Tiamat, Smite's newest Babylonian God makes its way into Season 8 by cleansing the battleground of Cthulu's destruction. The goddess reshapes the world into her own image, which will change SMITE's map for Season 8.
Tiamat is designed beautifully. She looks like a final boss of a Final Fantasy game or something. Gilgamesh being instantly recognizeable (and awesome) is definitely a treat, too. Also, there's some sweet irony that they used the eldest god to defeat the newest. It's as if they said "Don't worry guys, we didn't forget why you're here..."
One of the most badass trailers. Tiamat defeats Cthulhu, reveals her intentions gradually, has a kickass design and delivers Gilgamesh a sick burn. The best trailer is still Baron Samedi´s though.
Still my favorite trailer. SMITE is literally the reason I go lt more Into Tiamat's legend. Love her design, sounds all of it! Long live the Primordial Dragon Mother!
@@GodsTears42 She is basically the mother of the first generation of gods and way before king gilgamesh. She also suppose to be the mother of dragons and was slain by marduk the storm God (a first generation God, also there is a war lol). Her body pull a full ymir and became the heaven and earth
@@glarnboudin4462 wich is the reason Smite said they had no interest in adding any great old ones. In terms of the story there building. It would fuck everything sideways.
@@SHADOWscreepypasta honestly i think they eventually might but too add the great old ones i think the titans might be able to either slow them down or stop them in terms of smite lore. I do agree they will fuck everything sideways in terms of story but i also think its too early in the story to even bring in any great old ones Like my boy Hasturr
Tiamat is an actual God. She is one of Babylon's primordial gods, and existed long before Greece was an empire. She isn't something out of a DND campaign people. KNOW YOUR HISTORY.
in the new monsterverse its hinted at ghidora being the inspiration for tiamat in mythology :D shes sometimes depicted with 3 heads, so that would line up :P
this is way worse than hell and back hell and back had so much personality and was way more action packed. if you think this is better go watch hell and back again
Most people don’t know about Mesopotamian myth because christians wants people to forget about it. The more you learn about Mesopotamian mythology, the more you see that the Bible is just plagiarism.
Nah they have to make a good story for the game what I’m saying is going by mythologies and such most of the cutscenes wouldn’t make sense. Like technically Zeus shouldve been able to beat Cthulhu but we needed a story. Like Gilgamesh would be comparable to say Achilles and Tiamat comparable to Ra Zeus and Odin.
@@ya_daddy4454 since Tiamat is primordial she is on the level of Nox, Terra and the other primordials. Which would be above gods like Zeus. Primordials are the physical embodiments of not just the rulers like as are most gods. Primordials are why things exist and would not exist without them. Even in Greek myth Zeus knows his limits and does not dare anger gods such as Nyx.
@@antonioc5062 Very true very true. But why is it that Zeus feared Nyx but not any of the other primordials. It’s only stated that he feared Nyx, but never any of the others. Like Tartarus Uranus or Chronos. Either Zeus hasn’t had any encounters with the others nor heard of them which isn’t plausible. Or Nyx could be significantly more powerful than the others. And if Zeus knows of all of them and only fears Nyx then I think he has enough power to match the others and Nyx is just stronger. There can also be the fact that Nyx is very similar to the fiction Kratos. Quick to anger and doesn’t listen to reason. So Zeus might fear her because she can’t be reasoned with and the other primordials can. Or I can be getting this all wrong please let me know your thoughts
@@ya_daddy4454 most primordial seem to be quite passive including Nyx. The only reason she would be angered is because of her children. Tartarus would have no reason to be angered unless you disrespected his realm. Chronos only exists in myths that don't include Kronus the titan. Who basically is the same deity but rather a primordial is a titan. Nyx is more than likely the most powerful of her sibling primordials. Considering in alternate Greek religion she is seen to have bore all the primordial and not Chaos. A primordial does not need to really actively fight anyone. Gods only govern certain things. Primordials are the reason things exist. Without Gaia there is no Earth, without Nyx no night, etc. You can think of the gods quite literally are caring for their ancestors. Also think of it this way. Look at the children she had, most of the certainties of life. Some good, some terrible. Think of the things that call the night time it's home. The things she could unleash. Some of her children she bore alone. She does not need her mate to have kids. Something only a primordial has successfully done (I know Hera did but look how he turned out. Disabled and ugly but this could just be because she bore him out of spite). Nyx with the help of her children and brother Tartarus helped shape the Underworld. I could go on. But I guess moral of the story as long as you don't invoke her wrath which seems to only be through the harm of her children, she like most primordials really don't with to govern anything just do their job. Nyx is one the few goddesses seen as a motherly figure. You don't see her participating in anything petty, evil or even mean. Which you can't say even for Olympians who are quite frequently mean, petty and sometimes downright evil. She does her job and cares for her children. Of all the primordials and even some gods she seems to be the most sensible.
Knocked gilgamesh out of the park, his design is perfect (hoping hes extremely tall like in the stories). Its actually one of the better designs in smite id say, im really surprised -Tiamat on the other hand.. just one head? What? Looks cool but cmon- Edit: Tiamat is a separate entity from Lotan. Canaanite knowledge ≠ Babylonian knowledge tiamat has one head
@@Prushinthespirit i dont play dnd im talking mythology. I was wrong though, tiamat has just one head. Its related entities from other cultures that tend to add heads, dnd just adds to the confusion with that
For anyone who’s not aware, she’s the first and only god in the entire game capable of achieving a PASSIVE 🔥84% dmg migation🔥 Making her the tankiest god in the game.
For those who are here because they know mythology and they like the game giving them these ancient figure to play with and know the history of them I have a question about Tiamat. I know she is sometimes called a sea serpent and a dragon, but there is an image of her I constantly see, and is the one I most associate with her that is a feathered cat with bird feet. What is that image? Where is it from and why is it always the one I find looking for her original depictions?
@Santiago Sosa Yeah, and irl I believe romans took inspiration for things based off greek But what I mean is that smite lists him as roman rather than greek
DnD gods are usually taken from or at the very least inspired through mythos gods and monsters. I doubt they would add it as a pantheon of its own considering this. BUT that does not mean they can't be skins for the actual real myth gods. Ya never know
@@bbburstdatxboxlive whys that? With his friend enkidu he killed a spirit of the forist and the bull of heaven. @@leonwinchester9865 oh what was that about his mum also being the Queen of gods and making her husband give really op abilities to her son ? was that something i heard idk
@@PHNXFireBird even Tiamat is called a dragon in some of her legends. The _figure_ of a Griffin is just an open interpretation to dragons that many cultures are prone to making.
For those who say this is cash grab, do remind yourself that you're the one who invests your gems and money onto the skin. In basic ways, they create the skin, you buy it. And you have the ability not to buy it. And when you spend your money on the skin, you then go on telling them that they are stealing your money, when it is YOUR pocket money buying the skin. Anyone who says otherwise can beat it, because I'm not taking this word back.
Well, it's her debut trailer, i know they must show her like a powerfull being.... But we all know she could never defeat a primordial cosmic God like Cthullu
0:38 - Zeus copies Raiden from one of MK cutscenes :D or is it Avatar last airbender reference? :D Tiamat: this realm...can be remade....in my image Bahamut flies by... Bahamut casts MEGAFLARE...
She is seen both as a motherly figure and a dragon. It just depends where in the myth she is being referred to. The beginning focuses on her creating rather than what form she takes. She is a primordial deity so you can argue she can take whatever form she pleases. Since primordials are the reason things exist and not just govern it like a normal god would.
