told me is that first she needs to create space and then move the tooth so my first 10 trays are going to expand my teeth and create the space that my crooked tooth needs to be straight again. Maybe you can ask a second opinion with invisilign? To see what would they do? The first appointment is usually free

Invisalign is a lot better! My teeth are perfect with Invisalign. I see my Invisalign orthodontist only twice a year

Thanks for sharing your experience Claire, that is such a shame having spent so much already....to not have the results you want. Is your implant on your bottom teeth, would that have affected it? I need to get an implant but right now dentists are not seeing new patients unless urgent.

Wow I got 7 treatment already, they told me that I will get my teeth straight on 6 months. They still not straight 🤦‍♀️😫

Thank you for sharing. Extending your treatment seems normal. My 3 months treatment turned into longer. Ive learned to look for an improvement not perfection. I have talked to ppl that used their Dentist and have gotten the same results.

I skipped around inside your video so apologies if you did cover it, but how much did you actually end up paying? In your original video you said you'd paid (1500-1600 pounds), but then did you have to pay that again? (3x would be approaching 5,000 pounds). I'm not sure if the prices have changed but my teeth were in a similar state to yours and I managed to get invisalign done by an actual dentist (a private one at that where I didn't have to wait a century for an appointment) for about £2000 with a 6-week teeth whitening course included. My invisalign plan took about 15 weeks (roughly 4 months) so I would say you could find a good deal if you shop around. In my case proper invisalign they will attached little plastic bead things to my teeth to hook on the aligners but it sounds like what you received was quite rudimentary in comparison. That likely explains why you didn't see as much movement compared to proper invisalign. Also I guess you have done teeth whitening before but my god what a nightmare. Some of the worst pain I've felt in my entire life!

2.5 years and 5 treatment plans later, I'm still no where near what was promised. I would have went with Invisalign if I knew...

Every new set of aligners is for free right ? So eben if u do 4 or 5 rounds u don't have to pay for it, right?

get your money back !! I did invisalign and it works better because they use anchors and they do regular in person checkups

I’m having to do the same thing. They expect there customers to pay for retainers even with the possibility they will want corrections made.

Had just begun my 4 months plan with them... My case is believably mild. Only front teeth should be fixed in this 100+ days. I hope things would go well with you and me. I would probably come back for another comment several months later. Cheers

Wait when I spoke with them they said I could get in contact and even video call with my assigned orthodontist.

Same scenario here and now Smile Direct wants more money. More money after 4 years of treatment

These trays aren't miracle workers lol they are designed to give you the best possible smile you can have !

you have a million dollar smile. I wouldn't fret on the little bit of crowding. No one is going to be examining your mouth that closely except your dental heigenist.

Guys save yourself from the headache and go for Invisalign. Actually get a consultation. What goes in the steps for what. It’s much more complicated than you think and there’s a reason why the person in the video still complains about the outcome. I have dental background and there’s things such attachments , rubber bands , scans , irp ( space reduction for crowded teeth ). It’s intricate but that’s what a dentist is for. Don’t buy into this BS😂

How old are you? Maybe you should just learn to live with your 90% perfect smile

What do you expect? Do you own surgery?? Do your own orthodontics without an orthodoncist, thanks God you did not miss your teeth
