This plus RuPaul not knowing that Elektra Shock was playing Catherine O'Hara as Moira Rose on Schitt's Creek during Drag Race Down Under's Snatch Game is pretty telling that he doesn't seem to do the research on some of these people before judging them. He uses a lot of '70's and '80's references, but doesn't know anything about more current stuff?

@@aarondelgs8583 but even if she was a backup, Gia should at least know the basic things about her if there’s a chance she’d have to resort to playing her. And doing things like getting her nationality wrong is not only not funny, it runs a strong risk of being offensive. And I don’t think Gia would’ve wanted that. As I said earlier, Yoko Ono would’ve been a more fitting alternate choice for Gia. She actually IS Japanese, there are quite a few well-known things about her that people can connect with (another thing about Jenny Bui, as far as I know, she’s not really that well-known a figure. So how are people supposed to get the jokes if we don’t know who this person is?). And for Snatch Game Of Love, given the person Yoko is most known to be with and what people say about their relationship, there is material there to make it work.

@@aarondelgs8583 Not sure if I remember correctly but I read somewhere that Trinity’s and Gia’s whole ”what you wanna do isn’t necessarily what you’re gonna do” drama was fake. Trinity and Gia just wanted to make good tv. So idk if Caitlyn even was Gia’s first choice.

And Suki Doll isn’t even Japanese 😂. Gia could’ve done Naomi Watanabe or super model Sayoko Yamaguchi, but she chose a character she knew nothing about or could relate to

I never got her "I was annoyed by everyone around me" excuse, she's a drag queen, people screaming at her is haft the job. Usually drunk people screaming. Plus people being horrible is a great opportunity to hijack their jokes and come out on top. Like Jinx did, many times. I like Latrice but second time around it just felt like an excuse for why she had no jokes.

Monet's took more effort than what SheDevilByNight did.

Because I think RuPaul mostly wanted Valentina to do Eartha as a wider variety of things, while Valentina was mostly focusing on Yzma from Emperor's New Groove. Like with RuPaul's first question about Christmas, I think he was hinting at Eartha's version of Santa Baby (which is actually the original version of that song). And Valentina follows it up with the "pull the lever" reference, which is a Yzma thing. Granted, Valentina included a variety of Eartha Kitt's stuff (like the "MONOTONOUS!" and the purring), but I think she was in the bottom because she didn't give the Eartha that RuPaul wanted (which shouldn't be Valentina's fault on its own, really).

Gia kinda sucked a lot of energy out of the second one. Not sure how it would’ve went without the interruptions and cringe, but as it is I agree Naomi was more fun to watch than Manilla
