Part 9: • Smush Parker on Kobe B...
Part 1: • Smush Parker on Being ...
--------
Former NBA player Smush Parker is looking to become a referee after retiring from basketball in 2018. Parker shared insights into his transition from player to referee, officiating games ranging from youth basketball to semi-pro leagues, including the Division 3 to Junior College level. He also commented on controversial claims from ex-NBA referee Tim Donaghy, who admitted to betting on his own games. Donaghy alleged that superstars like Kobe Bryant received favorable treatment from referees because the NBA wanted high-scoring, entertaining games. Parker agreed with these claims, asserting he noticed an explicit bias during Kobe Bryant's games. Donaghy also asserted that he was able to use his experience and knowledge about the relationships between referees and players to make successful bets. Parker, however, clarified he isn't privy to such information as he only aims to officiate games properly.

"They would show videos of Raja fouling Kobe that was not called. They made sure these fouls on Kobe would called next time." Now to rework that statement like Kobe get special treatment is crazy. Where is the special treatment when he was getting held and fouled but the whistle didn't blow? Thumbs down
@jeffreyrice4242
@jeffreyrice4242 2 месяца назад
The special treatment came when the refs were shown plays where a foul was not called on Kobe's defender, but not shown plays where fouls were missed for other players, or that went against Kobe and were not fouls
@StreetCammo
@StreetCammo 2 месяца назад
@jeffreyrice4242 Phil Jackson, Kobe's coach, is the one sent the video in. Head coaches have been doing that for years for their players. They send in videos for review to the league. Then they rule if it's fair or foul.
@jeffreyrice4242
@jeffreyrice4242 2 месяца назад
@StreetCammo that's true. But we aren't talking about coaches. We're talking about the league saying "Kobe is who people pay to see....make sure he doesn't foul out" no one gives a damn if Raja Bell fouls out other than Suns fans. D'Antoni can send all the film to the league he wants, Kobe will be favored over Bell period.
@StreetCammo
@StreetCammo 2 месяца назад
@jeffreyrice4242 facts. He's the one doing the fouling against an aggressive offensive player. Raja Bell ain't aggressive on the offensive end so yeah Kobe > Raja.
@StreetCammo
@StreetCammo 2 месяца назад
@jeffreyrice4242 also the fact remains that the guy who's supposed to be getting special treatment had a video of him getting fouled multiple times with no call.

@@jayvonjayvon6147 Imagine this. You played about 8 nba seasons. You played with 3 teams before you played with the Lakers and Kobe. Cleveland, Detroit and The Phx Suns. You then played only 2 seasons with the Lakers as part of one of the worst starting fives in nba history due to a rebuild that saw you and Kwame Brown as starters. You then went on to play for two more teams. Showed up late and gained 50 pounds then flamed out. Some how in your mind the 2 seasons you played with Kobe is the excuse for you being terrible the other 6 seasons even the ones before you played with him. Excuses, excuses, excuses it's why he flamed out. He could not cut it and the reason he couldn't make it is because of his own fault.

That's some weak sensitive bullshit you talking. Nobody has to say a word to you for you to show up and do your job. Smush Parker's legacy is he made decent money, was a good basketball player, but wasn't a good professional. His experience is his own, but he was not a good professional before he stepped one step on a laker court and wasn't any good after he left the lakers as a professional. I'm sure he would kill you and anybody else of the couch, but he was a bad professional allllll on his own doing. He's got to live with that and you do to. 😉

Its crazy how what kobe says and media can change your perception of a guy. Because Kobe said Smush was his worst teammate we look at him like he was trash. But he averaged 11 points a game and 3.2 assists for 2 seasons with the lakers and was only given 2 chances and no time to develop. On the OTHER HAND, Derek Fisher was who Kobe said was his favorite teammate. Fisher was given 13 seasons with the Lakers and never progressed past an average point guard with no all star appearances. Fisher averaged 8 points a game around 2 assists for his career with the Lakers. Dereks rookie year he avg 3.9 ppg and he didnt avg more than 6 ppg for the next 4 years. Fishers looked at as a beloved Laker, while Smush is considered worthless. And it most likely has to do with Kobe liking Derek and not liking Smush. Kobe was probably instrumental on getting Smush cut despite him putting up better numbers in just 2 seasons than Fisher. We never got to see Smush's progression cuz no one ever gave him a shot. Verdict: Smush was an average point guard, but in no way does he deserve to be called trash or someones worst teammate. Smush could ball and couldve progressed to a 15-17 ppg point guard or a solid 6th man.
