Update: Wooting has responded by basically updating their own keyboards to also have their version of Snap Tap (SOCD) just an hour ago. Update 2: FACEIT announced that Null Binds are allowed now. Update 3: Valve has released their statement: store.steampowered.com/news/app/730/view/6500469346429600836
@@nemonas2019 I really want one but because of customs in Turkey you basically pay for 3 wooting keyboards instead of one while getting only one Razer is the better choice for me
I mean if tournament organisers start allowing null keybinds then yeah, that's fine. Either they allow null keybinds or they ban the use of the feature, it's one or the other if they do not want to be called out as hypocrites. Same for anything that bans null keybinds, they either ban the use of snap tap or if they cannot enforce it start allowing null binds.
@@crydevice it is "scripted" in the keyboard firmware, though. I'm really into DIY keyboards, and this is very easy to replicate in the hardware level.
"The script that does this is illegal, but the hardware equivalent is allowed." This is what happens when people follow the Letter of the Law, but not its Intent.
The script just isn't cheating tho. It's part of the game and is a built in script. Valve don't ban you for it. Sure some events ban it but they also ban certain grenades, they aren't an arbiter of what's cheating.
im not sure it could even be stopped, at this point you are going to have to let null bind scripts at the software level to even the playing field. Keyboards are HID's and by default trusted by the operating system. The only place a ban on these keyboards would even work is at an in person event.
this exact thing happened a couple years ago in the fighting game community! it's called SOCD cleaning ( simultaneous opposing cardinal directions cleaning), basically means what does the game read your inputs as when two opposing directions are being pressed, this was a huge deal. they dealt with like champs, doubt valve or tournament organisers will do the same!
As a fighting game player, and to continue on what the OP said, basically most tournament organizers made it so that your controller must respect the fact you cannot simultaneously input 2 directions. Keyboards as well as non traditional arcade sticks that used buttons for movement are big offenders of this (google search hitbox controller if you're interested). Im sure getting these keyboards banned in CS2 tourneys won't be a huge deal if the organizers and Valve do decide to go down this path
@@ColdyCZ made it so only Neutral SOCD (so basically A + D = Neutral, so not moving at all, like its always been) is legal, but this also depends on who's hosting the tournament
As a high-level CS surfer, I can say null binds (alias commands that basically give you Snap Tap in Source games) give me a huge advantage in bhopping and surfing. With nulls, I can beat hard surf bonuses that become much tougher with regular movement binds. I'd estimate 95% of top surfers use null binds, which are also common in bhop and kz, though more frowned upon there. For those curious, Snap Tap and Wooting's version aren't quite the same: Snap Tap deactivates the initial key when the opposing strafe key is actuated, while Wooting's Rappy Snappy actuates the key pressed down the most(for strafing nulls will always be better). As a Wooting user with thousands of hours in movement modes, nothing beats nulls. I can't speak on counter-strafing in competitive as I don't really play cs for that but based on the video it seems very helpful. Cool to see this feature built into a keyboard!
This is the definition of hardware cheat. Can you also do mouse macros that do spraying for you? If this stays legal, that's going to be awful for competitive fairness. Not that it matters if its banned, STYKO said hardware never gets checked in tournaments lol
When I saw the HNS mode on cs 1.6 clip I had to pause the video and mesmerize the goold old days, then I found this comment which made me even happier there are other people who actually experienced HNS mode in 1.6
This setting in CSGO KZ is called the "null" bind or script. It's very hated in the community and even consider by many as cheating. Some servers are even including an anticheat for the null and lj bind. As always, manufacturers are screwing us. In PUBG for example, you can use the macro's for a perfect recoil and is undetectable, now in CS2 you gonna have a perfect strafe movement with barely any practice. Competitive gaming is dying so quick
@@hobosnake1 I'm not so sure. People also don't need 540hz monitors to compete. And yes, for the vast, vast, *vast* majority of players the difference this makes will be just as much as going from 240hz to 360hz for instance.
@@KindOldRaven I think these keyboard features are actually more impactful than say going from 120hz to 240hz. I've noticed myself hitting shots when I know for a fact I don't deserve them. The more I play with SOCD on my wooting 60he, the more I think it should be banned. It actually covers for your mistakes so well, and it happens quite a bit. My leetify rating for counter-strafing went up significantly.
The funniest part is all these kids who can't stop crying but they forget that CS was there when they were still not even at the stage if being a spermatozoïde and who truly believe that their opinion matters, like if their opinion did cs when in reality Valve absolutely never gave a damn about all this noise that is just noise from people with over inflated ego.
