Just wondering, do you have to be selecting the params that the csv changes for it to go through? Because for 2 different mods I get an error that says "CSV has wrong number of values" which could just mean that I missed something important, but I'm not sure.
Yeh it seems you do have to be selecting/highlighting the correct Param you are importing data for. Otherwise ye, you'll get that Error Popup "CSV has wrong number of values." Good catch on that. For older versions of CSV from previous Regulation.Bins, it might do the same or will work but not change numbers for DLC related values.
@@Ryvariss Pretty sure you're correct, It's a bit unfortunate for people like me who has no clue what they're doing lmao, but at least you figured it out.
@@Ryvariss hey bro can you help me out whit something, i downpatched the game and using dsmapstudio, i changed the params on faithfull talisman changed it to get fp regen like you have on crimson talisman, after that saved the params and hot reload but it doesnt work.
@@severjanoeskolinaCan't really help you there because I've never down patch any game in my life lol. But just a hail mary, after saving the Param, did you overwrite the regulation.bin in the Game folder with the modded one
WOW. Smithbox was confusing for me coming from using Yapped in the past. I was confused with other tutorials. You made it easy to understand. Thank You
@@severjanoeskolina Yo? I saw it for a second and it disappeared when I came back later lol. Leave a comment not in a reply of another person cause it doesn't count this as an "Unread" comment.
Same here. I spent like a day trying to figure out what was happening in Smithbox regarding param editing, and this guide helped me figure it out pretty quickly. I'm mad it was so simple, honestly.
He did not only made it easy to understand as he also used the "chapters thing", man. That was god sent. Thank you so much for making this video, @Ryvariss. I went straight to the part I needed.
how do you get the name for the items to show up? (4:28) it just shows the id for me. edit: figured it out, you need to check off "import row names" on the right side lmao
Thank you alot for the nice clean Tutorial! Since Yapped-Rune-Bear aint working its the only option now for customizing the regulation.bin file , at least the UI from Smithbox looks very similar should be to hard to learn :))
Yo, when I typed mimic tear there no names in param editor. How did you name it? 😅 I only have numbers a lot numbers and don’t know which one right and wrong. 😢
When i open the normal smithbox it says gbu not supported But when I open the low requirement it says ( Unable to load DLL 'cimgui' or one of its dependencies: The specified module could not be found. (0x8007007E) ) Is there a solution for this?
I've heard that I know how to use Mod Engine 2, but I haven't seen anyone who uses it for UXM as well. In my case, Mod Engine 2 gives me problems, so I use UXM.
i dont seem to have the names showing up, i tried searching up crimson fro the talisman and nothing showed up since its just numbers.\ Its only in Param editor the other sections have names assigned to the numbers.
Gonna leave this up in case anyone else makes the same mistake as me, but i forgot to click import row names when creating the project so certain items only have numbers assigned to them, to fix this i had to create a new project and select row names.
This has been quite helpful on how to get started! Was wondering how I would open a regulation.bin modded file and then merge 2 SPEffectParam.csv files into that lol
The only way I would see doing that is manually adjusting what the other mod did. It'd be a pain depending on how big the mods are, but I've got no other idea currently lol
Hey i just found out about smithbox and i have been wondering if i could get into modding for elden ring because there are so many minor things id love to change, so i hope its okay if i ask a few questions here: Could i make deathblight applicable to all enemies and give it a special effect such as "Deathblight proc decreases buildup immunity to all attuntments by 40% and takes away 10% of the enemies max HP". I would be planning to do the same for sleep and madness. Could i give enemies/bosses attuntment buildups? Like, make fortissax give you deathblight buildup with his bite attacks as an example. I am fairly certain this is possible but i wanna ask to be 100% sure so: Could i give stuff like the rancor spells frost buildup? Or the royal greatsword and other weapons/spells? Can i add my own unique attacks and movesets to bosses? I know this one would be extremely complicated but i'd give it a try, i already know how to animate so i feel like it would be a good chance to improve my skills on that too. This is all i can remember wondering right now, sorry if i'm a burden, i am less than a beginner when it comes to modding but i would really really like to make my own mods 😅
Ayo I don't mean to say all that was wasted but all that sounds more complicated for me to even try and begin to figure out lol. Also I stopped modding ER a bit ago now rip. However, the animations I think are either using a separate software or fully unpacking the game files into Smithbox with UXM like it was with DsMapstudio. I know for sure all that is possible because I've seen modders do it. You'll just to have ask them how or find another video sorry mayne.
