Weirauch have always produced great guns. I remember back in 86-87 when the HW77 was gun of the year for several years running. Definitely worth spending that bit more just for reliability and accuracy
Steve Taylor agreed 100 percent, I had a 77 lined up to buy with a tbt tuning kit fitted and hummed and hard and missed out it was 300 quid but think I’m gonna ask the misses for a 97 for Christmas with the laminate stock , your assured quality and accuracy, without a doubt , whilst the Chinese stuff is getting better , it still ain’t there yet ,,,cheers buddy you take care and thanks for the comment Shane
Odd I've had three xs38 absolutely deadly accurate, all liked different pellets. Are sure that scope don't adjust why's it got a locking ring for, the whole back end rotates . I've never seen a zoom scope that you can't focus.
It was a bad gun buddy , I tried a few scopes on it , the problem was inconsistent power , it was down to 7 ft lbs when I took it back to the shop , the guy said they’d had a few back from that batch , I got a refund and bought a divers bottle but I did like the gun , nice stock and was built like a tank , cheers Shane
First shot was out but following three went in nice then the fourth was well out, you sure your gun likes them pellets or if you’ve got a clog in the milking of the barrel? That is a bit random. I’d probably try with different pellets and do some research on what works best with it good vid and the bottom left was pretty crap too. You’ll figure it if you stick at it. Good vid 👍🏼
I watched this video a few times. I have this gun and I shoot pellet on pellet more often than not. My suggestion would be that you go to the gun club and establish a rock solid shooting platform and see how that works. I would also have an expert shooter try the gun for a while before I write it off as no good. Your shooting platform at home is so very wobbly I wouldn't trust it. And it is probably the rifling lands that are digging into your pellet face which is normal with a little larger pellet. A tight fit should work fine. Keep shooting the gun and I think you'll be surprised at the accuracy you'll get with a really solid shooting platform.
It went back to the shop a couple of wks after this video , it had lost power and was down to 8.5 ft lbs , from 11 in around 250 shots , shame it was a solid gun , but guess there was burs etc inside the piston sleeve or something , apparently guy at the gun shop said they had had loads returned and wasn’t surprised, I had a brand new divers bottle instead of having my money back , cheers shane , ps , same platform for the following shots with the 99 s cheers shane 😊
Ive just ordered one of these rifles in .22, cant wait to get my hands on but does anyone know of a cheap but solid scope for this rifle, ive been shooting rifles on and off for decades here and there but nothing serious so im still a novice and need advice on a springer scope as ive heard horror stories about folk spending good money on a scope for the springer to break it so im cautious and in need of some help from you veterans! ✌🏻💙
Even with dodgy pellets most guns will give a reasonable group at 15 yards Shane. I reckon you have inconsistent power from the gun. Try say 10 shots through a chrono, I bet there's a big variation. There may be a reason it was the only one left in the shop..... When you found the answer and shot that last card bottom left group, I sat up waiting for your new idea, I didn't guess it was a different gun..!!... Accuracy usually suffers in a barrel directly after cleaning it, you need to re-lead the barrel in with a particular pellet to see any gains. Maybe 20 shots, maybe half a tin.....👍
Strange how inconsistent the first gun was, almost as if there were loose screws in the stock or something but I bet your glad you now have a weihrauch?
Love the videos. I'm about to get my first rifle. Weihrauch 99s a lot better than one of these for my tight budget? The 99s video I saw looked great but you wanted to sell it on cos unhappy with it?
sorry for the late reply JW ,, no 99 was a great gun cant fault them but had set my heart on a HW 97 so sold a few bits and bobs to raise the money, not moaning as im alive but since my heart attack 3 yrs ago i only work 20 hrs a wk and my finances are quite tight ,,,take care matey Shane
