Shout out to Brandon Stone, coolest Matco distributor I've ever dealt with. We have the same problem with our Snap On man. It just goes to show that it doesn't matter how good your product is, you need a good salesman to sell it.

Have both matco and snap on both have been dependable. In some instances either are tool can be better than the other.

Mrehzthegreat if you have a good matco dealer you will be fine. I think they are made by gearwrench. Since matco sold out they don’t make anything but toolboxes anymore. Everything else is rebranded. But if you have a good dealer you will be fine because that ratchet has really taken a beating ! It has been a work horse !

The Matco is simply a custom branded Apex Tool Group (think Gearwrench) ratchet. Same head, same locking design, etc.

@imgone No Matco was using Apex for quite awhile. They switched to another company in Texas I think in 2018 or 2019 and they use the same design.

Snap on is the best for sure. I do buy mac or matco in extreme cases of necessity, and they are more cost effective. I work on a lot of European cars and you just cant find specialized tools anywhere,, however I do look to Snapon first always and for a few bucks more I will buy them first. They are just the best period.

The Matco ratchet originally cost me $150, I believe the price was $170 but I bought it on sale and got the 18" for same price at same time. They are approx. $250 now. It really is sad because at the last shop I worked at is like 10 miles down the road and the Matco dealer there is awesome (he's who the ratchet came from in the first place, and luckily I have dealt with him since he first started out). I know they are not supposed to cross boundaries, but As for myself, I still have a lot of Matco tools in my box. One bad apple shouldn't make the company name bad but that one dealer gives the company a bad name regardless! Either way, he will not have another chance with me and he WILL get a nice "thank you" text from me on Monday!

It’s funny I’m a diesel tech and the matco guy never shows up for my shift, and I’m a matco guy but I’ve switched over to snap on simply because he shows up and I can buy the tools I need to work so I had to switch to the dark side

I agree with that 100 percent ,my old man is a mechanic and his matco guy is hands down one of the best reps I’ve seen for tools but in my area ours just doesn’t seem to think we need tools

Good thing you have a backup it's bad enough. I can't imagine how I would have delt with it if I wouldn't have a backup. He wouldn't have a very good time if he shows up. Great video thanks my friend keep up the great work see you in the next one

I like these videos cause it's interesting to see how the distributors in different areas are. Our matco guy is super reliable and always shows up, whereas you can't get snap on or cornwell to warranty anything and half the time they don't even show. Mac just straight went out of business.

It’s the other way around for me. LOVE my Matco guy besides the fact I have to pay him every week LOL and my Snap On guy sucks. Just plain sucks lol

Well said my friend!!! I had similiar issue with our MAC guy. I told him “you work for me and everyone else in this shops buisness” , since you dont want to work for me then we are done doing buisness”!

I know this is a old post but I still had to comment. I see a lot of people crying because Clay did not really do a compassion (as per the Matco fan boys say). It is hard for Clay to compare the 2 with 1 broken. I can see why Clay is pissed off. I am sure he has spent thousands upon thousands on $ on his tools. He needs these tools to provide for his family and his employees. Broken tools = no money brought in. How would you all like it if you were having a heart attach and your family called 911 only to be told that the ambulance has been dispatched 3 days in a row and no help for you. This is the exact thing Clay is going through with his Matco dealer. Quit being babies. If you do not like this video, then do not watch it.

Everyone always tells me I'm the best Matco distributor they've ever known. For the record, I'm the 4th Matco guy in 7 years. Yeah, my route is fkn terrible. Lots of trashy people I deal with on the daily. Also, everyone hates the Cornwell and Snap-On guys. The Mac guy is pretty much retired. The only thing I wish is that I never got into this shit business. Too many deadbeat losers out there.

i started off in the business with snap on the others would come and go snap on was always there thats most of my stuff is snap on, mac and matco guys would come and go...