Thank you for the video, it was helpful as a reference... Does anyone know the line that belongs to "Flask of Wondrous Physick"? I can't find it on the internet and suspect the line doesn't have a name because the search engine can't find it. Does anyone know where it is?
If you mean to edit the effects of the "Tears" in the Wondrous Physick, I would assume the Tears would also be in SpEffect Param. But I would say to just edit a talisman with the effect you want so you don't have to drink the Physick everytime lol.
Hi, how can I open a regulation.bin of one mod? It opens my project but I want to work from this mod, can't find the way to open it's regulation.bin file
In reply to another already • 5 days ago "... Just like DSmap, Smithbox seems to only open the regulation.bin that is next to the game executable (eldenring.exe). It's not like Yapp where you could open any regulation.bin from any folder."
You can try this guy's video and see if it's still stable ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jHU2ei_qY2c.html But last time I tried it during DSMapstudio was in 2022 and it wasn't working properly anymore. Good luck, yo.
Tried today modding some values of other Talisman's but when I try to save the project "Failed to save file: Value cannot be null. (Parameter 'path') - at System.ArgumentNullException(...) etc. any idea why this happens? Edit: seems like program is still in BETA but yeah got it to work now...
It always gives me the error "Unable to find Network path \\.smithbox\ER\selections". Anyone know how to fix it? Didnt find anything on how to fix it or get the said path, just another guy on reddit having the same problem with no fix to it. Any help would be much appreciated.
Walk me through up the steps you did to get that error to happen. Network error is weird cause I would think a Network error should have ever showed up lol
Nah magic is for nurds.. On a real note, I never messed with magic params nor care to look up how, sorry lol. But, if by improving you mean just increasing their damage/defense output. Then I'm sure somewhere in _SpEffectParam_ they should be in there and you can edit the values.
As you said, when I go to the param editor section and click on the SpEffectParam section, I see numbers instead of names. It doesn't say anything like Crimson Medallion, there are just numbers and numbers.
So I used Smithbox Version 1.0.12.1. Made new project, loaded the names. Switched to current Smithbox Version 1.0.15.1, opened the same project and it still shows the name. Tested on Crimson Amber Medallion again and it worked fine.
In reference to 7 Days to Die, modifying the values even while it's at the menu will cause an error on loading a game. So I never have the game running if I'm modding it.
no idea where else to ask this lol, so asking here because it's kinda related how can i edit the weapon trail for the uchigatana for when it's buffed with fire with flaming strike? i want it to have the normal trail when it is not buffed, but a different trail when it is (ghostflame effect for example)
Unfortunately, this also isn't a good place either, rip. But I would assume switching a visual effect is more than just editing values lol. Probably done in some sort of Model Editor *edited --- This might be what you're looking for if you haven't found it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E_iY2efZLmU.html
Can you tell me how I can edit NPCs, eg: Sellen, so that they haven't equipped their helmets? i know a number of mods already exist for that, but as it's part of the regulation i'd like to be able to do it whenever the game updates. I can't seem to find the place to edit the equipment.
Nah I never messed around with NPC. I don't care about their looks because I do the quest once and every subsequential playthrough I never do em again lol. You can ask the Mod author which CSV and Line was edited to export it and save it for future updates.
in Reply to another already • 4 days ago (edited) "... Again, I never had to do anything with UXM. I know of it, but never tried anything with it cause I think it was only for merging Mods together."
