Also, finding the lost CCC trail above the Old Settlers Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is a hike in the North end of the Park and should only be done by experienced hikers who know that area of the Park. Hike Off-Trail at your own risk. Video by: Mike Maples

I have relatives burried at the Cade's cove church grave yard. They had to leave when it was made into a park but we're still allowed to be laid to rest in the cemetery. Thank you for the video. Nicely done.Very knowledgeable.

There was a bent tree at 6:03 that could be a native American trail marker. There are many around but most people don't know that was their purpose. Very cool, thanks for sharing!

I've read that some of the tallest trees are along the Boogerman Trail, which follows the old road connecting Big Cataloochee with the old Caldwell Forks settlements. Interesting story about why.

Interesting video. Good job with the before after pics of the cabin I wonder how you found them. I really like that you took the time to not only map out your adventer but to make it sharable and give the details you did for others as well. I have family far east in tennessee (Carter county area) I was curious if you had any information on anything interesting. I've been doing research on the area and I guess I figured you might know a thing or two... thank you and my best wishes.

what are the odds of seeing a bear while hiking there?

Usually they will hear you coming from a mile away and smell you from two miles away and be gone before you get to where they were

Your odds vary depending on what part of the park you hike in. In many areas there aren’t any to be found, and my guess is there isn’t enough berries and other food they like, so they have no interest in staying there. They are hungry pretty much 24/7. In other areas you’ll encounter several bears within a few miles provided that you’re hiking solo and not making a lot of noise talking. In my experience they might smell you, but if they don’t hear you they will not run off. If you’re being loud you’ll probably only encounter the dumps they take.