Thanks for the video, I guess I am either lucky or not. Where I live and work there's no Matco truck. Where I live Cornwell, Independent, Mac Tools, and Snap-on. Where I work Cornwell and Snap-on. For my understanding Matco doesn't really make tools, just toolboxes. When Matco first came out to the tool truck business, Matco tools where made by the company that made Armstrong, Craftsman, Kobalt, Napa, and etc. I have never bought any Matco tools mainly, I would I pay for an overpriced Craftsman tool.

He lied once again and never showed up today ...... i know another dealer that’s about our only hope. You can bet there will be a video shot the next time he comes to this shop. It may even be used as evidence in court against me but it will be entertaining !

Matco was originally a subsidiary of MAC tools. MAC Allied Tool Company.... But I hear you, why pay high dollar for off shore tools especially if the service sucks?

BlindBatG34, I know that Mac and Matco use to be domestic partners, until one day they got out of bed. Then they went separate ways. Matco took the toolboxes with them. But at the time Matco Tools where made by Dannhor Tools. The same makers of Armstrong which is now Apex Tools. Right now Apex stop making tools here in the USA, to invest in Gearwrench.

I guess that explains why the few 10+ year old USA made Kobalt tools I have are quite good for what I paid... very comparable to Craftsman before they went down the drain. No idea if they're still any good because my local Lowes store is terrible and I avoid them at all costs. I think the they're all Chinese made and at that point I get way better service from Home Depot (Husky) and Harbor Freight. Customer service matters...

Clay let us all know if the guy has the balls to show or not. I have a feeling he is the same rep that covers the Corinth area. I have a few friends that love to buy matco tools but have never tried to get warranty service yet. Be interesting to see if it's the same guy.

If you have a local HF try one of theirs. Take it back and done. I don't have any store near me so I am stuck with the trucks. Our guys are pretty good though.

upside downdog I actually have a harbor freight flex head ratchet that I use. I wished they had the locking flex head those are my favorite ones but I haven’t seen them.

Koon Trucking I am quite fond of my Stanley 3/8" drive locking flex head extendable handle ratchet for aircraft sparkplugs. Its available at any Walmart. After countless thousands of dollars from all the big brands worth of tools its ironic to find something like that so easy and cheap to buy!

Well just keep this one thing in mind (i have tools from both companies) the ONLY thing Matco makes is toolboxes. They DO NOT make 1 single tool at all. Everything is rebranded. At least Snap On makes their screwdrivers, wrenches, Sockets, and ratchets. Of course some of their stuff is rebranded also. I know in my opinion a Snap On Ratchet is the best hands down. Most of my hand tools are 98% Snap On. There isn’t that much of a price difference either between the two brands. Take a look at the video i did a few weeks ago Matco VS Irwin the bit showdown.

+mechanicmike I know and it’s sad. I think that ratchet was like $220 ? Can’t remember it’s been long time since I looked at the price. Our snap on guy is dedicated to customer service. I have a video coming out in a few days of the snap on warranty. Be sure to watch the video of the matco lies video coming out. U can hear the conversation and the lies pour out of our matco guy.

These guys who sell tools dont care about the job you have to take care of. They're only job is selling tools. Most tool sales people ive come acrost dont know a thing about rebuilding engines, repairing breaks etc. Just remember, the dude in the truck is just selling tools, because he is a tool....

I swear the tool companies must brainwash their dealers into thinking the product is so good that the people will stand in line and pay a premium just for the privilege of getting to own X brand tools. In reality there is very little difference in quality between the major tool brands. You pay for service. If the service sucks, there is no point in buying X brand tools because the the Y truck has the same stuff.

Why pay the crazy high rebranding price for a Matco, when you can save 70% off and but the ratchet from the original manufacturer? Hope you do know Matco doesn’t make anything and I do mean anything other than the toolboxes they sell ?

actually has nothing to do with the tools. I don't own any Matco of Snap On and as far as I'm concerned their both overpriced. Just something strange I observed about your facial expressions and body language. @1:30 and again @3:10 Reminds me of Ross Mathews without the annoying voice.
