Smudger and the Magic Mirror 

Misty Island Origins This story starts with a kid who gets bullied at school for his mechanical genius and neglected at home because his parents are alcoholics. But one day after a very bad day at school, he would run away after his parents started abusing him, so that night when they started using drugs and drinking even more. He packs a bag of clothes, a pocket knife, a flashlight with some extra batteries and some food. He sneaks outside through his window and walks to the garden shed his parents never use gets out a rough looking bike he's been hiding from his parents so they wouldn’t sell it for more money to get more booze and now drugs. He got on and rode all night until he found a long-forgotten railroad that was very overgrown. He decides to take a ride down the old line and see what he can find and to his surprise he finds an old ghost town and a very old shed with an old but decently conditioned locomotive that was asleep. He climbed into the cab and would fall asleep and when he woke up, he heard the locomotive singing an old mining song. So he climbed out of the cab and slowly walked up to the front of the engine while listening to the song until the engine finished the song and said hello. The boy said hello back and they started talking until the old engine asked what the boy's name was. They said his name is Burdett (no last name) and the engine said his name was Ferdinand, and he was left in the town after the lead and silver mines dried up and the logging mill caught fire due to faulty safety equipment. Burdett soon went to explore the abandoned town to look for supplies, and he soon stumbled upon the abandoned supply store and found an old radio and a three months' supply worth of batteries, food and some clothes in his size. After he got all the supplies he needed He walked back to Ferdinand and turned the radio on and tunes into the news station and they're talking about the NWR, and how they were in need of a logging goods locomotive and two logging shunting engines. Ferdinand asked Burdett to try and get him working again so they could try for a new life on sodor. So Burdett tried his absolute best to fix him up, but Ferdinand still needed a lot more work, and as night time fell across the woods the flashlight was dying and the radio played a soft and slow song that lulled Burdett and Ferdinand to sleep. Burdett worked on Ferdinand nonstop until he got him to finally steam. But Ferdinand could only move at 25 miles an hour because of the worn out state he was in, but he still was strong enough to climb up the steep hills and move some heavy loads blocking the tracks. They used every forgotten back wood's railroad track they could find for the next several days until one night after almost getting caught they were at a crossroads one said to the engine sheds and the other said to the dock yards. They decided to sleep in the sheds that night and where they soon found a massive surprise, two more old logging engines named Bashford and Dashmen. Who woke up when the doors creaked open loudly, and they saw the two back into the shed to rest and hide for the night. The two engines asked who they were to get to know their story before they told them that they were two of three experimental logging engines designed with steam powered gears to run logging equipment, and their sister gypsy was the prototype and was bought by another railroad because of it and they were just left there to rust and rust away. They then told them they dreamed of being saved and restored to full functioning order so they could be useful again. Burdett told them he would at least try to help in the morning but he needed to get some sleep first he started work once he woke up and by the time he was done it was evening and he only got their wheels able to move again. So, he used Ferdinand to shunt them together and was able to hook them up together and then Ferdinand coupled up after turning him around on the turntable and coupled up to them and he slowly pulled them out of the sheds and brought them down the line to the points and Burdett switched the points and brought them to the dock yards. Where they found an abandoned cargo ship and a functional crane, after Burdett inspected the gears and controls he used the crane to load the three engines onto the ship. Burdett tried starting the ship but to no avail he went to the engine room and worked on the boat engine for two hours and then finally started the engine and headed down river. They went undetected for three days until the river finally passed through a very popular tourist town. Everyone saw the rusty old cargo ship cruising down the river with a boy and three locomotives. They saw people taking pictures and even news reporters were there reporting the tourists and the new attractions, but when they heard of the current situation, they started reporting them instead. The police soon started chasing them until they saw Burdett's bullies and parents looking at him with anger and hate in their eyes once they saw him and his adventures and his discoveries. Once they yelled out his name he ran into the cargo ship's control room and slammed opened the throttle and set the engines at full speed and power. They fought against the raging river and once they reached the mouth of the river connecting to the ocean, they were Scott free until they soon hit the stormy seas. They were almost to sodor when they heard that the sodor logging industry had finally/already gotten their new logging engines. By then they were nearly too sodor but due to the sea’s current they soon found Misty Island instead. When they finally docked into port the locals there were kind and happy and even gave them all a home and a place to belong. But after a few weeks went by another terrible storm hit both Sodor and Misty Island, and only Burdett, the three engines and two other boys named John and Peter became Bash and Dash's new drivers. They had their fun until an engine came drifting into port and he said his name was Thomas soon found the only way off the island and got across the sea to sodor. modify where you need to, to make it fit.

