charlie looks hot in a maid outfit change my mind thanks for watching!! all credits for smiling friends go to Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack !! :))) tags! (ignore these) #smilingfriends #animation #cartoon #adultswim
The deep lore is that that Cameo he got was bc he loves the Gwimbly games, and he only smiled bc he got to finally kill that CEO who's been mistreating his favorite IP for decades.
regardless of who told him to wear it i just think it's really funny that charlie had a maid dress, in his size, stored away somewhere for such an occasion
James is literally one of Zach’s hypotheticals. “hey Tomar what would you do if a massive buff guy broke into your house and started punching within an inch of your face repeatedly. And every time you talk he just repeats what you say in a mocking tone” lmao
“Well I’d tell him I just want him to smile, please just smile.” “Okay, he then reaches out and pulls your nose off your face and says he was sick of staring at it. Then what do you do?” “I don’t know, I’d probably scream my ass off!”
Oh my lord, it is. Leaves the episode depressed, fit, same weirdly stretched forward headshape, Charlie WANTS to help, saves Alan by killing with a melee weapon instead of a gun, first episode of the season. I'm having similar boss like meltdown "yes... anti Desmond, it's genius, why didn't I think of that"
@@HellecticMojoadditionally he threatens to kill Charlie if it'll make him smile, and Desmond threatened to kill himself if they didn't make him smile
Also, on a design standpoint, James is very similar to Desmond, with some sames and some opposite: • James is muscular while Desmond is fat. (Opposite) • James and Desmond had the same shaped head, similar nose and pointed out chin (Same) Maybe they made James similar to Desmond on purpose
im gonna be 🤓 for a second but i think he walked in, genuinely looking to get help when his insecurities took over and he started doing his tough guy routine
@@shen-qf9mc no because he literally asks what the place he entered was and then asked if they could make him smile like he had no clue how that even works
The fact that he had Charlie's picture could imply he wanted to meet and befriend him but doesnt know how so he just barged into his workplace and introduced himself to Charlie as a client.... or it could mean nothing and just a part of the joke which honestly is probably what it really is
@Picked-man that's part of the routine, he got scared of asking directly for help and started to act like a jackass instead, pretending he doesn't know where he is in a roundabout way to ask for help (me when i headcanon)
Highly unlikely in the series to do this, but I'd be 100% invested in a James redemption arc. Where he actually does find proper help to give him the tools to actually reciprocate and care for the people who care about him.
@@Polomance862 yeah I would love to see at least one episode of James getting his life together or at least background gages of him slowly getting better
If I had a nickel for every time Smiling Friends opened up the season with a depressed nihilistic guy smiling because he killed something I’d have two nickels
He is an arrogant jerk. And at the end it shows he's done it before., hurt people he cares about. We can pity him, but you gotta be careful about people like that. They will refuse to change and hurt people who try to help.
@@YouAreStillNotablaze Sometimes, like James puts it; he knows he's hurting the people that care about him. But he just doesn't have the emotional tools to reciprocate or change his behavior. He needs severe professional help, something that Charlie can't give him.
@@YouAreStillNotablaze James only need a bit of a help. He is too cling to his image of an arrogant jerk he cant stop it. If charlie have persuade him more, i think he would be happier.
I like how James somehow had a photo of Charlie framed in his apartment. I feel like we'll see him again somewhere in the future, though probably not soon.
@almir-chan9570 having James be a new member of smiling friends would probably be genius like I have an idea that his position of employment at smiling friends could be security because dude's built like a tank which would be a perfect qualification for a security guard
1:19 One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life, imagine being on the floor, mortally wounded and someone sitting there mocking you as you cry, lol.
"Tomar, what would you do if someone ripped off your nose and kept repeating everything you said to 911 in a mocking tone?" "I mean, I think I'd be pretty upset"
I love how when James first enters the episode he doesn’t open the door using his hands, he doesn’t move at all. He just stands in front of it and it opens with the musical cue
@@yaraduardo1287you can watch it in your room in the bathroom in the plane in the bathtub in your room anywhere you want. But you need a subscription to adult swim or other streaming services that have it. Then its all laughs and giggles when you watch this one of a show
“Tomar, what if like a really buff 6’8 dude just busted into your house and asked for milk? But like he’s super aggressive about everything he does and says but he’s also secretly in love with you?”
To the people thinking he is redeemable, I get it's only because it's a cartoon. But using suspension of disbelief on that fact to treat this as real... Remember, he ripped Charlie's nose off, threatened to kill him slowly, then killed someone in front of him and apparently that murder really was the only thing able to make him laugh. I would have nightmares if a guy like that wanted to be friends with me.
@@oberonpanopticon I dunno I think it's funnier if it was him, and him wanting the little ps1 critter to shit talk some people in his cameo seems in character.
@@oberonpanopticonits a good thing this is a completely fictional show not based in our world; theres so much illogical bullshit that happens that it's much more likely he IS the only James in their world
@@oberonpanopticon But it’s in their universe, and it would make sense for the episode if it genuinely was the same James as others have pointed out. Also, I’m not entirely sure why you felt the need to interject your condescending question. Chill lmao
1:37 The only panic in the death was that he might not be able to get one more nugget, but when he does, his eyes convey the sense of "Okay, that's better" then he dies without regret immediately. This supports the existence of a "last rite" nugget protocol where death is imminent, and the success rate seems to be a good bottom-lining of the fact it's even necessary
Both Desmond and James kill threats to the smiling friends which interests me at the fact that even the visibly downright broken have a sense of either self defense or protective instincts still no matter how twisted they may at first act or seem
That may be true in this fictional show, but in reality extremely broken people who are depressed like Desmond, don't have those protective instincts. They let it happen. Don't know if you were saying irl people but what I said is still relevant.
desmond killed the tiny things because it was running at him with a sharp object, and james killed the CEO because the CEO was trying to kill him and also because james is a dick
@TheOfficialDjProduct I was in a similar state to Desmond at one point, and I still had those instincts (barely). I think the show is more metaphorical, though, about this idea.
True, it’s why they don’t cross to the other side right away it requires a final push to drive them to that state. Also Desmond ended up becoming much happier because he is exterminating pests for a good cause while James kills people for a quick dopamine fix and then realizes he messed up.
@Yipper64 james:"Goddammit, I just keep fucking up *starts rambling and mumbling* Charlie: "whoa whoa whoa dude calm down, I uhh, you want a drink?" James: *perks up immediately* "YES"
james looks at the security guard for 3 seconds, says "this person is annoying me" and throws him up so fast and so hard, it destroys the ceiling and sends said guard up into the sky, never to be seen again.
For me james represents all the newcomers to smiling friends, expecting to be entertained with a negative attitude towards the show, it is so clever it cracks me up just watching him for the first time, ripping the plate off the building
i think all the weirdly shaped humans like the boss, desmond, and james are the children of human/critter couples. Which probably leads to their more "eccentric" personalities.
If you look at James' character outline you'll realize he was drawn over the buff doge meme. Edit : Please keep the number of comments at this level please majesticbacon9196
It looks like if james wants to game on his pc he has to spread his legs around that cradboard box and lean foward while sitting on his bed, and the thought of that killed me
He’s just a man with severe anger issues that is causing everyone to drive away from him, at the end what he really needed is just a smile, and I’m so glad he found one.
Literally the funniest after credits scene either. With just an extra ten seconds they add so many layers to James character by revealing he’s an extremely emotional flawed character that only wants somebody to love him 🤣
