I love how this animation did everything to convince us that the teen was being a selfish twat, only for the ending to reveal his kindness. Very entertaining and well executed!
She ate his cookie, crushed his cookie, yelled at him incessantly, and judged him unfairly. But he was still a good sport with a sense of humor. Love it.
I agree, he was truly kind. My favorite part is that in the end the viewer can tell that her thought processes and realization of what actually happened has a profound impact on her. She is changed from the interaction, and that is one of the beautiful things that stories can show us.
This poem had had me moved when I read it years back. Nice to see a film version. The Cookie Thief by Valerie Cox A woman was waiting at an airport one night, With several long hours before her flight. She hunted for a book in the airport shops, Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop. She was engrossed in her book but happened to see, That the man sitting beside her, as bold as could be... Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between, Which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene. So she munched the cookies and watched the clock, As the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock. She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by, Thinking, “If I wasn’t so nice, I would blacken his eye.” With each cookie she took, he took one too, When only one was left, she wondered what he would do. With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh, He took the last cookie and broke it in half. He offered her half, as he ate the other, She snatched it from him and thought… Oooh, brother. This guy has some nerve and he’s also rude, Why he didn’t even show any gratitude! She had never known when she had been so galled, And sighed with relief when her flight was called. She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate, Refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate. She boarded the plane, and sank in her seat, Then she sought her book, which was almost complete. As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise, There was her bag of cookies, in front of her eyes. If mine are here, she moaned in despair, The others were his, and he tried to share. Too late to apologize, she realized with grief, That she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief.
I love how the lady's rage trying to get it out of the machine somewhat foreshadows the fact that she actually was the one in the wrong, especially since the guy never loses his cool and even tries to share at the end.
if you haven't stopped watching it, you'll notice every tiny detail. here's one: she paid $1.25 for the cookies with ONE COIN and didn't receive change.
Thank you for this lovely film. I use it in my ESL class to encourage students to tell me what is happening. We LOVE the ending and the value of this story. Great work!
I like how 90% of viewers missed that and your comment. And went on to say how patient the kid was and whatever. He wasn’t patient, he was a troll. Lol. But it’s a cute story nonetheless.
One of the very best short films out there, an absolute favourite. Also, note how the young fellow puts the empty packet of biscuits in the bin, when she left it on the bench.
He handled the situation properly. Getting mad solves nothing and causes many problems. He kept control of the situation and without being a pushover managed to still be kind
Some of the cutest most heartwarming trolling I've ever seen lmao. He's not a saint but it's adorable that he'd rather share his cookies so that he can troll her than just tell her that she opened his package by mistake.
All Of You Thought That Old Lady Is Making Violence To That Man While The Man Is Hearing Music With Earphones So He Can’t Hear That Old Lady Saying Bad To Him
EXCELLENT SHORT!!!! I SHARED IT WITH MY DEAR STUDENTS A FEW MINUTES AGO AND IT GAVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK ABOUT JUMPING INTO CONCLUSIONS TOO QUICKLY. THANKS!!!!!
@@nope8093 but the the video is about the stereotype that teenagers are stupid and don't respect olders and he wasn't like that... soooo no one is talking about cookies actually
I like how he was first seen as being selfish and rude but really he was actually being really nice to her. I’m glad they didn’t portray him as being a bad teen.
Honestly, I kind of wish my parents would just ask me, how they should react when I’m going through mood swings and such, instead of yelling at me and acting like I’m a horrible person

I remember reading this exact story once long time ago I think it was in middle school so literally over 10 years and my Grandma was actually the one who sent it to me I am so happy to see this put into animation I am absolutely about to send this to her
So well done! So much of a detailed and fully balanced picture of how something like this can happen in real life, with a gentle nudge to realize how our perceptions can affect our actions; also, how to behave with grace and understanding.
I love the message in this animation. The whole time you think he's being rude and taking the cookies from the old lady so you feel mad but then you find out she was the one taking the cookies the whole time. It's a great way to show that even if the old lady was being rude to him the young man was still willing to be nice and share his cookies with her. All and all it's a great and powerful message about not only kindness, sharing, and first impressions but a great way to show that judging people based on what you see at eye level can't capture the person they are on the inside. I love this animation! I always makes me so happy watching it.
Like I tell my adult children: people are complicated. Whatever is annoying to us when encountering strangers is something we have annoyed others with or at least in the same category, so when we overlook offenses we are just being fair. We need to enjoy having a freedom from judging others. Life is challenging. People are complicated.
This is proof the lady as dementia or some Alzheimer. Probably bipolarism too? Cause the dude probably did steal her cookies, but she was having a change of heart (dementia acting up)
I love how you can even notice the moment she stole his cookies, it's like watching an entire season of jojo and finally understanding what the intros mean.
i always wondered why joseph was wearing caesar's headband until i watched episode 20........ SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Good video based on a story in a Douglas Adams book that I read over 25 years ago. I know because I loved that story and have told it to friends for over 25 years. May Douglas Adams story telling never die.
Is That Old Lady Speaking (Yelling To That Man) In Spanish?! All Of You Can’t Understand What That Old Lady Is Saying In Other Languages But You Can Understand The Man With Music With Earphones
@@marcooooo9691 that is why you need to check your cookie swirls first so you dont yell at the man who you think is eating your cookie swirls but actully not xD
@@magicgirl8705 omg, like r u for real, well nahhh she means someone else she's saying 'old guy' so that most people can know what she means if she just said Carl from up most people wouldn't know so shush.
My grandson watched this with me and we both loved it. He asked to watch it several times, and rerolled some particularly funny parts. The part he liked best was the old lady standing on the seat and balling the young man out. I liked the text he was writing about her to a friend. Thank you for this delightful and creative animation. We also enjoyed the poem that it was based on.
Anton.d09 hey here just they wanna conclude a point here..not to judge someone by just one glance. n here they also try to show gap between 2 generation.
Nice message, we ought to be careful to not allow a bad day, preconceived inner biases, etc affect how we survey a situation or how we view/treat a person. It's best to do our best to maintain a calm and level head, and to sometimes take a step back from situations to really think through things and gain a more clear view. Remind ourselves of the big picture. Anyway, great little short!
Age alone doesn't guarantee maturity. She just took him for granted as a bully without knowing the facts, when he was mature enough 2 excuse her. Well done.
Andrew Auer i mean telling the entire world on national tv as the fucking president that he would fuck his daughter if she wasn’t his daughter is a pretty good indicator of values.
@@dingding267 Trump is a clown now scarier than pennywise for saying to inject disinfectant to the body to kill coronavirus. I laughed at that. It's on the news. 😂😂😂
Simple but so effective in getting the message across... excellent job! I am sharing this video... people need to see it! Many many blessings to you! Heidi Lynn
If the teen wasn't a good person, the grandma probably wouldn't have a change of heart in the ending. This is a message for everyone to stay a good person even if others are mean to you. Kindness will eventually spark goodness in eveyone.
