Part 8: • Smush Parker on Punchi...
Part 6: • Smush Parker on Heat W...
Part 1: • Smush Parker on Being ...
--------
Smush Parker recently discussed his NBA career in an interview with Vlad. After being dropped by Miami Heat, he was picked up by the Clippers who unfortunately did not make the playoffs, leaving Smush sitting for the rest of the season. He had been out of shape due to a broken foot and unpracticed, describing himself as far from his "Gazelle" top form. Despite a few preseason games with the Denver Nuggets, Parker ended his NBA journey, admitting his passion to play at that level was dwindling. However, his basketball journey took him all over the world; playing in China and Russia among many other countries. Despite encountering unsafe conditions and wars, the international recognition and admiration he received were welcomed, although he emphasized that the love of the game was his primary drive. Deepening existing controversy, in 2012, Kobe Bryant publicly belittled Smush's achievements.

I'm a big Bean guy, watched him ever since he came in the league as a Lakers fan; he definitely earned my respect. But I was very disappointed in Kobe for the way he treated some of his teammates. I understand he had a plan, but it was wrong. We all grow and mature, I'm glad he was able to make right on some of these things with former teammates before his still devastating passing.

Duncan never talk to parker until he prove himself. Smush never prove himself that why kobe not care. Kobe is all about basketball smush is undrafted kobe was a rebel that time he want help that time if you are kobe you are obsessed in winning and the gm give you smush parker what will you do? He want to win he was the best player that time but its hard to win. Nash have stadoumire and prime shawn marion. Duncan have prime parker and ginobli and great defender bowen and popovich the west was tough that time dallas was also tough that time but lakers giving you smush parker. Its a grind, just by the schedule and going all around the country, plus PT and practices. Not to mention dealing with so called fans, that are getting more and more worse by the season. Yes, theyre getting paid plenty to deal with it all. I get that. But from just a human being aspect, thats alot. Smush was just being mentored by kobe and he didn't even know it. This interview provided insight into their situation. Smush was just young and naive at that time and that's he felt a certain way. He said it himself that he was just playing basketball during his career just for the love of it. You have to understand that Kobe understood that since he was probably 6 years old (he grew up watching his dad as a professional basketball player). So they both came into the game with a drastically different mindset. If you replaced smush with Wade or Chris Paul, or anyone else who was more mature at that age, it would've been a different outcome.

try to watch the documentary THE LEGEND OF THE 81 POINT GAME. Smush realized that Kobe was just pushing him to be great. But he wasted the chance coz just being in the league was enough for him at that time. He was thinking small, while kobe was trying him to be big.

For real, if Smush had told Kobe to kiss his ass, he woulda been righteous. For whatever reason, Kobe had it out for him. But they worked it out, good for them.

The fact that Kobe did him that solid should say a whole lot about him… he didn’t have to do it but he did, but yes let’s do a press tour talking about how awful he was.

Let me add this to this Kobe story. I was not there for it. I use to work at a famous (still famous today) hospital in LA. So I worked in MRI. So we had a Laker player come for an MRI. I dont remember who he was. Clearly, I'm not a big-time player. So he came and have to take off his jewelry but he left it. My tech called him saying he left it here. He said just hold it for me. I will come back next. My tech was like fuck no. Told him to come back to get it. My tech has no idea how much its worth. So he cane back to get it. Then this player came back the next week not sure why. He came and had a bunch of basketballs signed by every Laker on the team and he was giving it out to the children in the cancer center. So my tech said " Man these kids are goibg to be excited to have a ball sign by the Lakers and Kobe. The player said Fuck Kobe. He refused to sign it. Kobe exuse was this player might just try to go sell it to make money. So for the fact Kobe signed it for his pastor says alot.
