That Hickory looks like it will make some nice straight lumber. Do you mill Hickory while it's still wet??

@@timscartoys9321 Tim, I've never milled hickory. I'm hoping to catch up at my snail pace with some jobs I have. Next week I'm hoping to try it. I bet it will get even harder dry. I wish I knew. Have a great weekend my friend.

You got your work cut out for you now with those 9 hickory logs. My experience is mill them green paying attention to the way the log tension runs. Then sticker them and put the equivalent of the national debt on it for weight and pray that'll be enough to hold them straight. Mine also want to split bad. Treat the ends with your favorite sealer. Once they dry you will have to drill pilot holes or you'll never get a in them. Just my two cents worth. Thank goodness for inflation, now what I think is worth something. Although the wife says my thoughts are worth more as fertilizer than any practical value to anyone.

Worth more as fertilizer 🤣. Jim, I've never milled hickory and I have no idea how it will react. I'm hoping the tension isn't too bad due to the fact that was on a flat ground and they've only been exposed in this opening for a few years. So hopefully the sun didn't cause him to go in One direction. What do you think about inch and a half or 2-in slabs? I have no idea what to do with it. I'm just helping my buddy take these trees down and he's giving me the wood. I will definitely get on these and seal them up. They don't sound fun to work with. I've heard this from more than one person LOL. Thanks for your input and the recommendations. Have a great weekend Jim.

Nice tree felling Jerry, right on the money. Those are nice looking Hickory logs. I milled a Hickory for a customer and wow are they hard. Even with a new blade it was slow going. We had some cool days and it heated back up. Today is supposed to be our last warm day for the foreseeable forecast. Have great weekend

6201 2rs are the bearings I'm using. I buy them on Amazon. I just checked. They have them.
