Man, I've always said it would only be a matter of time before two of my favorite bassists came together for an awesome jam session! I've seen them both play in person many times over, and I always wondered how it would play out to see all of these guys/gal playing on the same stage! Thank God for RU-vid! Yasssss!!! Fuck it upppppp!!!!!! I love it when my faves collab! I saw Esperanza back in October of 2016 and Snarky earlier that year in May so seeing them kill it on stage together is so wild and everything I need omg! Wish I could've been there.

We are all lucky he was not present, because had he and Esperanza been on the same stage, the resulting jazz singularity would have created the funkiest of black holes which would have swallowed us all. So we've got that going for us, which is nice.
I know that vocal solo was probably really amazing but I just can't get into that stuff. It's just seems really irritating and pretentious I think people scatting along when they do guitar solos is also painful to listen. Only George Benson can get away with it imo
Jack Reilly obviously entitled to your opinion, but just so I have it straight: you're against things that sound irritating and pretentious, yet you felt the need to comment on a video a majority of the viewers are enjoying just to state what you believe to be a superior [contrary] opinion on the subject?
C Kircheisen I don't believe my opinion is superior. I just thought I'd share it to see if anyone agreed or if I was completely on my own. I wouldn't have got to this fairly obscure video if I didn't really appreciate esperanza Gomez
Irritating, yeah, I often find it annoying.. but I don't think it's pretentious though.. many musicians find that their soloing improves when they sing what you they play... some of my favorite soloists do that, but yeah, I generally don't like to listen to it-in fact it ruins the experience of listening to a great solo sometimes, unless it's a real part of the music in a certain segment of the solo, like George Benson does so well indeed.
Jack Reilly yes, I agree with you to a certain extent. That was a great scat by Spalding but I think what made it come across as pretentious and irritating was the people surrounding her on the stage. I used to be a Snarky puppy fan but realised that most of their stuff is just badly rehashed hooks they have nicked from other artists from back in the day. I am aware many bands reuse hooks from songs but it shows pure lazyness if you can't even be bothered to develop it into something new. Another thing I don't respect about snarky Puppy is the way how they use big name artists to make a name for themselves. This once again is a sign of lazyness. Spalding is exquisite and unique as an artist and I am amazed she allowed this collaboration to happen and hope the profits were split 95/5...with the 5 going to Snarky puppy!
These guys are jamming out letting themselves go and getting lost in their passion, so much you can see it on their faces... but someone still finds a way to hate lol
