S&W listened to us revolver fans and brought back the magnum K in many new options. LOVE these! After more than a decade of bellyaching about the frame lock, I gave in and I'm happier for it. These new K frames are AWESOME!

Awesome video! Loomis actually used a model 15...but S&W hasn’t added that to the Classic line...yet. I hope they do, and the 3” 13 would be awesome additions.

The grips that come on the new classic Smith's are also Altamont. Love the model 19. IMO the neo mag mention on every reload is getting to be a little much. 😊

Beautiful revolver! Mine is a 4” Model 66 combat magnum dating back to 1973 when it was purchased new by a friend who recently sold it to me. He fired it three times and put it in his safe until I got it about a year ago. These, along w/the Model 15 in .38 spl., (our issued service weapon in the ‘60s & ‘’70s) were the finest revolvers S&W made IMHO.

Why don't you use a speed loader, instead of those loading strips? You would be able to reload much quicker.

Speed strip is slower, but easier to carry (flat slide easy in pocket) so it will be carried when speed loader might be left behind. They work, and can top off a few rounds if you only fire a couple not the whole cylinder. Has flexibility and its faster then single loading and less likely to misplace or lose rounds

Many new owners are finding out that the blued finish comes off easily. The new S&W blue is not hot blued. Don’t use a metal polish like Flitz.

J0sh92 thank you for the comment! We’ve got more videos on the way. We have talked about getting a model 69 4 inch. So it’s good to know there is some interest in the revolver. If we were to buy one it would basically be a dedicated .44 Special revolver. We recently shot 8 cylinders worth of .44 Magnum SIG V-Crown self defense ammunition through our model 629 classic 5 inch .44 Magnum Revolver. We discovered the 629 was unpleasant to shoot compared to my Magnum Research BFR .44 Magnum Single Action revolver. So, I don’t know if we will buy a Model 69.... If we do, we will make sure to produce a video on it. - YB

I have a 19-4 with for certain 250k rounds through it. Not a single magnum(don't need the recoil, loss of accuracy or triple the expense) and still shoots like the day my father built it at the S&W armorers school in 1975 or so...Great pistols and will last forever so long as you take care of them. Shoot .38's and you'll enjoy it MUCH more...

Enjoying your model 19 and 66 4" barrel revolver videos. While a L frame will get an extra round, these k frames with their half under lug look better to me. Going to have get one myself.

Back in the late 70’s I was looking buy the Model 19 but I stumbled upon the Dan Wesson 15-2 which I have to this day always wanted to eventually buy one but by the time I saved up, I was into semiautomatics. Classic wheel gun.

I took a 15-2 off a guy in 90% condition about 10 years ago for $250.00. He'd bought it new right outside of Chicago in 1982. What a beast.

I love how on a revolver versus a semiauto you get the full length of the barrel for the bullet to travel thru. On the semiauto the chamber takes up some of the barrel length. Great review and a beautiful S&W.

What is it with great all around handguns being called the model 19? If I could only have 2 hanguns, the S&W 19 and Glock 19 would cover pretty much all bases. Lifhtweight polymer for edc, .357 power for carry in the woods, plus, you need a pretty revolver for a BBQ gun. Except for deep concealment, I’d want a S&W shield or J frame for that. Also, I love those grips.

As much as I love the 586/686 models, the classic 19/66 have such an elegance to them. Since you guys are reviewing lots of revolvers, I am kind of hoping you would get your hands on a Manurhin MR73 Gendarmerie and get your impressions of it. But I understand that, in the US, they are extremely expensive (not that they are cheap in Europe to start with).

jc6621 I hope we can convince 100 Subs or so to give them a try. So much fun with these 357 Magnum Revolvers. The 44 Magnums are more of a handful for sure, but the 357’s are a bit easier to lean and love. IMO Beretta Sr.

Wayne Meyer that is the major difference between the two revolvers, one other thing that is different is the Model 66 will come with a rubber grip and the model 19 comes with a set of wood grips. At the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference. I own both revolvers and I consider my model 66 to be more of a user revolver. I use the model 66 in a self defense role whereas the model 19 I have stored in my safe in a gun sock... - YB

Have you put .38+p through the 19 for recoil comparison? Thoughts? It would make for a nice comparison review imo. By the way, you are touting both the model 19 as well as the model 586 and yet in a separate review you are not recommending the model 586. 🤔

that 357 ain't no joke , i remember when our local law officers carried 357 my dad included backed with his chief special , i think they should bring it back , the fast 9mm is sufficiante i guess , i just like heavy knock down power houses like the 40 S&W , 45 acp ,357 mag, 44 mag if you're a big enough boy lol , how do ya'll afford all that high dollar ammo ?

Nice. Its beautiful. Too bad it has the Hillary hole. Smith and Wesson would sell more if they got rid of that pointless feature. In addition and Unlike the older version this newer 19 uses mim parts, and the firing pin is on the frame, the locking mechanism on the crane for the cylinder changed too. Next time try using HKS speedloaders.

A little wax from a wood repair kit could fix the gap in the stock grips. I would try that first.

Does the S&W-19 use K-frame or L-frame sized speed loaders? The cylinder looks larger than my S&W-10 cylinder. The 10 is a K frame. Definitely smaller than my S&W-586, an L frame.

The kid has turned into quite the shooter. He’s real comfortable behind the trigger. Very nice gun. I have a 1974 vintage 19. Is there any truth to the rumor of that key hole lock engaging while shooting?
