No MagSafe and a tiny market share. I can’t imagine it being made for any Android phone as they change so much constantly.

I don’t think there is a future proof design. You have to accept you buy a new case and new filters with your new phone at some point.

I think you are a bit confused as to what I am using. The video is not 60p it is 25p 60fps…AKA slow motion. Everything shot at 60p (or 30p in cinematic mode) is interpreted as 25p in post creating slow motion. 25p is indistinguishable from 24p, it’s just what we use in Europe due to the 50hz electrical frequency. If I was playing it back as 60p it would be normal speed, not slow motion and would look awful, like a cheap soap opera.

@@philipbloom INSTA360 sell the stick on lens guards and a ‘premium’ waterproof guard. These have an impact on image quality but it is said to be relatively minor ( refer: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7aq6yqHNUvg.html ). So my assumption is that such guards could be manufactured to incorporate relevant filters.

@@Democratiser I have the sticky lens guards and they are fine, but they are plastic. Making a glass ND version would be hard. They would also need to be interchangeable not sticky. Glass also creates issues with the stitching. The premiere plug in I used for motion blur they I used in my 1” review works very well surprisingly.

I’ve tried lenses for years. Very unnecessary these days then you have 3 camera.

I tend to use my phones as they are most times, I have so many “proper” cameras that my phone is really for quick moments. Have neat filters is very useful but I need to get a case that works with them.

Works fine. Only ones it doesn’t work with are the streak filters which I think I mentioned in this video.

@@philipbloom nope. I just decided to be one today apparently. This is another ridiculous attachment the basic iPhones hordes will run out and buy thinking it will make them better. When, as you pointed out in the video, the iPhones computational photography is going to be fighting against the filter and the only way it would work right is if iPhone had a full manual mode. *Edited to add: Then the hordes will be trying to resell these on Facebook marketplace for nearly the same price they paid (like they do the iPhones) because they realized they need money for baby formula or rent. I'm really sorry (for you and for me) that your video got suggested to me today.

Not really though are they? They aren’t MagSafe. You have two strips magnetic with adhesive to stick on the rear of your iphone. Then the filters are metal and attach to. So really nothing like each other :)

anytime you use a filter and point at a direct hard light source you will get reflections, even on real cameras :) 5.51 doesn't have a snap filter on as it says in the graphic. I believe I was holding my variable ND in front of the lenses for that as a test. Ignore the reflection there! Reflections from hard light sources like street lights, car lights etc using streak and star filter when they are much brighter than anything else in the shot, basically at night can be numerous.

@@philipbloom thanks Philip! I totally agree, reflections with filters happen with other cameras and filter types. I’ve had huge challenges on my DSLR especially with Stacked Cokin Filters shooting landscapes at night. Lights had reflected multiple times before getting to the sensor resulting in unusable images (or very trippy ones) ;) So your tip is super useful! I haven’t worked a lot with “enclosed design” like matte boxes and threaded circular filters. I was wondering if it would have less reflections than “open design” like a cokin holder. I guess since the Snap Filter design covers all three cameras one drawback is that it has more shinny surfaces to reflect under the filter even if technically “enclosed” But it does have the added functionality to work on all three lenses… in any case it’s still pretty amazing what we can shoot with mobiles nowadays. And there is tons of accessories to match what was exclusive to pro cameras in the past. Thanks for these instructive reviews. Always a pleasure to watch. FYI, I think the graphic at 5:51 says “no Topaz” but still using “ND6” snap filter. In case you mistakenly put the wrong graphic on the shot. Cheers !

@@KymDupuis whoops. That was definitely not the snap filter as it was part of a separate test.

@@KymDupuis the only way to totally eliminate on lens filters reflections is literally touching the glass which, they are ALMOST touching here but not quite...

The point of a streak filter is to give you streaks so I don’t understand your point, but there are too many light sources which overwhelm it though, it’s not a single line.

@@philipbloom there are black vertical lines across the frame, it is quite visible on the bokeh balls, they look like this >> (| | )

@@dhuwdhuwdhuw I can’t see any vertical lines nor can there be, the filter has horizontal blue lines.

Huh? How do you get the diameter of a square filter? Also they are slot in filters. I’ve no idea how you can adapt anything without having one to exactly replicate.

That doesn’t make any sense. You can buy dedicated filters for all sorts of cameras, the thing that makes this good is the MagSafe of the iphone. Without it they are just filters.

I know a fair few who don’t use cases. I find it strange.

why? I use a magsafe case for my phone. I will put on this and remove via MagSafe when I use it so what is the difference?

I guess you’ve missed the part about them certifying which cases work with the system so you aren’t tied to one case like polar pro, right?

@@NeveRB4 not at all, I reviewed the filters and very clearly mentioned the inability to use cases right now and that they would have a full list of cases which were compatible well before they started shipping these in December.

Read the graphic at that point.