This is being discussed at length on the Wooting Discord. Wooting themselves weren't confident that it's fair/allowed, but after deliberation, they have now added the feature. So, hopefully, that gives some credence to what I'm about to say. My sense of Snap Tap is that automating inputs is cheating, but Snap Tap is merely preventing the overlap of inputs and is not automating any inputs, so it's not cheating. The benefit of Snap Tap is reduced input latency and more control over your inputs. It's simply the next step in gaming peripherals and I'm completely for it.
I’d argue you that it is cheating because it can make you 100% better at something. With this hardware you can get perfect counter strafes every single time, something that pros cant even achieve. A new monitor will give you a faster refresh rate, which will make you better but not 100% better at something. Since it removes human error like many different cheats do, I’d say it’s cheating.
let's not forget that whole MSI monitor feature controversy a while back too, these features should be trying to reduce the mechanical error or implementing preferential adjustments, removing human error is cheating
as Ropz said it's a similar feature to null-binds, which is a script, lets say instead of this script "alias +mfwd "-back;+forward;alias checkfwd +forward;" alias +mback "-forward;+back;alias checkback +back;" ..." I can code the same script with C, and flash it into my custom keyboard, now it's a part of "feature" of my keyboard, is that considered a cheat for you? or maybe I can embed bhop script into my keyboard, basically if I tab space repeatedly I will automatically bhop, it's still a feature of my keyboard. That's what razer is doing here, take an illegal script and make it their "feature". Just letting people know that I can achieve the same with QMK based custom keyboard
Those who do not agree, how is this different from someone using 360hz vs 60hz? Would you call it cheating if I use 360hz? I can hit lot more shots on 360hz compared to on 60hz. Plus we also have to consider that a player still has to counter strafe, its just that this feature makes it easier
Hot take: "nulls" should be default for movement. from an objective, user-focused perspective, if somebody presses a key it's because they want something to happen.
those cs 1.6 hns maps, ahhh the nostalgia bro, miss the good old days playing hns didnt know what life is back then, before learning how to jump with strafes lj/cj i tought everyone use scripts or kzh
I saw you commenting on optimuum's video and knew you would post something too! I feel like stuff like this has to be unallowed in games, else it would be pay to win
cs2 will enable this for everyone is main settings since it should make the game feel more instant like csgo did. Strafing accuracy was more instant in csgo i feel and cs2 its almost like u carry a bit of momentum. I imagine most people would prefer the snap tap feeling. Its not like our 7000h of strafing muscle memory will go to waste the better players will benefit even more. Haven’t tried it but it sounds like an improvement
Is it really a built-in feature in the keyboard or a oddly placed script in synapse? Im only asking this cause what "if" you can make synapse think that it is the keyboard that had that function can you turn that feature on?😅
Yes, this is indeed possible with QMK. But you also need switches with an adjustable actuation point (and a rapid trigger equivalent feature) for this to be truly effective.
Snap Tap is basically SOCD - it's been used in things like fighsticks/arcadesticks and special controllers like that as well. It's pretty cool and it's a nice feature, but nobody's going to rank up just because of it. It's just another step in gaming keyboard progression and one function that's actually worth it. I don't think it should be banned. We're not banning Hall Effect keyboards or mice with fancy features either. *BUT* (this is a big one) I firmly believe that if this isn't banned, then the binds should be allowed *too* , if only to prevent all of us mega tryhards to instantly buy a new keyboard for that minute advantage.
@@Deezsirrerit does, you won't be able to hold A+D at the same time which causes slightly faster counter strafing and more responsive movement. It doesn't affect your aim as much as in CS but it still has an effect on the game. Also, shitty spyware ac that doesn't work lmao
@@xd-wp9iz tbh i think *we moved on. I know for sure they are still around, but the times have changed. I was playing this with my classmates right after school and in the evenings after “the homework was finished (wink wink)” that was the most fun.
@@GREG_WHEREISTHEMAYO adding it as a feature is a terrible idea. Valve will change a decade old mechanic just because keyboard manufacturers are adding this feature? Nah
True but joysticks would be absolutely terrible for a game the needs very quick inputs because it takes a much larger movement, and by nature also has to be done gradually instead of instantly
@@Laszered newer joysticks use halleffect sensors and you can edit the sensitivity and make the input binary, fighting games also need very quick < > inputs for combos so i don't think it's that big of a problem
We as the gaming community along with gaming peripheral companies are really shifting the goalposts as to what is considered cheating. Sure right now there are still people saying this is basically like cheating (I agree with them btw) but over time as more and more of these products come out it becomes normalized and if you want to play "standard" you are at a big disadvantage.
