This walk brought back many happy memories for my wife Christine who remembers the coast walk from when she was a child and staying at Westcliff Old Court. ( The house that the path was rerouted through with the new fence). Thank you, your walks are very interesting to watch with your great enthusiasm.

But what a climb.... oh my....not for the faint-hearted. More like a mountain hike than a walk this time....but so lovely to see Polperro with the streets and beaches empty. Probably the quintessential Cornish fishing village is Polperro. No wonder we smuggled back in the day. My ancestors lived in the barns at Porthallow,Talland back in the 1800s,i'd imagine being that poor they would've participated in the free trade,must look into it.Maybe that house over the fence was Richard and Judy's as they live in Talland! Apparently the actor Stewart Granger was part brought up in the Crumplehorn,prefer the Blue Peter myself especially Christmas time,like being in a loft!
@CornishWalkingTrails
@CornishWalkingTrails 5 лет назад
Hi Andy, We rarely get up to Polperro, and we are trying out the pubs, one by one! The Blue Peter certainly has character in barrel loads! We can't find any link with our families and Cornish freetrade, although there are some good old yarns about other misdemeanors! Sarah :)

Hello again! It's that pesky 'cream first' Devonian again. It's a little late to comment on this vlog I know, but my wife and I have just returned from a wonderful weekend in your beautiful county. Saturday, we were in lovely Looe, but yesterday we spent a magical day in Polperro. The weather was a little blowy but gloriously sunny and, with you two and this C.W.T. episode in mind, we explored the narrow streets, shops and viewpoints before liquid refreshments on the roof garden of the Three Pilchards. But the main point of this comment is to thank you both for the heads up about the 'secret' lookout shelter at 'The Loft' house where, whilst looking out at the wonderful view of Polperro, my wife Tracey and I enjoyed our delicious pasties that we'd bought for lunch in the town. As great fans of your channel, it was strange knowing you'd actually been there yourselves and possibly even sat on the bench as well. And yes, as Andrew joked, we did sit at the corner of the bench reserved for us subscribes, hahaha! Regards, 'Devon' Tony.

Hi Sarah and Andrew, there's an excellent story by Arthur Quiller Couch on the smuggling trade around Talland Bay, "The Mayor of Troy. Possibly Q's finest novel, it's a tragicomedy which would make an excellent video exploring the locations mentioned in the book.

Looked a blustery old day ut got to say I loved the Crumplehorn Inn, looked real rustic and typically Cornish. Interesting history lesson and it was such a shame about the weather on this walk, as on a sunny day, this would have been brilliant, although I have seen better beaches on your videos down there. On a sunny day, a definite 10 from me, cheers Alan

We absolutely love Polperro, and this video was so enjoyable, and it was great to see it out of season. We usually do the stretch of the SWCP from Talland to Polperro as part of a longer walk, and that hill out of Talland is sooo steep! But worth it for the views. Fascinating history really sets the scene for the area. We are looking forward to doing re-opened path. Thank you for another fab video.

Well I certainly enjoyed your walk today.....The story telling brought the Smuggling history of Cornwall to life and I did have to laugh when you said that the Government in days gone by taxed anything and everything....ha ha! Well that hasn’t changed very much has it? Polperro is in my recollection summed up as “all hill” mostly up hill.....but on the plus side...your trade this for some spectacular scenery and “o so pretty” village. For watchablity I would give this a 10/10....smashing.

I have spent many happy times doing the walk from Polperro to Looe, so glad to see they have reopened the original coast path, that road out of Talland Bay is an absolute killer to climb up and even going down is not easy on the legs. It is so nice to get a weekly fix of Cornwall, a place i love to visit as often as possible and would love to move to one day, so envious of you two living in such a lovely part of the country. Just wondering if you have changed your camera or editing software as your recent videos seem to have jerky motion unlike the earlier ones which were very smooth. Great channel keep them coming !

Great presentation and style. Off to Polperro next week - going to retrace your footsteps. Keep up the good work. Quick question - if you took removed the road route back up the dreaded hill would you down grade it from tough to moderate (return the coast path) ?
@CornishWalkingTrails
@CornishWalkingTrails 5 лет назад
Definitely easier than the road route! The coast path has sections of rock that were slippery when we walked. If you are not already down here, it's been quite wet this week, so I would expect it to be muddy! But this is Cornwall - we could be basking in sunshine next week, fingers crossed! Sarah :)
