Congrats on yours! How are you finding it? When I bought mine they only had this taupe available at the airport, but then when I checked on Smythson website for this video I saw the blue - would have probably got that one instead!
Daaaarling *in posh voice*, the taupe is understated. True luxury! But it's still available! The sale ends on Monday, so there's still time if you want to get the blue and if that's too much to own I think it wouldn't be too hard to sell one of them for full sale price. Since the Panama leather is supposed to be super flexible, the flap on the right I just folded underneath itself when writing and that actually has trained that flap to stay down pretty quickly which was my biggest concern in the ease of using this folder. I would worry it would crack the leather but there's no sign of that! My disappointment was that it's hard to feel the actual leather since it's heavily coated on the outside, and on the inside to me it feels like a PU faux-leather. I have a Coach writing folder from ages ago 10-15 years?) and the inside leather feels more luxurious than the Smythson one (also it's blued inside not stitched). My initial impression also was that there is too much space between the notebook and the actual cover on both sides when closed but I think it allows for a bigger pen clipped and less likely to get ring indents from the spiral bound inner notebook. I took it out and put a guided journal I'm working on that fits perfectly. I love that it's a standard A5 and not some proprietary size that's difficult to find refills for. The perfect size in my opinion. BUT I'm obsessed with mine! That blue is a color I've loved all my life and I'm so glad I got this more classic version without the snap closure. This was my first Smythson purchase, so I'm hoping the quality they are known for will hold up over time. Because of their reputation, if I decide for some reason I don't want it, I believe it will hold it's value when reselling. I'm also on a mission to waste less time online and spend it writing, planning, and living my life. I really connected with you when you said that your intention in getting the folder is for less screen time. These are such special pieces to add to my life. I'm happy 😊
@@elo5193 I’m so glad you’re happy ☺️ having nice items like these to enhance life’s activities is a joy! I spend so much time aimlessly scrolling through my phone and I never feel good for doing it. I even bought myself a book of puzzles like crossword, sudoku 😅 I see what you mean about the leather - I also saw the Coach writing folder recently and it was so soft, but the one I saw lacked functionality (it was a basic cover) so I’m still glad I got the Smythson one ☺️ xx
I also got myself a Japanese diary! I got the Kokuyo PAL planner. Look into it! I love the creative but functional layout and it comes with so many fun, unexpected goodies, and a new theme/color every year. You mentioned a Mulberry planner/orgnaiser in this video. I looked at your videos and I just realized that I watched it this week because i was searching for that same item without realizing it's your video!I'm obsessed with that blue and really want the Mulberry pocket planner. There's the same one on eBay that I want so much but it cost more than the Bijou (pocket size) Smythson organiser that are on sale, so it's hard to justify that same price but I've been thinking about it non-stop.
Another thing I'd like to mention is that an easy way to use the strap that goes in the loop of this folder is to hold by the other side of the same strap. Goes in and out very easily and comfortably. Hope it's clear what I'm trying to say.