The friendship between Duncan and Stanley is really sweet

I feel so bad for smudger. Not being re-guaged properly and being blamed for derailments is just so depressing :/

damn i was expecting this to be a cringe creepypasta, but actually watching this made me realise how well smudger/stanley was characterised. His relationship with duncan is well written, and the reveal of how duke slandered his name was quite the twist. Stellar work.

This series is taking some really interesting turns. The "forest series" is fast becoming my favourite fanmade ttte series.

I do have to say I never thought of smudger/Stanley this way and that post credit scene has me on the edge of my seat. Brilliant work and can’t wait for the next

Ive noticed one inaccuracy, Falcon, (later on Sir Handel), was around when Smudger/Stanley was still running, but in this, he was already a generator ehen both Stewart and Falcon arrived. But toher than that, nice work.

This was gentle, intense but gentle, this is possibly the best Thomas Film I’ve seen as of late, I would request a sequel, I want to find out when Duke finds Stanley’s identity

I really like how Smudger takes on Stanley's name due to Stanley being the first engine big engine he talks with who gives him encouragement, really sweet thing to do. Although I will say I was partly wondering if he was going to say "Ivo Hugh" considering how similar they look lol I'm honestly fascinated how this will all play out, I like that you keep bringning in some of the more obscure Thomas characters and giving them mysterious yet seemingly important roles within this saga. Tbat's not even mentioning the very well done blend of the RWS, TVS, TATMR _and_ CGI versions of the show, this is one of the few creepy Thomas fan creations that I take a genuine interest in because it's a saga that makes you as question, then answers some while simultaneously giving you another dozen to ponder. You have a very incredible way of writing stories and I'm all here for it.

I came here from watching The Missing 411 and now I’m invested. The fact you included a crossover between this and the Steven Universe series is both fascinating and really nice! Also, here’s a theory I have. Lady is satan. Gordon and Oliver have either been brainwashed or corrupted to be her slaves. The red lights, present in Henry’s Forest (which is canon to this series) are a lure of sorts, to bring in engines that Lady puppets. Toad, given the fact he isn’t a engine was killed, or heavily damaged. A company (or a foundation) is trying to find her and kill her. Given the fact that she’s satan, this will be extremely hard to do. Really looking forward to seeing the next part of this series!!!

I do like how this smudger is a combination of both engines that became a generator/pumping engine he’s got the name and green colour scheme of the one from the television series on the basis/backstory of being from America of Stanley

I am not a Steven Universe fan, but I will say that I am interested in where the story with Stanley and Lapis will go.

Wow, I thought that mirror was familiar, now knowing it was the one from steven universe lapis lazuli was in and she's friends with stanley/smudger. Now this series is getting interesting. I get the feeling this is why diesel 10 in this au wants to destroy lady and the buffers, this stop lady from taking others.

One thing i would love to see is lapis shapeshift into a "human" and be stanley's driver

okay, my only complaint about this is that some of the Narration is rather quiet, and some of the darker scenes are REALLY Dark, but aside from that, you did damn good on this :3

This is an interesting part in your series so far. Especially with Smudger/Stanley having a role (or spotlight) here. Although I think you could use some work. Like the voice acting could be a bit more louder here. Still this is an interesting and a good part here. Keep up the great work here.

So I have 2 things to what just happened after the credits 1: Gordon and Oliver ram from the shed and went to victorstown but the bridge was broken so they fell off and died with lady using there spirits to help her with god lows what And 2: a demon took Gordon and olivers spirits and put them under the suspicion bridge while lady saved them from what I assumed to be hell and in return they can help with whatever she’s doing and it’s god knows what

Just discovered this. I'm really interested in this series hope you continue

Or that high pitched whistling track that you hear when Gordon, Oliver and Lady come and abduct Toad? EDIT: Ah. There's a music list at the end of the video. Should have finished it before commenting lmao. A lot of it is by Kevin MacLeod, so I think I'll go peruse his music to see if there's anything from other TTTE fan stories that is there...

This is very interesting it feels like an alternate reality like it’s in a multiverse of some sorts. Doctor strange from the mcu would approve. And I’m down for it all. Keep it up can’t wait to see where this story goes next. Ps maybe you should put doctor strange in your Thomas au because it’s giving me doctor strange multiverse vibes lol. 😂

Something at first that I didn't like was Smudger being Stanley's class. But after seeing Duke's story, that old scrap colour shit made me believe in the wrong story! Ok I still don't like Smudger being Stanley, but atleast you made it work! But I don't like he mirror becoming what ever knock-off smurf was that! I heard she was from Steven Universe or something which doesn't remind me of any character from that but I haven't watched in years.

I enjoy the new episode and that tied in to (the missing 411) episodes. A I can’t wait of the episode with lapis.