It is weird isn't it lol. I noticed back on Yapp, the Blessed Dew Talisman was -2 in "Current HP +" and was wondering the same thing. I'd assume it's just how their coding is setup or maybe that's just how it's always been.
This was very helpful, thanks! Btw, for some reason, altered values don't appear in green after I open smithbox again. Do you know how I can make it always display altered values in green?
@@terotoussaint7554 Nah, I tried everything I could find to make it appear green again too lol. I guess it's only Green for the current session edits unfortunately.
I may have found something in SpEffectParam, if you look up the spirit summon. You can change the "Damage %" and "Attack %." But I'll have to check back later if it actually works cause Elden Ring was just updated so nothings working for me lol.
Hey there, firt of all thanks for the tuto ! Only one question : we only have to launch the game in offline mod to not get baned ? Is it not necessary to launch the game with a specific launcher (offline launcher on Nexus Mod for example ?)
No clue, I always run it offline if I'm modding. Especially since if you changed values and/or added other mods, it'll always say illegal activities or whatever on title if you're online Steam. I used Anti-Cheat toggler before but I heard people are crashing when the DLC dropped. So do what you will with that info lol.
If you check the Blessed Dew Talisman (350200) in SpEffect. You'll see "Current HP + (changeHpPoint) is -2." I ain't a coding man at all so it makes no sense to me either lol. Probably some bs --- Health Missing(Negative) x -2 Health p/s(Negative) = Positive Healing
Just like I did in the video, SpEffectParam -- Search Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot or ID: 3971 -- Look right, and find Duration (effectEndurance), default: 180.00 -- Change 180.00 to whatever number you want in _seconds_, ie.900.00
I think you could also just change the Rune Gain value in any Talisman. Just so you don't have to consume a pickled foot if you rest at a bonfire. Find the talisman ID or Name and search in Fields: "Rune Gain %" and change it from "1.00" -- "1.30" for 30% bonus always on when said talisman is equipped. Give it a shot, hope it works.
Unfortunately I just started doing this and have two mods requiring a merge, one is a regulation file and the other is a csv, looks like smithbox current version either removed or moved the data/import/export tab, talk about a pain in the ass.
Uhh..? I just downloaded the latest ver. 1.0.17.1 and in the "Data" tab top left, there's still Export/Import CSV lol. You can merge Params now which is pretty neat actually dayum.
I don't know yo. I never got "nothing" happened before and I can't recreate what your saying lol. I made new projects and importing is working fine for me still.
Smithbox is not creating regulation.bin in my project folder 4:03. I only have .smithbox and project.json. Maybe it's because I didn't unpack the game using UXM?
Again, I never had to do anything with UXM. I know of it, but never tried anything with it cause I think it was only for merging Mods together. Back to the main point of no regulation.bin, I just tested on version Smithbox 1.0.17.1. I had a little hiccup and the file loaded incorrectly and nothing happened, got error codes missing "Lines." I thought I was in the same boat as you for a second rip. But I made another project, called it "Test 8-7 Regulationbin not appearing," directed it towards the same folder that was empty, and it worked normally. /.smithbox "Folder" & project.json & regulation.bin / I don't know what happened the first time but it loaded normally with Row Names and everything again lol.
Unless the mods come with CSV file versions too, you'd have to figure out what CSV files(Params) were edited between the two. If they both change the same CSV, then it becomes a hassle.
I've spent a whole night looking for it in Yapp during Year 1 Elden Ring. Unfortunately I gave up on looking for it because I don't think it was ever a Param lol. But there is an Elden Ring practice tool that allows game speed change or teleport to any Grace. *edit. There is a mod that increases his speed, and it seems customizable. www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/3022
Hello, I was wondering how I could edit/remove the ui elements in the game. I want to make it so that I only have bosses and monsters health bars on my screen and nothing else. I want to watch them fight eachother liket that.
@@Yokai9020 When you're in the Param Editor, top left. Under it you'll see "Param" and then "Param Version." Mine is version (1.12.4.0023). If it's not that and red, then your regulation.bin in the "Game" folder is outdated. Verify Integrity of the game in Steam, make a new Project in Smithbox and check the Param version again. Hopefully it helps a little.
