Hey all!
This is another Elektron #Syntakt only industrial performance that I had written just after my last track, Season of the Witch. It has some more October vibes along with a bit of sentimentality to ring in the end of the warm weather here in Denver.
I've been posting a little more sporadically lately because I'm working on a rather large set for an upcoming show - so keep your eyes peeled for some segments of that and for some more full-kit tracks soon!

I discovered you through an Instagram recommendation and I love what you produce. I'm a very, very beginner synthesist and would love more details about how you use the Syntakt. I come from the metal world too and would love to create this kind of vibe.

Cheers Jason! What kind of metal background do you come from? Did you have any questions in specific about the Syntakt? It makes for a great primary sequencer and has some really raw sound design potential. That alone makes it a must-try at the very least. In this track specifically, I'm using the FX block to do all of my pattern-wide filtering, as well as some of the overdrive on the FX block to glue things together a little. I also experimented with some more of the automation that the ST offers, which I found really rewarding when writing the kind of psudeo-drops in this song. I guess my biggest advice on the ST in relation to this track would be to experiment with using the drums synths as conventional synths. The drum synths can be twisted to become very harsh but still controllable. I think that was the most rewarding part of writing this one. Let me know if you have any questions man! Cheers

@@voxmnemonic well, by metal background what I mean is I mostly listen to metal, haha. But I listen to a lot of electronic and industrial too. Based on some of your shirts, we have similar taste in metal. I have a few synths, but I’m not producing the sounds I want to, as they’re pretty limited monosynths. I guess my biggest question was if you think the syntakt would be a good option to add first out of the Elektron line. I hope to eventually get a digitakt and digitone too.

Hello and great jam on the syntakt. Read how you are in Denver. Im trying to find a good music scene for EBM / XYZ Wave (insert whatever genre label you like. Is there any scene for this music in Dnever or been any other place where its more common I guess?

Hey man! Yep there are a few bars / venues that I usually keep an eye on for that kind of stuff. HQ on South Broadway often has Darkwave nights, and sometimes has a few goth / EBM artists come through Hi Dive will sometimes book folks like that too Milk Bar has a goth basement every weekend, they do some pretty fun stuff but its VERY much a club, so be prepared for lots of drunk people I think Church (the club) still does goth Sundays Tracks also does Industrial / EBM goth nights that I hear are a blast, I have yet to make it to one though Hope that helps!

@@voxmnemonic Thanks. Appreciate the reply. What I find tough is the scene I want to exist seems to be long gone or way underground. I grew up near Chicago during the 80s. Great scenes for whatever you want to call the non mainstream pop genres. Im debating if I need to get over to the UK and check out if they have any scenes. As Im older now, I want the edge and grit but I also dont want to get mugged.