Is it allowed on Faceit if you have the keyboard itself? Because i know if you have a normal keyboard and use null binds in-game you'll get banned on faceit.
I have a normal keyboard and im using null binds in faceit, It IS allowed Edit: im not using third software, i create alias and binds in cs2 console, and that's allowed in faceit
I'm not surprised if some hardware manufacturer built a software that makes use of our webcam to aim and flick on competitive shooter and Logitech or Razer or any other manufacturer, suddenly introduce a no recoil mouse. That's what the competitive shooter become. Pay to win. It's either you'll buy that certain peripheral to gain advantage or lose a game.
i don't think they could do it with a mouse (yet) but your trying to solve a vulnerability that microsoft has been trying to solve for more then a decade.
I still remember the old csgo the only tricks u really need to have just crouch and aim for the legs not all of this bullshit third party software and macroing stuff cant have a good simple game anymore nowadays
OH man the feelings of seeing hns 1.6 being played, good old days with the Europeon kz community such as GRIZZly, tAST, stybjorn etc... Good old days! SOCD feels weird to me. Are you using the 'Alternative fully pressed behavior' too for a more natural feel or did you just adapt to it quickly? Would you mind sharing your profile please?
i don't think its possible to detect, HID's are trusted by the operating system. Microsoft would never allow them to mess with HID at the kernel level. snap-tap will have to be baked into the game now.
I think Razer did this just to fight back Wooting because rapid trigger is almost untouchable even with all these clones, Pubg players even like Shroud used to use configs in Logitech mouse just for a better recoil control. If anyone can have access to null binding like all the configs they use in cs just to gain a tiny tiny advantage, I would say it's fair since everyone is playing under the same condition. And in the long run, players will get even better with this lil push
There is a mouse with build in recoil. I dont know if it support cs but it does in rust and it is auto banned by anticheats from most good servers. Love your vis btw
they should enable it for everyone in cs2 settings and give us ability to chose if we want it only for jump and kz and not during fights and vice versa so everyone can find what they like. Realistically one isnt that much greater if u alrdy have 1000s of hours strafing, but the arcade style cs has always been u want to be accurate as soon as possible without the slugish delay cs2 added. Am i wrong that its just more CS like
Snap Tap itself is something any gaming keyboard can do with a simple software update for keyboards or by using the CS2 console to enable. The banning argument is kind of dumb because any keyboard can do this but it is simply more effective with an analog keyboard (a keyboard with magnetic keys). If anything, an analog keyboard is the biggest factor in this conflict. It is far superior to a mechanical gaming keyboard because of the magnetic keys that with the help of functions like rapid trigger that eliminate most travel latency, meaning the time used to press down for the key to register and the time used for the key to reset. The magnetic keyboard can register a key and reset it within 0.1mm of press and reset. So basically the whole issue is the type of keyboard that eliminates latency and Snap Tap of which synergizes with Rapid Trigger.
Hey @MrMaxim , I am a big fan and follower since 2018. I always used your cfg. Since January i have a lot of microstuttering and rubberbanding on only my main account with that cfg. I tried to deinstall and deactivate steam cloud, but at the 2nd restart of steam the cfg is back in. I trief deleting also all steam files...is there a method to actually delete every single data of cs and steam (also cloudwise) . Thx in advance😊
Wooting now has this feature as well. Just because hardware does it instead of your pc doesnt make it any different. Either say null binds are allowed or ban everything.
So let me get this straight, this snap tap is possible without it being just the keyboard? Which is known as a null bind? Do you get banned from that if you're playing faceit? Because it should be none or all, not an in-between, or I'll learn how to force it into my wooting keyboard and cope that it's a feature.
Game won't let me join matchmaking and I use no binds and I have never cheated. How to turn off snaptap if I have it but I not sure ,I've never intentionally used so not sure why this started.
