Snail, Smashing Pumpkins & Chino Moreno (Lead Singer of Deftones), PNC Bank Arts Center Holmdel, New Jersey; August 2nd, 2018; Shiny and Oh So Bright Reunion Tour; Special 30th Anniversary Show
Obvious that Chino's a Pumpkins fan - asked what song he wants to do and instead of one of the big hits from Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie he chooses Snail off of Gish. Performed it well, too. Much respect.
Nah, the guy seemed pretty nervous for this one. The reason you see him featured or joining in on stage as a guest is because he truly has a very eclectic palate for music.
It helps that he has a great voice. I don't really see the nerves that other people are talking about. More that they probably only rehearsed these songs once at soundcheck and so he was making sure he was super present, paying attention.
I also love when he did the kill by 30 seconds to Mars live, but you could tell he was just doing that song to do it, he’s said in interviews how huge of an influence pumpkins were on him, so even though he killed it here you can tell he was a little more nervous about not being on. Which he was this and bodies are both so dam on point ❤️❤️
Look at the catalog of Deftones covers. It's extraordinary!!!! They make other band's good songs great with their amazing style...and with Chino's voice? INCREDIBLE!!!!
When I was 11 my best friend and I would pretend to sing like Chino by cupping our hands and screaming as hard as we could. When I was 13 I would lock myself into my room with headphones on and pretend to be Billy Corgan as my brother laughed as hard as he could from the other room. Deftones and Smashing pumpkins will forever be a part of my DNA and this right here is just magical beyond words
Fucking right. I've always said that Jimmy is one of the greatest drummers of all time, and well deserves to be in that pantheon. Such a shame that I saw The Pumpkins on the leg of the Mellon Collie tour after he got kicked out of the band. Well, as they say, whatever will be; will be. At least I got to see them.
+skyler Hughett. This isn’t “Bodies”, numb nuts. It’s “Snail” off, I think, ‘Gish’ which came out in 1991 or ‘92. So, yes. It is in fact one of their more obscure songs.
+skyler Hughett. I’m aware. He was talking about this video, to which you replied about another song that, yes, they did perform together as well, but it wasn’t being discussed at all.
@@EyeintheSky-Ep well... By the time they got on the radio, I'd seen em twice and wore all the cassettes out. Looking at their music as a whole, I feel that the early stuff wasn't as ... pretenscious? I guess. I'm a big fan, just don't like the later stuff as much.🤷
Love the Smashing Pumpkins... A lot of their songs reminded me of this quote I found in a book..."From the wounded soul, comes poetry and music. In return, music and poetry heals the soul." The title of the book is: "Midnight Writings by a Distant Mind Lost in Time." I ordered it on amazon, it was a great read.
By the time the Pumpkins were famous, I had written them off as another disappointing sellout. But that never really took away from the fact that first album is beautiful. I'm glad that someone else felt that way
WTF just heard this song for the very first time while watching the movie Bad Words. Immediately searched it on RU-vid and found this great performance with Chino Moreno!!! 🤘🏼
Not a Big Corgan fan, but he wrote some great songs and he knows his way around the guitar. Also he is pretty intelligent( when he sets weirdness aside ).This was pretty good! I know first SP album rocked the hardest.
Born To Rock long time pumpkins fan 25 years 19 shows. Never listened to the Deftones but absolutely love the song selection here and vocals he must be a true fan. What a collaboration
Stephen Garcia My hometown! Arlington Heights actually. Had a chance to go see them play a party in 1990, I should of went!! Enjoy it. Amazing performance, sound and effects. The United Center will be full of energy and sonic ear candy.✌🎸🐶
Todd Ryan I lived in Lake Forest, Chicago now. My mom still works in Arlington Heights. Aaanyway, I was at the August 13th show & almost lost my shit when they went into Drown. And of course Mayonaise. Their peak was before my time. Plus I was on the other side of the planet. Either way, was grateful to experience this
I’m just so happy to get on a comment section and see no hate .. maybe people like us actually have a grasp on true peace , love , and passion .. we all fucking get along because of this awesomeness
Wonderful! Happy Thanksgiving to all. Not sure what thanks we have to give in 2020 but will give thanks anyway. Good to be alive and rocking with the Pumpkins and Chino.
