The new Rogers Powertone all-metal snare is now a steel shell, and the Super-Ten model is brass, whereas, the original Super-Ten was steel and the Powertone was brass.
The Ludwig rings too much and sometimes longer than the cymbal. My which I got with my complete Kit had a lousy chrome-plating. It was the worst I've ever had on a drum and I had a hell lot of sets in my life.
Sorry, but I take issue with some of your facts. The Powertone did not have any chrome flaking pitting, or rusting corroding issues for one thing. Just none, if you cleaned them up they came out brand new everytime, unless a previous moron used steel wool on it. The new Powertones are steel shells and wood, not even brass. Sorry to correct you.
I must disagree. I have had no less than a half dozen power tones come through my shop. Two of them had flaking chrome issues. In fact, the drum I used in the video had to be re-chromed. The original platting was peeling off in quarter-sized flakes. True, they're not as bad as the Supraphonics, of which about 80% have "acne"
