Great job on making the officials aware of all the illegal activities around the Ganny. I was there today and saw the MNR there patrolling. One more day and the season closes there. Hopefully give these fish some peace to spawn without snaggers harassing them. Great video Pete.
out of all ways you can legally fish they choose snagging and over harvesting like if your that desperate to catch a meal at least floss them that way it's legal and keep only what you need not like 600 pounds of fish that'll go freezer burnt
I havent been there in probably 25 years. I can't stand the snaggers, poachers, liners, and flossers. PS, lets get together soon buddy. Our old honey hole will be full of browns soon. cheers!
Usually when caught you lose your fishing license and no they don't get to keep the fish. Also they get a fine as well. Not sure how things are here. But I do know some places do that if you get caught snagging
@@joshysanti91 yah I know about the fines and penalties for sure, I'm trying to understand where do they go with the dead fish though? If the MNRF keeps them, what do they do with them? It sucks that irresponsible fisher men pull these moves, kills the fish then God knows what happens to them, man the rules are so simple it's ridiculous! I don't know why I get so personal LOL
This is gonna be a pilot project and will be added to more rivers if it works successfully. Too many loogans during the fall salmon runs, it happens in all creeks and rivers from the Niagara all the way to the st lawrence. If the river gets a run of salmon and the snaggers show up then this situation will be applied to other rivers. Increase the fines and hire more CO'S.
We need to make it mandatory to fish single hook, possibly single barbless on the ganny. I love bringing the fly rod down and catching fish, but the amount of people throwing rapalas or treble hooks to snag salmon is unreal. Makes a bad name for us.
That's a good idea to have a season on them we don't have a season here in ny once there running u can keep on catching nice video.no reason for a treble hook we float skies under a bobber always legal that way
Rules and regulations are there to protect the fisheries in order for future generations to enjoy as we have. They are simple gluttons that will eat without consideration. Ignorance is NO excuse. Loss of fish, gear and car would have been more appropriate after fines with charges followed by public shaming.
Buddy boy at the end just had one legit, right? Cant stand poachers or snaggers. I reported someone who was for sure snag fishing steelhead at a hole I go to. Dont think DFW did anything though, saw the guy "fishing" there again a week or two after. If I dont have service to call a report, what should I do to make sure I have enough evidence to nail the d-wad?
