I have many fond memories of Smiley as he was a friend of my mom & dad bk in the late 60's 70's ...my dad also sang & played guitar and was know as the singing truck driver....Will always remember Smiley talking about his 1st guitar that he made out of a baseball bat...thank you for this sight

Your posting of Smiley Bates are just the greatest . I have another gutar picking song I would love to hear again , and that would be "In The Mood" . wow I never ever heard it played on guitar Before Smiley Bates played it ....Thank you
