Smosh's content has been on a steady decline since early 2014. They used to have so much personality in their videos, but now it feels like a large company has swooped them up and is trying to ring as much cash out of them as possible

It’s so funny revisiting this as a new Smosh fan knowing what I know now. Like, Anthony and Ian really had no freedom to make something decent for this project and knew from the get go that it sucked ass. Really makes you look at ALL of their dark age content differently, the movie was just a culmination of every bad decision DEFY made with Smosh’s Channel. I really like the improvised content on the channel. It’s not always funny, but even when it’s cringe it’s a lot more endearing than it used to be. And when the jokes hit they really hit. Bless Shane, Courtney, and everyone who made that channel what it is now, and hopefully the skits they are releasing this week are actually good

Smosh lost its soul when it gained production values and RU-vid became a massive corporation. Smosh was always about two idiots fucking around with a cheap camcorder. The style of humour doesn't really translate when you're basically on small-scale TV budget.

Yeah, I remember Ian being the better actor in their old videos. His timing and humor was always really good, I think if given the chance he could be a funny comedian.

They fight the hydra, and it isn't in the sea of monsters. Also, for some reason, THEY ARE NOT IN FLORIDA AND CLARISSE DOES NOT BOMB THE HYDRA. He doesn't fight ares, and WHEN IN THE BOOK DOES HE FIGHT LUKE? THE ONLY THING THESE IDIOTS KNOW IS THAT THERE ARE THREE CHARACTERS. Why is hades evil? WHY DOES HE WANT THE BOLT? HE DOESN'T. *HE WANTS HIS HELMET*. And they leave the best scenes out. The animals, tunnel of love, he doesn't destroy a bus, the three fates never appear, PERCY'S MOM GETS RELEASED FROM THE UNDERWORLD, she doesn't come back with a pearl. And worst of all, GROVER NEVER SWALLOWS A HACKEY SACK APPLE WHOLE.

I actually just rewatched most of the 2009-2014 videos from Smosh, and they still made me laugh my ass off years later. 2019 Smosh hasn’t made me laugh once, and the movie is in this category.

Movie was exactly what I thought it would be.... a 90 minute Smosh sketch. Terrible idea for a feature film (good job DEFY), but it is what it is.

Very small bit of constructive criticism. At the very end when you show the list of movies from best to worst, it's sort of hard to see the new movie. The "NEW" text can easily blend in with a movie cover. It might be more helpful if you have the text under or above the movie with the arrow pointing to it as to make it easier to find.

I used to like Smosh, then I turned 16.

I remember that the night when I watched this for the first (and only) time, I had to wake up at 4am because my family were going on holiday and we had a 14 hour trip, so instead of getting what little sleep I could, I watched SMOSH THE MOVIE! I was confused and docile, I wasn’t bored, happy or sad, I just sat there until it ended and then I forgot about it.

About a year ago, I rediscovered smosh, which I remembered from my childhood, and loved their videos for a quick laugh. One day I was on Netflix and found it and was like "wtf this is dogshit"

It's not even a rip-off of Tron, it's a rip-off of South Park doing a rip-off of Tron, where Stan needs to go inside of Facebook to delete his profile.

Okay what about this: What if they made a HowToBasic movie. How it would go is a really in-depth mystery/romance movie from a first person perspective in which the protagonist never speaks except for occasional grunts or sighs. After about 7/8 of the movie has passed and the viewer is incredibly invested in the plot, the screaming and eggs begin. After the chaos and the thumbs up, the screen fades to black and "A HowToBasic Movie" appears in white cursive. Cue credits. Oh, it would have to not be advertised as a HowToBasic movie, obviously.

I hate myself for liking this movie when I first watched it

I remember I scrapped an idea for an Animated short about a girl who joined the RU-vid community and went on quest to find her channel. She went through tons of different communities and met many different youtubers, IHE was gonna be one of them in the “Visual Council” (Movie reviewers). I scrapped it because I didn’t know how to design the RU-vid worlds and I just felt kind of insecure about making it because I thought everyone was gonna say it was dumb and bad so I just forgot it. It was gonna be 2D animated and people spoke with comic texts. No one would have voiced lines though there would be sound affects.

When I was 8 I watched Smosh and I loved it. Now I'm 16 and I couldn't watch it if you paid me. I will give them credit for entertaining me back then though. I spend many hours crying with laughter at their skits and I'm very Great full for it. I'm sure their current content would entertain 8 year old me just as much as their old stuff, the content hasn't changed, we have.

I used to be a BIG smosh fan back in 2011-2013 (I was around 10 when I started watching them) and I found them fucking hilarious, they were my favourite RU-vidrs AND EVEN AS THAT BIG OF A FAN I was disappointed by the film. I was waiting to see the loud, crazy, random content they produced because that's why I liked their videos BECAUSE I WAS FUCKING 12 (literally); is incredible how they managed to disappoint the audience they were catering at which was a CLEAR demographic, even if it was a bad movie they could have managed to make it enjoyable for the fans back then by just making that formula and (honestly) charm of Ian and Anthony long form.

JUST A REMINDER AND UPDATE: the reason why this movie exist wasnt because of Ian and Anthony. They were not in charge of smosh at the time. They (stupidly) sold smosh to some company and that company decided make a movie just to capitalise on a trend and expand the brand to benifit their back pocket. thats why the movie sucks. Ian and Anthoney had no creative input, it was all corporate. they were just employees of a brand that they made and where the face of.

I used to really like Smosh when I was ten, and now watching one of my favourite content creators critique one of the content creators that inspired me to get a RU-vid channel in the first place is pretty cool

I used to enjoy their videos until I think 2016 when Smosh became more of a company and Anthony left. I still like to watch their old Food Battle videos for nostalgia :-)
