A large Black-headed Python was #CaughtOnCamera feasting on a smaller snake on our Piccaninny Plains Wildlife Sanctuary, in far north Queensland. AWC Sanctuary Manager Nick Stock watched the event with fascination. #OnlyInAustralia

Usually, snakes eating other snakes start doing so with the head and as they do with all their prey so why was this one eating it's "mate" tail first?

Normally they do! We're not sure why this one chose to change it up, but Piccaninny's sanctuary manager says BHPs are renowned for being "boofheads", so maybe this one was having a slow brain day 😄

Maybe! Female BHP’s are usually larger however both animals were with the range to be either sex.
