Your video popped up in my feed, so I thought I'd stop by! I love supporting other outdoor RU-vid creators. Tou got my sub! Loved this build. You did a good job explaining and walking us through the steps.
Yeah. It came down to me not wanting to destroy my first pair of K2 skis from 1998 for a few reasons. Sentimental and they're too long to fit in the bed of my truck. These "newer" K2 skis, I still want to use. I got them around 2005 or thereabouts. I still wanted to keep using them on the rare times we go to the slopes. I've been looking for a pair of junker-skis for a few years now and never came up with any worth throwing $30-$100 at. I think I would love to have some skis that are this short that only cost $20, but you just can't find them in North Dakota.
Thanks man. Yeah, I'm really glad I made it work. The bonus is just not having to destroy my skis. The other bonus is I think I like the horizontal piece for electronics and rod holders. I can't wait to really get a good day to use it again. For now...letting the minnow bucket thaw out! Ha, ha, ha.
So good to know it isn’t a complete waste of my time! So you’re saying I’ve got a chance? Ha, ha! Are you digging out of snowdrifts over there? You in MN? What’s the day in the life these days? Thanks for dropping a comment, Brett!
Wow...pretty neat. You must be way younger than me. I had a pair of K2 255 Mids. Turned them into the Airman's Attic on base when I no longer should be downhill skiing. Why you say? Being 50 something years old and my wife telling me...STOP meant goodbye ski's. However, now I wish I kept them. Such a cool setup.
Ha, ha. I have a pair of K2s I got in 1993, too, but I just may have too much sentimental in me to destroy them, too. Plus, they are 198 or something and I can actually ski with them better than these newer Apache's. The longer pair I have wouldn't fit as nicely in the back end of my F-150 either. I only have stopped skiing as frequently as I did because prices for the hills and mountain passes are just so much more ridiculous than they were when I went many, many weekends from November 1 until August 1 at Whistler/Blackcomb mountain for $30 US in 1998. Since moving back to ND, I guess I haven't hit the slopes as much because it's a 2 hour drive and $44 for essentially one giant bunny hill. At least at Whistler AND Blackcomb mountains, it was 7-mile runs and high speed gondolas. I just hit a ripe old age this year, so I'm not far behind you if you're in your 50's. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day!
I was over 50 nineteen years ago. I bought the skis back in the 70's at Berchtesgaden, Germany. Skied all the time in Austria and Italy. Oh to be young again. I can imagine the crazy lift ticket prices now a days. Thanks for responding. Heading to Lake of Woods first week of Feb. Hopefully good ice.@@rippinglipsadventures
Sounds to me like you're just as young in your mind as you were in your 20's. You don't have far to go to be young again. Ha! At least that's how I still feel. I'm in my 20's. But I'm not. Good luck out there on one of the most epic lakes in the world.@@mikeyc1928
Not so much in flat-earth territory. But I tried for a few years at local thrift stores and pawn shops, too. So I went the route of being able to use my skis for all kinds of fun. Ha, ha. Thanks for swinging into the comment section. I agree, with you. It normally should be a thing.
