He regularly abused his staff then made them sign non disclosure agreements and had his "underwater goons" threaten their families about speaking out. @@someonesendhelppleaseThis guy has it down pretty well. There is no subtlety, buildup, hell, there’s hardly any structure of a joke at all, just a rapid fire of punchlines. The idea of a Smiling Friends training program is already kind of hacky, but I seriously want anyone who reads this and disagrees with me to go back through this video and count how many times the punchline is “cute thing having/doing inappropriate thing.” If you strip away the Smiling Friends characters in this, it’s completely unrecognizable. I get it’s just a bumper, and I get not everyone is good at comedy in the way Michael and Zach are, but it’s just so hacky. It shocks me that anyone who is a fan of the show likes this.

This is literally the opposite of Michael and Zach’s humor. Whatever hack made this only has the comedic prowess of repeating two or three god awful too-quirky jokes rapid-fire. The duo at least understand subtlety and buildup which this guy clearly seems to lack. I’m shocked the people who are fans of the show like this.

I have confidence that Zach and Michael have an iron grip on the writing/production of the show proper, but this is a bad sign of what adult swim will do to this if it’s left in the hands of some of the talentless hacks over there. Animators are really some of the most creative artists out there, especially when they have more creative control over the project. sad how animated shows get picked up from pilots and put on things like netflix or amazon, only to have their style so completely changed as to be uniform to other animated shows on the streaming platform. At least AS tries to let a show have their signature style - even if they have been picking up some real boring ones over the years - and i bet there are great pilots out there just wating. Bug bomed would have made a great show, and the style is so smooth and unique, though you can see what the influences are. Think the style of like classic King Star King. the Style is an extremely unique and recognizable one in the original episodes Smiling Friends is really good though
