Going to trade the wife's spinner in for this M&P 380 EZ tomorrow. Perfect size for someone with larger hands yet "ez" for those without a gorilla grip for whatever reason to rack the slide. I personally, am not a fan of the Mattie Mattel type pistols nor hammerless. Really dislike the so called pocket pistols. I think S&W did good with this one. Good quick review.
Yo this was a great review... I'm a new shooter (male) and like the simplistic design and safety - I have two girls - 4 and 6 yr old... Things happen, so, I can appreciate all of the safety precautions... Just picked one up this week - shot it today during my CCW training here in Tulsa, Oklahoma - very nice - 50 rounds with no malfunctions!!! :)
The thumb safety blocks the trigger from moving. The grip safety lifts the trigger bar to engage the hammer sear. With out the trigger bar engaging the hammer sear, the pistol can NOT fire. The thumb safety is not necessary however for some shooters there is a feeling of added safety with it. I'm a firearms instructor and I use my EZ as a training tool, practice pistol and EDC. I have yet to have a malfunction. I use 90 gr FMJ for practice and Hornady 90 gr. FTX for EDC and I always carry 2 extra magazines loaded with the FTX rounds.
Target group: Elderly, Women, new shooters and arthritic shooters. Geeze that's about 80 % of the population. Very low effort to rack the slide and very mild recoil.
