Pretty dumb they build a bigger yoke and put a tiny screw in makes zero semse lol great video brother!!

Thanks man! It is dumb, almost like they want it to fail.

I was going to say the exact same thing, it’s ridiculous to overbuild yoke and then use smaller hardware to hold it together! Unreal snap on! Where did you hire them engineers??
@Kaffeetanne
@Kaffeetanne 6 месяцев назад
They probably do this on purpose, as some sort of predetermined breaking point, since replacing a screw or a handle is cheaper than replacing broken ratchet gears.
@Dan-wt7jx
@Dan-wt7jx 6 месяцев назад
@@Kaffeetannethis was likely the thinking, I couldn't see a good shot of the yoke ears for the D100 and if they had actually spread or if it was just the pin deflecting. But that pin is going to be far cheaper than the handle or the actual ratchet mechanism for SO reps and way faster to fix. Everything has a weak point, engineering it to be somewhere cheap and easy to fix isn't a bad idea. I know I would rather replace a clutch than rebuild a transmission.

Those style screws are on the dbl box end zero offset flex head reversible ratcheting wrenches (what a mouthful) as well. The spring is also weaker and doesn’t allow the head to tighten up. My dealer said Snap On is aware of the problem (I would hope so) and should correct it in the next round of manufacturing.

Seeing the 100t ratchet not let loose at almost 200 ft lbs of torque was making me consider asking our snapon dealer about one. But then you showed the pins. Similar to you, I love my dual 80, but I have the long handle comfort grip, like the locking one you showed last video. It's been well lubricated from just about any kind of automotive oils imagineable and is super smooth because of it.

That’s a good ratchet, I’d hang on to it.

Would have loved to see the teardown on the 100 tooth to see if it was in working condition as the 80 was in.

the 100tooth is a solid step down from the dual 80. The first day my snap on driver showed up with some, I was immediately turned off by how poor the machining looked compared to the dual 80 which is an incredibly good looking tool. Not to mention the massive difference in backdrag.

Almost 200 ft lbs on the 100th and only 96 on the 80.. big difference. Have a dual 80 and two of the new cynergy 100th, the 100th does have a smaller head, but through tride and true testing of things that the ratchet is actually meant for, they are almost equivalent. The 100th is just smoother and grabs a little sooner due to the extra teeth.

So you got the 100 to smooth out? How long have you been using it?

I’ve felt the new dual 100’s in person and the rough crunchy back drag is what kills it for me. I’ll stick to the tried and true dual 80’s.

The smaller screw is a designed failure point in my opinion. I have one on back order.
@ToolDemos
@ToolDemos 2 месяца назад
Could be. But when it failed, the yoke bent too.
@user-fp3gx2ow7p
@user-fp3gx2ow7p 2 месяца назад
@@ToolDemos perhaps a poor design then? I love my Snap On Rachets . Especially the 1/4 and 3/8 ones.
@ToolDemos
@ToolDemos 2 месяца назад
@@user-fp3gx2ow7p I do have some complaints about the ratchet, in fact my go-to ratchets are still the dual 80’s. My hunch is that Snap On will revise the 100’s soon and stamp and ‘A’ after the part number.

Hard pass on the Pittsburgh knockoffs. Take off the square Edge, a steel selector maybe make them a millimeter thinner you would have won , Gen 2 duel 80. I felt them in person and they suck don't push the button in the center they'll neutral out

Certain ratchets for certain jobs. Not gonna add a cheat bar (which I will never do) on a 10” ratchet. That’s why you buy 20”+ ratchets for those type of jobs. I have almost 💯 more ratchets and there’s nothing I won’t be able to do also including the famous breaker bar. But I find this test plausible and has no meaning really.
