Smith & Wesson M&P 5.7 with Holosun 507K X2! Great Combo!

Hello to all my viewers and subscribers! Today, I'm showing one of the options for a red dot on the new 5.7X28mm cartridge from Smith and Wesson. Here are the 3 red dots that will fit the 5.7 (as per Smith and Wesson's Customer Service):
1) JPoint
2) Crimson Trace CTS1500
3) Holosun 407/507K
I went with the Holosun because I like having the red dot inside of a circle (like the EoTech models) since my eye just goes to that more quickly.
This is a flat shooting cartridge and is accurate out to 100 yards because it shoots so fast and flat, so get a red dot on this handgun so you can maximize that caliber!

Great video, thanks for sharing! I will say I have the same setup and sent Holosun an email on June 11th (Sunday) and just heard back from them this afternoon (June 13th). They simply requested pictures of the optic with SN and to provide them with where I bought it. Said once I provide the requested info, that they'll ship the screws out. We shall see what I receive in the coming weeks. Also, this setup with a DA Mask HD running subs is pretty amazing! Update(6/14/23): After providing Holosun with the proof of purchase, I immediately received a shipping confirmation. I will report back once I receive the screws.

Thanks for watching! Yes, Holosun finally got back to me and it took them over 2 weeks to finally get me the torx head screws. I kept them, but just left the ones I purchased at my local hardware store in the red dot. I love that gun and would carry it!

Good review, and it's great to see 5.7mm firearms proliferating. Fiocchi just launched a new 40gr TMJ line this week too! Have a subscription @Doc G's Reloading, from one small gun tuber to another...we have to stick together, us little guys! :)

Hey LaMar, thanks for watching! Yes, that's exactly what I got at the hardware store. My store didn't have Torx head bolts only hex key bolts. Holosun finally got back to me by email and are supposedly sending me the appropriate screws. It's been over 10 days now, and I still haven't received anything bay mail. I've had the gun out shooting already and I may just hang on to those bolts once I get them.

am i supposed to take the plate off before i put the holosun on or does it screw into the plate

Thanks for watching and your question! Yes, you must remove the plate and the Holosun mounts directly to the slide. The screws that come with the Holosun were not the ones that fit the threads on the slide, so I had to go to my local hardware store to get the hex head bolts. If you don't mind waiting 2 weeks, you can contact Holosun by email and they'll ship out the Torx head bolts that fit. I did that, and just kept them as back-ups.

We have the same issue with shooting 4" low. So one comment was to check the bore center. Not sure how to do that.

Thanks for watching! Well, a couple of updates. First, I mistakenly thought the Sig SRD22X was rated for 5.7 and it's not. Secondly, one of the rounds must have hit the end-cap of the suppressor because it bent the opening. I had to send it back to Sig and thankfully, they are going to inspect and repair it at no charge (they didn't even charge me for shipping). They also told me that it's a one-time deal because I shouldn't have used it on my 5.7. Now, my Silencer Co. Sparrow is rated for 5.7 and I'm going to order their Switchback model once it comes back in stock--which is rated for all 22, 17, and 5.7 calibers.

@@docgsreloading7985 This gun is my wifes and she loves it, light racking and recoil. We shot it with a sparrow no problem. Also ran it with 62 grain Fiocchi subsonic suppressed and non suppressed. Ran just fine. Love the gun. The red dot would fix the sight picture window, but I think we will send it in to have it checked first.

I have the same set up and one of the two sets of screws that came with the HS507-K seemed to fit and tightened well enough for me to try the sight before firmly setting the sight using blue Loktite. Wrong! the screws worked loose after 14 rounds and the sight fell off the gun. In all fairness Holuson customer service sent me two screws at no cost as soon as I described my problem (6x32x7/16). Smith & Wesson should have done their part and provided information for the correct size of screws but I guess with a new model gun and a wide choice of red/green dot optics on the market it will take some time to gather all the data.

Do you really expect Holosun to supply screws for every type of pistol available. However Holosun will send you the screws you need but it has been hard to contact their customer service since covid, I had to buy screws for my PSA rock, S&W 5.7 , Ruger 57, Sig P320 6-40 screws, Sig P365. and did not expect the gun manufacture to supply the screws with their supposed optic ready slides.

Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I disagree. For about $500.00+ cost of the optic they can include the screws I need to mount their optic. Funny thing is, now Holosun does include the screws for the S&W 5.7. There aren't that many options for thread pitch and length, so they can include them if they do their research. You're absolutely entitled to your own opinion, mine just differs. Thanks for your comments!

Blame S&W for the screw issue. All other companies use M3 or M4 screws for RMS optics. S&W is the problem by using the non-standard to RMS optic screw size (they use 6-32 instead). Quit blaming Holosun because they are not at fault...S&W is.

Hardly call it "whining" when you pay around $600 for the gun and $300 for the sight and neither manufacturer has provided enough details on which screws should be used with which weapon. On the other hand you could just drop the gun and sight off at your LGS and pay $50 to have him install the sight. Many gun owners like to modify their weapons personally and have the torque driver to do it properly so it's a no brainer once they get the right screws. I think I would delete "whining" in favor of "learning", which is what these videos and comments are all about.
