Is anyone else getting a little tired of hearing about how disappointing this tournament was? Like, I'm not gonna say it wasn't anticlimactic; but here's the thing, what do you want them to do about it? There's nothing Hi-Rez can do to stop one team from just showing up and blowing everyone out of the water. Sometimes the Superbowl is a stomp, sometimes the Stanley Cup finals isn't even close, it's the nature of competition. I'm not saying you can't be disappointed, but I just don't think it's the most productive criticism to criticize something no one has any control over.
Exactly. The point of a tournament is to find the best (the winner), not to be super close and climactic. Yes, close matches are exciting, but the players are playing to win, not to put on a show.
I think this was a great tournament format honestly, Ghost came in the favorites and they played a normal amount of sets. We didn't have a bloated bracket where Ghost had to play an extra Bo5 and RNG had a reasonable chance at winning everything (if they had managed to beat Ghost in the Semis I think they could have beaten Radiance as well). The last round was anti-climactic but the tournament was excellent.
Dude you're vids are amazing, I love the SPL but I can't sit through all the games as it just takes too long, these highlight vids are the perfect thing for people like me, HiRez should pay you to make these full time! Big respect for trawling through and editing all that video man.
Really great editing on this one man. I'd recommend this video to anyone as a go to for a highlight reel for any missed matches. Hearing Dolson on that RNG V SNG set was awesome, he's come a long way just this season alone.
(SPOILERS) As much as I wanted a close final due to how great the finals were in Phase 1 playoffs between Radiance and Ghost, I feel like a sweep only further separates Ghost from the crowd and opens the door for a David vs Goliath story for the SWC. It is not often in Smite history that the top team from the year takes the SWC, and if Ghost does indeed do it, they will easily go down as one of the best teams of all time, which is something to celebrate on its own. But similar to last year, I can see the potential for an upset with how close most of these teams were, especially through Phase 1. Every team is going to be training for Ghost, as in order to win, you have to expect them as your opponent at some point, so who can pull off an upset? My money is, as per usual, on Radiance. But like this tournament, we will get to see some great playoff series along the way regardless between a lot of close teams. Always rooting for Barra's team in the back of my mind, too. They're heating up at the right time and actually looked pretty good against Ghost in these playoffs. Pumped for SWC even though I cannot attend in person! Thanks for the collection video, Betty! Excellent work as always.
I think it is hard to ban Set as he doesn't really bring CC and is technically easier to kill than someone like KA. I think Radiance's thought process was to not allow Set to snowball and otherwise he is manageable. I do think Radiance mostly lost this set in the P's & B's though, I was pretty disappointed especially in their second wave of bans each time. I thought for sure they would ban out Khepri in the second wave of bans in Game 1, and after he stunted their kill control in game 1, he became a top 3 ban for them in games 2 & 3. Had they banned him game 1, I believe they would've won that game and we would've had quite a different set. You simply can't allow Khepri if you're going to allow Set imo. Other thoughts on Picks and Bans: Heim ban was clearly not worth, and could have been used to remove an actual counter pick to your intention (such as Hel > Persephone). I was also disappointed that they didn't ban Nox game 2 on wave 2 of bans when intending to pick Bastet, when even the casters anticipated PBM picking up the Nox support. Bastet into Nox is a losing game, as is Persephone into Hel. In my eyes, these match-ups made a bigger difference than Set did, FineO was just playing incredibly well and picking up the pieces of the draft mismatch. Lots of room for improvement! With some refinement, I do believe if Radiance gets another crack at Ghost, it will be much closer.
@@apexfutz2505 yes i hope they don't again cuz they are a really good team, steamrolling, but they need to transition this into worlds if they want to get far and not throw
It was awesome to see all the highlights in one place And I loved the zoom in on the players faces! I always felt like I was missing their reactions when I watched it live
Thanks to the advice Fineo and Panda gave us at the end, I'm so ready to start grinding ranks, I'll be masters in no time at all 👌 I can't believe they leaked their whole strategy to the world just like that.
Fineokay is by far my favorite SPL player he just runs through teams when he’s making plays but to be fair most solos can if their feed but he just makes it look so easy
I haven’t seen any playoff games cause I watch the RU-vid VODS, but if Ghost can win with no true tanks, I think they have the worlds, knock on wood 🪵 Edit: I was talking about the Renegades game, but after watching that Radiance game, holy shit. They’re ready for worlds
Love that! All the music is in the description - Powerrun is the first set, Miami Life is sng v rng, LazerHawk ghost v rng, Motor is ssg v Radiance, and 1989 is ghost Radiance. Hope that helps my man!
I just don’t understand how FineOkay runs the first 2 games on Set and you still give it to him every time. Even after the first I would have banned it away from him. I love Radiance but in my opinion the games were lost in P&B’s
The only problem is if they ban set then they leave king arthur unless their willing to devote to first phase bans just to solo so either way it’s a lose lose
Solo lane has too many broken gods, and FO masters most of them. Arthur, Cthulhu, Cu Chulhain, Set, Ratatoskr, Camazotz, Osiris. When this gods get ahead, its a steamrolling fest. I foresee many solo lane nerfs incoming
The thing is though, they would have to top ban Arthur then set and that still leaves Cthulhu and other strong characters. They have also used almost half of their bans against one player. Which opens it up for the rest of ghost a lot.
I’m a ghost fan mostly because fine okay was the first RU-vidr I watched for smite but how can people say ghost blew threw everyone it was mostly close games and In a lot of games ghost was down in kills until the last 2 team fights
