Good stuff! I used aluminum tubing, pvc connectors with epoxy and made a detachable frame to be held onto the lower ski section with pipe legs and bungee cords. All that to keep the total weight as far down as possible. I used an old pair of downhill skis to help spread the weight a little better. I also used a heat gun and added some much needed wax to the runners. I keep the skis so that the only time they are touching anything is snow.
We've had ice for a few weeks now. I'm just finishing up the bungee thingy, then all set. Been fishing a few times already. Good luck, hope you ice up soon.
Hey Farm Girl. I totally stole your ideas of the Smitty sled. Love the turnbuckles for holding the Otter sled to the Smitty sled. I also put a coat of hot wax on the skis. I painted the wood black to match the sled. Thanks
I've seen all sorts of smitty sled builds over the years & your addition of turnbuckles really got me thinking, motivating me to build one myself - great stuff & love your channel
Thx for stopping by... I took it out this weekend for its second adventure and it was pulled by ATV's and pulled fine... you will see it in my next video which I hope to release this week! Hope to see you on the ice sometime!l
It pulls so much easier... I was out last weekend and did not have it on my sled..it was sooo much harder to pull... I am putting it back on for this weekend! You should find some one who has one and ask to pull it it... you will see! Thx for watching.... be safe out there!
Great project and build nice job! turnbuckles were a good idea looks really cool as well! just to let you know we had to rejoin your channel to turn on notifications fixed now and cheers again from Australia