Ive been trying to download the "Performance booster" and whenever i try to import the "LoadBalancerDrawDistScaleParam.csv" into it's respective param, it just states "CSV file has wrong number of values" is the mod outdated or am i stupid?
I have been having internet issues all day lol, turns out the ethernet cord was dying out. But to answer yer question. That error is usually when you're not highlighting the specific Param before importing the CSV. Also make sure at the top left you'll see "Param Editor" _under_ "Params" _under_ Param Version 1.12.4.0023, and it's not in red text. If it isn't right, verify the integrity through Steam, make a new project in Smithbox and check it again before importing. Hope that helps if you haven't found a solution yet.
I see now in Shadow Folder right? Still make sure what I said before is true. But you need to be highlighting "LoadBalancerNewDrawDistScaleParam_win64" ----- key difference in those names are "New" and "_win64" for the Param you're looking for. I was having trouble for a second too lol.
Lies of Mid is what it is. Real talk though, I have no clue. I'm pretty sure Smithbox will strictly be for Fromsofts Souls only lol, but who knows what'll happen.
Possibly yo. Yapp suddenly worked a few weeks before the DLC released and then of course died again. Then this Smithbox just suddenly appeared out of no where lol
Hi mate, I'm working on a DLC patch for a mod for the original author and I'm not sure if he still has the CSV files, and they weren't in the original mod download either. What are my options here?
Depends on what that mod even does. From what you said so far, I don't know what the mod does, which then means I don't know the Params he edited, and I wasn't given any CSV files for reference. I uhh would considered myself lost, mainly because I don't know what mod you're talking about
@@Ryvariss the mod I'm working on is the Better and New Spirit Ashes mod, which was pretty similar to the one you described in the CSV importing section except it also added new Spirit Ashes, some new spells, and made changes to a lot of the vanilla ashes. Basically, a lot was changed lol. I'm looking and I've found a way to export the CSV's from the parameters in the mod's regulation.bin and I'm thinking maybe I can import those CSV's into the new regulation.bin?
So when I edited Spirit ashes and summoned 5 bosses as my allies lol. That's was like I wanna say 4 diffent Params. But the last time I exported CSV was using Yapp, cause that just opens any regulation.bin regardless of folder location. I think with Smithbox you'd only be able to export from whatever regulation.bin is in "Game" folder.
@@Ryvariss I fixed the issue for the most part. But now I have to add all of the DLC locations to the buddy params as well, so that the ashes can be summoned in those areas as well. Any advice on how to do this?
@@TheKillamanJoe Nah I have no clue. I don't do much modding aside from Talismans now. The closest I did to adding "New" spirit ashes was just changing Jellyfish spirit to summon Malenia, Godfrey, Hoarah Loux, and Maliketh. Never had to add specific locations for them to be "Legal?" in other areas lol
I might've found it. For example, I went to "SpEffectParam," typed Roar in the Search and found "[Weapon] Roar - Damage Buff." You'll see something called "Duration (effectEndurance)" and it says 30, which I'm assuming is seconds. Hope that's what it is. **Edited** Literal seconds after. I switched Seppaku duration to 5 seconds and it ended so quick. My weapon glowed for actually a second after, that's actually hilarious lol
I downloaded all of the requirements and then smithbox. When I opened it, everything was in what seemed to be Chinese. Nexus and Github. Any suggestions?
Sorry can't help there, that's uhh quite something huh lol. I did see someone mention that too in Nexus, unless that was you. But if not, then there was possibly a hiccup in most recent version.

Launch Smithbox, there should be two tabs Left one should have two buttons stacked at the bottom, and right tab should have one button bottom left. Stay on the right tab, in the first row, Name it "Wtf", the next two rows will have a "Directory" icon at the end of the row to click on. So the 2nd row is Directory, where your Project is being saved, click on the icon in 2nd row and select an empty new folder to save to.