Buying razer in a nutshell. Wooting made rappy snappy available on all their keyboards, even the kickstarter ones from 2016. Sure it's not the same as snap tap, but they'll probably enable snap tap as soon as the grey area around it is lifted
@@zilliq-qz5uw Yes, i believe in wooting, that they will implement the same feature and since the wooting keyboards are superior in other ways as well, i am happy to stick to my wooting two HE, best keyboard i've ever owned
STYKO made a video about how feasible cheating is in CS tournaments. One thing he mentioned, was that none of the hardware ever gets checked. So you could just nullbind with a harware cheat even without razer keyboard. Would that even be bannable? What if someone has done that for a long time and gets caught only now? Would that be bannable?
The hardware doesn't need to be checked to detect hardware level null binds. You could just check the replay and if someone never overlaps movement keys it's pretty obvious that his inputs get cleaned in some way. You could even make an anti cheat do that live.
@@Katze822228 My point was more that if this keyboard is allowed going forward, then hardware cheating as whole becomes a grey area. Of course tournaments could finally start checking hardware cheats, but why would they do so if they are allowed?
Idk if the average player can spot when someone's using null binds but after 10k hours in the game i can immediately see that you stop instantly which is only possible with wooting/razer snap tap/null binds
@@alexanderx78 its easy to stop instantly, its called counter strafing. The issue is consistency, even the best players fail at it every now and then. It's nearly impossible to detect statistics middle of a game (especially from the opponents, who you're focusing on shooting at)
This absolutely IS cheating and I'll list the reasons why: 1. If this was a simple QOL "fix", Valve would've included it in-game themselves as an option. Many games use movement bind overriding internally, but cs doesn't. 2. This third party software automation. If it's okay to emulate certain clicks with a script, you may as well use a recoil or a bunnyhop script. Their principle is exactly the same. 3. Avoiding human error allows you to get uniform precision on tap weapons. Instead of deducing whether your strafe was right, now you'll only need to memorize the timing between pressing the opposing key and shooting. This level of consistency makes weapons such as deagle too strong. Deagle's balancing point is that even the smallest player movement makes it very inaccurate.
I bought my peripherals with action quality in mind, but having my peripherals replace my actual actions is too far. This is comparable to a mouse that compensates for recoil.
well i tried out the null binds in deathmatch and honestly it felt so wierd couldnt enjoy it. i still have a "normal" keyboard without any extra feature just changing rgb colors :D.. i do not spend 180-280 euro vor a new keyboard.. i reached 2.5k elo in faceit without any keyboard features
i wouldn't say that snap tap is a script, rather it's a feature that was used to be made with scripts, so i don't really think that's ok to compare it to mouse with RCS. RCS IS a script, since it automates recoil, snap tap is preventing from pressing, not automating something.
I tried this feature on my hunstman, and honestly, didn't like it. I have been counter strafing for what, 20 years??? It felt so weird and I had to get used to feeling when I need to press the keys because its actuation is so fast, it threw me off. I tried null binds a very long time ago and felt the same way. Does it make counter strafing better? Yes. Is it going to be used by Pro's? Probably not, because they will have to relearn thousands of hours of muscle memory. Not saying some won't, but, you still have to learn when and how to press what key to get the result you want (0 velocity) and you still need to be able to hit your shot. Just because you counter strafe better doesn't mean that you aim better, how many times do you counter strafe perfectly 100% on the persons head? You still do micro adjustments, etc. Over all, its just a different feel. As far as KZ and movement? No idea, never bothered.
I've been trying it out in scrims recently & I find it doesn't impact gameplay that much at all, but it does improve my counter strafes noticeably I do find it makes movement a little bit sensitive & I'm less precise when jumping on specific cramped spots
If your already good at counter strafing it does not matter. However noobs will be able to master it easily. I think Valve should just adjust counter strafing so we are on a level playing field.
I tried null binds and it made my country strafe worse, it felt like sliding on ice. I prefer the old default wasd bind. However doing long jump and bhop using null binds is fantastic, but not for regular Competitive movement (at least for me)
Null binds are way worse than hardware level implementation where there is no latency. Null binds you still need a very good keyboard and it would still not come close to Snap Tap/SOCD
can´t wait for mouses with hardware aim assist, that again "simply removes the human error". Cuz it´s not cheating if you use these trivializing words.
I used to use my razer mouse in deathmatch with a bind that shot as fast as the AK was accurate I loved it lmao tracking practice. Then id also use it to have a full auto tec-9 I could do the recoil pattern for. (some none hacking cheats for u girls) Then i thought this feels wrrooonnngggg and stopped lmao. Seeing this 'snap tap' I am very intrigued. I am going to try this out since i drowned my keyboard in juice yesterday lmao typing this with real sticky keys
